  1. In addition to senior night there are a couple of other things to watch for on Saturday: -Peter Hooley can go over 1,500 career points (he needs 5) -We have an outside chance of leading the conference in attendance if we get a great crowd. -With a win we'd tie the record for most program wins in a season with 24.
  2. According to Verbal Commits we've offered shooting guard Patrick Rooks from Chipola College. Rooks originally went to Clemson and was injured his freshman year before transferring to Chipola. http://www.phenomhoopreport.com/news_article/show/617409?referrer_id=1555437
  3. I'm not sure who I'm really even rooting for to win the #3 seed. It's going to be a knife fight with either UVM or UNH if it comes to that. Monster night for Stire tonight - he put up Warney-type numbers! Also, Peter Hooley is racing toward 1500 career points. He should get there on Saturday.
  4. Funny comment from the UMass announcers about Richard Peters. They said CB sent him into the game to give hard fouls. Not the guy you usually think of as an enforcer.
  5. Stire is 2 rebounds short of a double-double already.
  6. According to twitter we are looking at Jaleel Wheeler, a JUCO PG from Kilgore CC who looks like he can do somethings.
  7. They didn't eke by UVM either. Hopefully we keep playing the way we have. Coach Duquette is doing a nice job there. He's got an interesting staff, his Director of Basketball Operations (usually a recent graduate) has over 25 years of college coaching experience. You don't see that every day.
  8. I knew he was a good player but I couldn't have imagined him blending in with a veteran team this well. A lot of people think we're probably going to fall off a cliff next year after losing three senior guards but we'll have some nice players to build around.
  9. On the flip side, I've actually thought bad officiating/bad calls have helped us at some home games. Fans who would otherwise sit on their hands will get and scream at the refs and in general get "fired us." Hughes can be bad and there can't be another ref in the country that calls as many offensive fouls as he does. But everyone knows that going into the game what you're going to get. He probably won't ever make a travelling call, but will probably make double-digit offensive foul calls.
  10. So far this year we've beaten two teams currently getting votes in the top 25 - Yale and Stony Brook.
  11. Writing in the Gazette, Mark McGuire things UAlbany should build statues of Doc Sauers and Coach Ford - http://www.dailygazette.com/news/2016/feb/16/0216_mcguirecolumn/?dgzrg
  12. I actually thought Richard Peters played one of his better games today. 8 points, 7 rebounds and he looked a little more aggressive going after the ball.More of that, please Defense and rotation was great today and fun to watch. Also the fact that we didn't let up coming out of halftime. Looked like a championship level team today on that end of the floor.
  13. Huge game tomorrow against Maine at 1 tomorrow. Should maybe be ending around halftime of the men's game. I wonder if they'll show it on the big screen?
  14. Good point. Really would be nice to have a guy like Travis Charles right about now...what could have been. If we don't get to the NCAA's this year, I think that'll be the 'Achilles heel' of this team...no big man depth. Not defense, not Peters often times atrocious shooting percentage, not turn overs...but big man depth. We have 2 and a half men (lol). Stire, Rowley and Peters...Dallas is only playing the 4 out of absolute necessity. Looking at last year's juco class - Singletary, Sanders, Peters and Green - Evan and Ray were obviously home runs and Peters has contributed if somewhat unevenly. Going into this year I had hoped we'd get similar production from at least one or juco players and combined with what we knew we had, would be pretty amazing. For a variety of reasons that hasn't happened. We're still going to have a year that most teams in this conference will kill for.
  15. I think he made the right play. Go for the lead and then make them beat you on offense (which they did.)
  16. The interest from Lousville is interesting considering his other offers. Looks like he would be a real nice get for us. We've also offered Jack White, a 6'7 SF from Australia. Also a 3 star prospect. I like where this is going.
  17. I won't questions the lack of time out on that last series because with three seniors on the floor I think it was fine to let them play it out. We should have taken a shot long before the buzzer in a one point game.
  18. I don't know about doomed to the 2nd seed. This team seems like the 2007 team that was the 2nd seed and then won at Vermont.
  19. Are going to show us a lot. They are: UNH- Took us to OT at home, now on the road. Maine - Beat us on the road. SB - Beat us on the road. Big week for the conference standings. We could be thinking about squeezing in to the regular season conference championship race or battling to try to hold on to the second seed.
  20. Bing had their largest crowd of the year for us on Monday night and UNH is having their "White Out" on Thursday. We'll be getting everyone's best shot this week.
  21. Solid win on the road and nice way to close the second half. Glad we escaped a Vermont game hangover, it doesn't look like Vermont did. Evan Singletary is coming on - 20 points against Vermont and 19 tonight. Mike Rowley with a double-double tonight also.
