  1. Northpole Hoops says we are interested in Canadian PG Godwin Boahen. He already has offers from Iona, Toledo and a few other schools.
  2. Congrats to former Dane player and coach and current Broncos coaching staff member Samson Brown on the Super Bowl win tonight. Super weekend for the Danes!
  3. I thought it was fun and a great idea by whoever put it together. They did a ceremony at the Feast and then in Sefcu before the game. The sound was a little rough at the Feast but otherwise it neat to see some of those guys again. In the Sefcu ceremony they showed video from Jamar, Jason Siggers and Levi Levine who wouldn't make it to the game. Otherwise, Brian Lillis, JI, Brent Wilson, Brian Connelly, Jared Knotts, David Bauman, Lu Jordan and a bunch of the assistant coaches were there.
  4. I actually thought that was just a good basketball play. I think Stiedl was the Vermont player. Whoever lost that game last night was going to be aggriviated by the officiating. We probably put more pressure on the officials to make calls because we drive to the hoop more often and there's often contact. We also took a lot fewer threes than Vermont. You're much less likely to be fouled on a three point shot than a drive to the hoop so they had less opportunities to foul them.
  5. A short turn-around after a tough, emotional game against Vermont. Hopefully we learned a lesson from the Maine game.
  6. First off, full house tonight. That was a fun basketball environment that should get people back. I hope we had recruits visiting for that one. It seemed like the officials let them play for that first 10 minutes or so and then Cremo and Bell-Haymes tangled up and things got all wacky. The officials held bring the crowd into it. 50 points from the big three tonight - Peter, Evan and Ray. Rich Peters seems like a really nice guy and is a skilled player but I would like to see him get just a little bit of mean going. Maybe he could borrow a bit of Stire's. Cremo - 8 points, 8 boards and 3 assists with no turnovers. He missed a few of those little floaters he usually makes. I thought CB encouraged him to be more aggressive in the second half.
  7. People asked me about the "big weekend" coming up and asked me who was going to win. They were confused when I told them Albany. Apparently there's another big game this weekend?
  8. Rocco Marucci had orginially committed to Colorado State before coming to Albany. http://www.timesunion.com/sports/article/UAlbany-football-looks-to-improve-pass-offense-6805320.php
  9. I would be really happy if UMBC is in a different side of the bracket in the AE Tourney. I don't know how they are in last place from the times I've seen them against us and Vermont.
  10. Interesting lineup when Evan went out. Four shooters and Rich Peters in the middle. Good to see Jamir Andrews get some PT.
  11. Well done. It didn't occur to me that Click could have meant Jacob Iati...
  12. Ambrose, Jamar and Mike Black are all good guesses but none of them averaged double digits. I thought maybe Anthony Raffa but he ended up averaging 9.7 points per game. Click has it - Jon Iati the year he lead the nation in minutes played. As far as I can tell we've only had three freshman averaged double-digit PPG - Jamar, Iati and Levi. If Cremo does end up doing it that's not a bad group to join.
  13. Joe Cremo is averaging a little over 10 points a game. Does anyone remember the last time we had a freshman average double digit points? I thought it was Peter Hooley but I was wrong.
  14. I'm not overlooking them. They've been kind of a strange team so far. They've played the top of the conference tough but that hasn't translated into wins over the bottom half of the conference. A problem with having a young team. Certainly there is talent there.
  15. Our women's team has been getting Top 25 votes in both polls for the last couple of weeks.
  16. Next weekend should be awesome but we have some road business to take care of first. I've only watched a few of the Hartford games, they take and make a lot of threes and Pancake Thomas is really good.
  17. Probably a sign that I'm a little spoiled when I left aggravated after a double digit win. Credit to UML they played hard the whole game and I didn't think we always did but I'll gladly take win 15. I would have liked to see a little more of Nichols and Andrews. Nichols plays with great energy and was really vocal on defense. Overall, a workman-like win. We've tended to show a little bit of a drop-off after the "showdown" games and tonight looked like that a little.
  18. Probably not a big surprise but Dejan Vasiljevic committed to Miami.
  19. I don't understand the redshirt thing but I guess that isn't the point right now. Hopefully he's healthy and they figure out what's going on. He is way too young for this kind of thing to be happening.
  20. 5 guys in the top 20 of the conference in FT% - Cremo, Hooley, Sanders, Rowley and Singletary.
  21. I tend to think their loss to Bing was a hangover from their heartbreaker loss to UNH at the buzzer. Duquette has done a pretty good job building from nothing there. They've been up and down this year but a win at Boston College and at Vermont have to get your attention.
  22. A couple of recent commits according to the little blue bird: Tre Hopkins from Oakland Mills and DT Micah Royster.
  23. Two bad decisions on those last two possessions. The shot by Dallas and Peter's shot. We could have survived everything else somehow if we'd take a couple of better shots there. Lack of poise.
  24. TJC is killing it so far tonight. Women up 15 at the half.
  25. As seen again tonight, there seems to be deflategate going on with one of those horses. You'll need to pick carefully.
