Let's play some UA lacrosse now
Defense has been cooperating,
-
Down 10-7 at the half, 2 quick goals for UA, as they decided to come out SHOOTING.
-
Anyone lost the feed?
Yeah, the feed has been very choppy and spotty for me...as if the game isn't frustrating enough.
So we need more than three of the best recruits in program history to get past the four seed in the conference tourney?
I know full-well that the second half can be entirely different, that doesn't diminish how bad/frustrating the first half was.
-
Classic UA lacrosse defense so far.
-
They better not let it get away from them too early
Well, I'm annoyed. Down 6-2 to the four seed after one quarter.

Turf: Is tomorrow the big day?
-
Drew Smith is up on the Bills roster. That never gets old.
How awesome is this...hope to see more of it. Does he have a realistic chance to make it?
saw he was listed as a fullback. What's up with that?
-
Still ticks me off that they think they got one over on us... To bad we were missing such two critical pieces.
Beyond suck-o, but I would be willing to bet a small fortune that next year's result will be a lot different.
-
21-12 final.
Miles Thompson appearing to have shaken off the concussion as he goes for 14 points (5 goals, 9 assists) in his first game back.
-
The team with only one dressed Thompson loses by one goal to LCC.
The team with three dressed Thompsons is beating Stony Brook by ten goals (16-6) halfway through the third quarter.
-
I like the alternating turf over any gimmick like purple turf....this right here is perfect in my opinion.
It definitely falls under the guises of "gimmicky", but I would prefer the great dane logo to the "UAlbany" logo. Then again, maybe I just want to be like the Kansas Jayhawks, considering how unique, and how "hip" our mascot is (in my opinion, anyhow.)
The page does not that the logo are to be "confirmed by university athletics", so we won't know for a couple of weeks.
Maybe we should have a poll on what logo is preferred.
-
I believe the turf design is as shown in the stadium map above.
Addendum to the contract called for turf with alternating colors.

The artificial turf will be installed on UAlbany's new football field starting next week.
For a while there I thought they were trying to get some of the turf down before the Spring Game.

Maybe this will soften the blow:
"Amid a fantastic season for the Danes and one in which he’s got a legitimate shot at coming close to or possibly besting the NCAA single-season points record (89 points, record is 114), Great Danes sophomore Lyle Thompson missed Albany’s game against Siena Tuesday night to be on hand for the birth of his second child. I’m sure we’ll hear some commentary from those who are critical of this situation, but I for one will not be a part of that. This kid doesn’t need to defend the decisions he’s made or the life he’s leading; in fact, he’s got plenty of reason to be proud. Life is more important than lacrosse and this is one of those instances where it becomes the overarching theme. Lyle’s a young man from a culture that a lot of people in lacrosse would have a difficult time understanding. To me, it only adds intrigue to the incredible season Lyle is putting together. No doubt it is one he, his family and his teammates will never forget. The Danes will lick their wounds from the Siena loss, and if they reach the NCAA tournament by way of the America East’s automatic qualifier, the loss to the Saints and the fact Lyle wasn’t there will likely be a moot point. "

T_U says Chartwell's has lost the University's contract. Let's hope whoever the new vendor is, the athletic events concession is separate from the dining contract, and accountable to the dept. and not folded into the U as a whole.
Heard from a friend today that Sodexho is back.

Excited by all the activity on the field today I made it over there and took some pictures of the progress, particularly those areas that are more difficult to see from the webcam.
There are 15 pictures, and because I did not want to inundate the board, I downloaded them to a public album through the "UAStadium" Google account. The link is here: https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/109125479176636089044/albums/5867950700406352049
I could not get a good position for the players' ramp area, but there are some new areas to discuss. By picture #:
- Back of the tower with view of where ticket booth will go.
- Between the trailers, trying to see if there was progress on the stairs in the rear of the stadium.
- The viewing area in back, with windows installed.
- The remainder of the rear of the stadium, again with windows installed.
- The nearly completed north tower.
- Progress on the ticket booth.
- New signage at the lacrosse stadium.
- New signage at the field hockey pitch.
- The Eastern border of the field area.
- The rear viewing area, walking towards it.
- Inner cinder block walls being constructed, as viewed through an opening in the rear of the stadium.
- The catwalk, with an unexplained hole in the tower.
- Mallards in the retaining pond filled from yesterday's storm.
- The remainder of the retaining pond.
- A view of the pond and the stadium, while biking away.
I figured I was overdue to contribute something positive...
Lastly, I agree that it certainly looks like the turf could be going down soon, despite the fact that there are no windows in the front of the stadium and no movement on the upper deck.
Haggy out.

Season opener is against Siena November 8th...
It looks like Rakeem Brookins might be missing the opener next season, as he was just charged with two felonies for being in the possession of a stolen wallet: http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/Police-Siena-basketball-player-charged-with-4433652.php

Haven't seen an announcement about a concussion, but that's what it looked like. Didn't play today. Is Miles Thompson still out with the concussion?
Danes win fifth straight- T-U story says Miles 'did not play in the game for undisclosed reasons'.
For what it is worth, the UVM Athletics website had a free feed for the game (with commentary), and they stated that Miles' absence was concussion related.

actually 7-3 in Non-Conference, and they still have Siena. I think that win last night gets the Great Danes in the NCAA Tournament even if they don't win the AE Title (so long as they don't kick the bed in conference play). They are now 2-3 against Top 15 (not even Top 20 teams), w/ all the loses by 7 goals or less (1 by 1 goal). Frankly, I don't see how Selection Committee ignores that (mind you the two wins happened on the road and only 2 of the 5 games were played at home). But let's hope they keep it going and kick-ass in conference play.
The ooc record is 6-3... don't forget one of our games was Binghamton... making 7-3 overall
Now it's close regarding an at large, but I wouldn't count on the selection committee.
The Baltimore Sun wrote a pretty good article on UA's chances at an at large: http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/lacrosse-blog/bal-albany-in-midst-of-unique-season-and-taking-aim-at-postseason-20130406,0,6632350.story

Santillo and the AE posting that the Maine's women's team will not make the trip, as a result of their recent bus crash.
UA straight into the semi-finals.
Wow.
-
Up to 8th place in the mid-majority poll (albeit 2 points/votes out of 10th): http://www.collegeinsider.com/womens-mid-major-top-25.php
I still want to post about how great of a game the BU game was, but other duties have called....
-
This one doesn't bother me as much. Road game. No Hooley. They hit a number of shot clock beating shots. And no I haven't come to accept it, but this one felt different.
You know what might feel different? A victory!
Malcontent out...to watch the women's game where moral victories are a thing of the past (even if they are just a couple of years removed from losing and irrelevancy.)

The link is fixed, with the new updates.
Strange that nobody told me it didn't work...
I see UA just released a compiled list of championships: http://www.ualbanysports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=15800&ATCLID=206385478

Using less of the Thompsons, and UA regains the lead (first since 1-0.)
