  1. One more day and then I am issuing a stern rebuke. We can't rely on 72's good graces in perpetuity, methinks.

I anticipate with great excitement your strongly worded message board post...that will TEACH 'EM!

So, I passed right through the "stern rebuke" phase, and now I am at full-blown irritation levels.

The athletic's department has to know that some people rely on the webcam to make it through their day.

  2. 72 has mentioned most of the recent construction updates, but I was at the university last night and decided to take some pictures of the progress (or progress and regress in this series of photos.):

    1) Washed-out sidewalk from 7/12.

    2) Additional photo of the washed-out sidewalk from 7/12.

    3) The demolished stairs from the Western entrance.

    4) The Western entrance without the staircases.

    5) A shot of the main stands, with the broadcast lights installed.

    6) A close-up of the broadcast lights.

    7) A shot of the temporary bleachers on the Eastern side.

    8) The area where the sidewalk has been removed, with evidence of new grading.

    9) A view from above the removed sidewalk, looking south.

    10) The retaining wall near the sidewalk walkway, including the area where the sidewalk was demolished.

    11) The demolished sidewalk.

    12) A view of the gating and the flagpole area near the northern end zone.

    13) The track and field facility construction, with a new interior concrete border.

  3. Quickest way to Phase II is to sell out or get close to it in every game - not just the first game and homecoming.

Bring your family, friends and co workers.

Arrange for a work outing. Group ticket packages are actually pretty cheap.

If we just get the Clackster to bring one person for each of his posts we should be all set.

By the home opener we would likely be over capacity.

  4. I hope they add risers beneath the seats so stuff doesn't fall through to the ground below. Compare the lightweight construction of this side to the steel beams of the upper deck on the home side - that's what 'permanent' looks like.

I want as few excuses as possible to justify delaying Phase 2 in any manner. Make those bleachers as spartan as possible, and push for permanent upgrades!

  5. Boooooo......broken webcam again.

Last night I had a conversation with the electrician that installed the webcam (don't ask how I manage to put myself into these situations), and he said he would look at it to see if it tripped its GFI.

He also noted that the camera itself has an interesting makeup, as inside the housing sits a camera like one of us would use at the game (with a telephoto lens), as opposed to some more complex set-up and electronics.

Let's hope the fix is easy and they get it up and running today.

  6. Perhaps we should start a new thread on this and start the movement. Damien for Everything!

I entered my vote in post #671.

It definitely falls under the guises of "gimmicky", but I would prefer the great dane logo to the "UAlbany" logo. Then again, maybe I just want to be like the Kansas Jayhawks, considering how unique, and how "hip" our mascot is (in my opinion, anyhow.)

The page does not that the logo are to be "confirmed by university athletics", so we won't know for a couple of weeks.

Maybe we should have a poll on what logo is preferred.

Looks like Danefan and I are on opposite sides on this one...

  7. Well, the comments that came out over the last few weeks (articles and McElroy) stated the bleachers are "moveable". They don't seem to be intended to stay for too long.

Looks like they still need to do fencing in front of the seats in both upper and lower decks...and the railings for the lower level seperating the concourse from the last row of seats. Basically, finishing work...

I'm hoping they throw some colored risers on the lower level bleachers, too.

  8. One of the sports that gets little or our attention, but the athletic's web page notes that the coaching staff for the upcoming season is "To Be Announced."

Looking at the university's website, a job posting for the women's soccer head coach was posted on June 20th:

    http://albany.interviewexchange.com/jobofferdetails.jsp?JOBID=40307

Maybe Mary-Frances Monroe had professional commitments, but I thought it was worth noting...

  9. Pretty positive, though I could do without his calling it 'big' and 'swanky'.

I blew right past the "swanky" part because, if anything, I think it is modest compared to what the program is capable of having eventually.

I got tripped up by "pocket doors", and immediately thought that it was going to be cramped in the tower. I know it is a popular design choice, but I just have a fear that the press box level is going to be received as being too narrow by its users.,,maybe a tour for season ticket holders will calm my fears.
