  1. also, I know a good kicker who is leading his div 3 conference in kickoffs and has a solid FG%. Great kid too. He was recruited to D1 out of high school but even though he showed well on recruiting trips, teams thought he was too small. I've never heard of a kicker being too small as long as he can make the kicks.

Don't we have the number one prep kicker for two years ago redshirting this season?

  2. They were grilling for most of the game in the northwest corner of the berm, but with long lines from those concessions obstructing the sidewalk, they might need to tweak some of the logistics. Still, it is great seeing so much money change hands.

As somebody that didn't have a final number for ticket requests until early Saturday afternoon, forcing us to the visitor's side, I am forced to ask if there were vendors walking through the home-side stands.

    Thanks.

  3. Although not one of the more followed programs, field hockey won twice more this weekend, so their #13 national ranking should only get better.

They are currently one of only six undefeated teams in the country, and their next four games (in order) are against LCC, Lafayette, Lehigh, and Sacred Heart, so they have a good chance to be 9-0 when HOSTING a highly ranked Stanford team in a couple of weeks.

Also, their top two scorers are a freshman and a sophomore...

  4. I was happily surprised when I saw the #40jersey hanging up in the gear store at the stadium as I have looked for one for years. cost 40 bucks and seemed to be decent quality. I scooped it up quickly. Would be cool if the school eventually gave us more options (number, home/away etc..). But a step in the right direction for sure.

The coaches' parkas this year also seem to be particularly snazzy (unless I was just too far from the action last year, and missed them.)

  5. Great night; great venue.

I am tired from over-stimulation from last night so I will keep my observations short:

    1) It was great to see the revenue streams last night. A beer tent with $7 beers packed for the entire game; concession lines 20 people deep on the concourse, and on the berm. Heck, plenty of cars were even paying $7 to park in Dutch quad.

    2) The berm was packed, but I think the chilly September air drove some of the "fair weather fan" students back to their dorms at halftime.

    3) Marching band? Cool to see them parade through the parking lot, but Skyfall by Adele? Yeah, not the kind of song to fire up a sell-out crowd, especially when they couldn't even be heard from 50 feet away.

    4) Play calling and game result? Let's just say I hope we hammer CCSU next week.

    5) I know I can get too focused on one player, but Ngachie got in the game and assisted on the only sack? Color me excited! I think I remember that play...fourth down, great closing speed?

    6) Kicking game was blamed on unfamiliarity with the turf.

"Whatever" to all of it...that place was fantastic, and this program just took a major leap forward, with a trajectory pointing to a lot more coming....and sooner rather than later!!!

Heck, Hofstra dropped football a few years ago, right?

  6. (enter: degenerate gambling side.)

Do you have any other sides?

    Tonight I'm looking forward to:

NOT walking through the old gym to get to University Field.

NOT having a lamp post in front of the scoreboard.

Being able to see the whole field

Watching a marching band at halftime

    Replays!

Zing! For the record, I think we both know that I have many different personalities...

I am looking forward to seeing how much more revenue we bring in with concession sales and apparel. This is a big step forward, and I want it to be the talk (and garb) of the town....I have noticed a lot of chatter this week, but I was responsible for a lot of it.

Other than that, there are too many other things to think of to put a smile on my face, so I plan to just enjoy the game.

And in case anybody was wondering, I walked down near the retaining pond last night, and the kildeer population is healthy...and there was a grouping of about a dozen mallards.

  7. All right...I have to ask this. Is this "BoFo" abbreviation becoming the preferred designation?

I know it is better than BFF (as in best friends forever), but with Bank One Ballpark (the "BOB") changing its name in 2005, that nickname seems to be available again....but then again, we might not want Bob87 thinking it is for him.

I am just glad it isn't called the First Union Center...that abbreviation was tragic.

So, DP, we still thinking alike?

  8. Did anyone get any information on Friday's tour other than the box office e-mail saying to stay tuned for more info?

    Nothing yet for me...
