  1. willard mountain ... see the link provided by dane pound ... an easy drive, forty-five minutes north of the UA campus ... fun, simple mountain ... satisfies 'nothing fancy' and 'close'
  2. a nice opening night for the pep band ... a long, overdue addition to home games ... both music and fashion critics gave praise for their efforts ... little things matter ... gutsy second half by the team after a painful start ... and yes, the flag guy too deserves recognition, he showed more than a little hustle in getting to the far end of the floor for opposition free throws ... nice work
  3. nothing better than a little UA trespass into Loudonville ... Dane coaches and players could not have represented the university any better ... quote of the day came from a seventh grade girl as the team was leaving, "i never really had a college team until now" ... hoping for a major upset Wednesday ... go danes!
  4. nice job by patterson and co. ... Women's Basketball Upsets A-East Leader Hartford
  5. where is the loyalty to the UA program? ... difficult to comprehend the mudslinging ... but just to enter the fray in a small way ... the "GO SIENA" comment is weak
  6. the explanation (i don't believe excuses) list is long for the substandard level of campus interest ... there is light at the end of the tunnel ... better days ahead for the UA community ... growing level of talent on the courts/fields and increased efforts by the marketing dept. (and a number of loyal fans) are helping to move the program in the right direction
  7. there is at least one comment on the topic ... i agree with your observation on the closing seconds ... see post in 'Stony Brook Game'
  8. the crowd at the RACC for the women's game was excited by radio reports from downstate of the danes comeback in the second half ... but the final seconds in the car ride home, a different story ... munir fouled on a drive to the hoop with 5 seconds remaining and UA up three ... are you kidding ... go danes
  9. ... 04-05 will smooth over so many differences ... remember we are all family ... i can't wait for the upset of siena in the fall to bring everyone back together ... and by the way, the social studies dept. confirms that the quote belongs to franklin ... not only a patriot, but a loyal dane fan (even if his days were a few ahead of the schools)
  10. it would not be unreasonable to start hinting that the 03-04 AE ROY award may be heading the way of iati ... the weekly recognition was given out fourteen times last season and the dane rookie has already put four in the bank ... impressive
  11. once again ... congratulations to the rookie ... not to discount 03-04, but i can't wait to watch his contributions in the years ahead when he takes the floor with a fully rehabilitated shoulder, healthy jamar wilson, seasoned returnees, talented freshmen, and a couple of well publicized transfers ... not to mention, the enthusiasm of a respectable RACC crowd that begins coming out after they hear about the first few W's of the season
  12. about the 'feast' ... one complaint ... it is time to do away with the 'cash bar' for soft drinks ... whatever the cost was in the past ... $20? ... one shouldn't have to pay extra for coca-cola and have a 'tip cup' out for the server ... soft drinks aren't part of the event? ... make the cost $40 for all i care ... didn't feel as though it was the right thing to do ... considering the marketing for the event, you were led to believe it was all-inclusive ... little things matter
  13. reeder ... that is the best post i have read in a while ... that day will come soon
  14. T. Martin will do just fine ... looking forward to meaningful contributions over the next 3+ years ...
  15. i believe that i have stated in the past an appreciation for the political reporting on WTEN Ch. 10 ... but coverage of local college basketball by their sports dept. is poor ... heavy siena bias ... they were invited to the event above, and not surprisingly, failed to send a crew ... they have failed often in their coverage of UA athletics ... thanks to WNYT and Cap. News 9 for their efforts in covering the UA athletic program (including their community service events) ... tremendous effort by the entire coaching staff and players today for making the event a memorable experience for nearly two hundred middle school students ... great job!
  16. ditto on the "bad humor" ... good guy ... generous contributions off the court to go along with the traditional x's and o's
  17. thank you to janis for the effort this year ... progress and intensity were evident ... hopefully this will not bring to an end his playing days, whether that be at UA or back in Ventspils ... good luck
  18. unreal ... what else can happen this season? ... janis had been making his most significant contributions as a dane ... wow ...
  19. congratulations to the rookie ... i doubt he has even neared his potential for this freshman season considering the rehab from surgery, level of competition confronted thus far, and the absence of a healthy supporting cast of teammates to attract defensive attention ... he'll likely hit full stride in 04-05 ... in the meantime, the AE is already paying attention
  20. they were scattered, but there may have been 2500 on hand ... holiday break for students coupled with a small, local community ... comfortable arena ... nice job by the university with the bus trip ... great effort PL ... enjoyment of the game was made easy ... hope to see similar trips in the future (even if a small fee were required) ... danes got off to a slow start again, but then played respectable ball the rest of the way ... impressive effort by schenectady product rashaun freeman ... hope for a strong turnout for the wagner game (even if many wind up being siena fans to see deane)
  21. i completely agree with your post statefan ... security is a joke ... no need for the 'level of protection' practiced at the RACC ... way too deep a topic for any real discussion on a message board ... but in a few words ... have security or don't ... there is no security at the RACC, do they think materials couldn't be smuggled in ahead of time and stored ... and the nonsense of looking into the purse of every woman who enters the arena ... what a joke ... what could be hidden there (non-metal) that could not be concealed on the body or beneath the coat of any person ... what a joke ... have a complete committment to security, or don't ... because what we have is just an inconvenient joke, so to is the belief that securing the RACC is a legitimate use of any resources ... state bureaucracy ... what a joke ... take a guess what the word of the day is ...
  22. he takes a great deal of heat on the board ... but Janis had a strong game this afternoon against Sacred Heart ... kept the danes in a game they were expected to lose by much more than 6 20 Janis Pipikis....... c 7-10 0-0 4-4 4 2 6 2 18 2 1 0 0 32
  23. nice 'potential problems' to have to confront in the fall of 2004 ... still a way off ... we'll see what all these new faces actually have at this level when they arrive on campus ... i can't imagine levine not being a starter next season ...
  24. apparently the ill feelings remain for some ... the transfer by the "Guard from Gloversville" was disappointing ... but i still appreciate the night in 01-02 that he almost singlehandedly upset siena, and in the process gave the UA program a little credibility on an ugly evening ... reports were that his main issue in not returning to the team were family related ...
