  1. I think you are right football unlikely to go; Except as previous noted Hofstra canned football within two years of its major stadium upgrade, so anything is possible. My suggestion and has been for years [dart throwers fire away] is get back into the Northeast Conference. Probably cover the entire 15% budget cut the athletic department is being mandated. Would not be surprised if the Athletic department is made to even bare a bigger %age than the UA 15% mandate. Anyhow, IMHO getting out of the caa; save on # of schollies, travel, equipment, etc; plus we would NOT have the competitive recruiting disadvantage we have now when going up against the SouthEast affiliated members. I know we have had this argument before and fire away, but consider lesser football better than NO football.
  2. Benson is/was a money man [a bookkeeper to be more precise] NO MORE; and IMHO only so-so at that. I have attached part of his bio, you can read the whole thing on your own if desired. Says nothing about being an Athletic or Program Builder or A Leader of Men. As for communication skills, pretty sure there are few or any on this blog who can say anything positive. During his time at Old Dominion, Benson was responsible for budget preparation and administration, as well as providing sport supervision for men’s and women’s sailing. Prior to his time at Old Dominion, Benson worked at Coca-Cola Enterprises, Inc. as an Educational Channel manager.
  3. Getting back to yesterdays game for a moment; Here is a copy I texted to a non-blog friend after the game yesterday: Not to make excuses. Hartford was the better team today. But consider Hartford played 6 out of conference games to UAs 2. 14 in conference to UAs 12. Got home court because of the un-balanced schedule. 3 of their wins vs bingo & Maine; 9th & 10th in conference. UA never got the opportunity to fatten up on either. UA had 3+ COVID pauses to Hartford’s one or none. So team that should have won today did. Everything was in their favor. ps . If you don't think home court even without fans is important: Hartford @ home 8-1; 4-7 on road. Stats prior to yesterdays game.
  4. After serving the last four seasons as the Great Danes’ associate head coach, Pickard was elevated to head coach in 2019 and led UAlbany to its first America East Championship title since 2011, beating Hartford in a five-set thriller. Eventually lost to #2 Texas in NCAA. Not sure if Benson can be credited with the hire. Josh elevated after Benson and Coach Eggstrom mysteriously parted ways {i.e non-favorite fired imho{
  5. NO. I live and die UA athletics and have so for 50 years. But IMHO I would not fire Will Brown if he was (8-22 5 years in a row; which he wasn't.) I would also NOT advocate the "status quo." I guess, I would do something like offer a new contract with a reasonable ultimatum and time frame. I am also NOT an administrator; but if I was, I hope I would provide ALL my coaches and staff the resources needed to be successful; to the best of my abilities.
  6. Benson is mindless and in-competent. Don't hold your breath for a quality hire. If lucky maybe his hire won't take 6-7 years to build maybe build-up a program like his last major hire maybe has
  7. Personally I am devastated. This NOT about whether Will Brown is a good coach or not. He will land on his feet. This is NOT about money per say. What they save on a new coach will be a pittance in the scheme of things. This is about Benson NOT liking Brown and playing favorites. Benson came here to build-up the football program and one can argue whether he has done that or not; but IMHO what he has done while "trying" to build football has been detrimental to all other UA athletic programs and even deadly to some. University Athletics in spite of everything you read is NOT a business. It is part of a non-profit education system and about STUDENT ATHLETES. It is NOT about winning and losing, but about STUDENT ATHLETES. OK maybe it is naive to say a person or coach should get a life time contract. UA Professors have tenure. If you have children most of their teachers have tenure aka a life time contract. OK you can argue whether a basketball coach [at a public institution qualifies for tenure] and you can even argue whether tenure is a good thing or not; but IMHO there is NO valid reason for Will Browns firing.
  8. CW. I could not view this at all anywhere. I do not have instagram. APPRECIATE you promoting it and you trying to keep this blog informed of all things UA athletics. But suggest let those 9000 views do their thing and leave your instagram links OFF this blog. DO NOT mean to hurt your feelings but these instagram links take up a huge amount of space on the blog and are often just repetition of information already available to most who use this blog. I say this as a FRIEND, most on this blog do not need these instagram links. Those that like and use instagram already have the information you are trying to impart and most of the rest of us are pretty content to do without it and get our UA information fix from other sources. I certainly do not speak for everyone and certainly want, enjoy, and appreciate your involvement with this blog; but do get a real sense that this blog can do without the instagram links. ps posting the entire Inside Lacrosse Scoreboard just not needed an easily accessed by anyone.
  9. official box score corrected; actually 15 goals on 12 assists. Shows excellent team work, un-selfishness and everyone working together. Very IMPRESSIVE.
  10. reposted from Volleyball: Volleyball broadcasted their game today on ZOOM. Not sure if that qualifies as a broadcast; but was definitely an improvement over last week. Joined them in progress after the lacrosse match and after I figured out how to install zoom.
  11. Volleyball broadcasted their game today on ZOOM. Not sure if that qualifies as a broadcast; but was definitely an improvement over last week. Joined them in progress after the lacrosse match and after I figured out how to install zoom. Ladies beat NJIT 3 sets to 2
  12. My take is that the Dane Train is back. Too many turnovers; but otherwise, I was very impressed. The defense was awesome, two of the goals in the last couple of minutes (1 with about 3 seconds left); otherwise only gave 7 goals to a team that scored 14 last week to a pretty good RoMo team. Missing our top scorers due to covid but still got 15 goals on 8 assists officially (I actually had two more, not sure why a couple were not awarded) I don't know if the picture on this blog of Tehoka was from this year; but he looked in GREAT SHAPE! And if so look out. The freshman looked great especially Hay & Tucker: Hay with 6 points in his first start and Tucker's first goal was one of the pretties I've seen in a long time--using speed, strength and agility to totally beat his man and then finished. When everyone is back the Train will ROCK. Maybe too early to be this optimistic; but this could be the best balance of UA offense and defense EVER?? OK face-offs still a work in progress.
  13. Pretty sure he has two years of eligibility maybe more. 1 redshirt year @ Rutgers, + 1 year injured I think, started 2 years at Utah, one cut short by covid, given an extra year. So 2 at least, more if the injured year and redshirt were different??
  14. Mr Cegles finally got back to me. I will not bore you with his response. Suffice to say NO money for equipment and/or production staff. But he did say something that might raise a few eyebrows: that with multiple events at the University this weekend NOT TO EXPECT A QUALITY LACROSSE production (his words not mine). Fallon has some of the same issues as University Gym and UA has only ONE person on the production staff and they are doing the best they can (his words not mine.) So forewarned. At this point, my wife advises me to drop the subject. So to save my blood pressure and other aging body parts, I will bore you no longer with UA--AmEast streaming inequities and complaints.
  15. I tried to watch Volleyball on the AmEast network this past weekend. The camera was so far away, one might as well been @ sefcu watching a game in University gym. You could not recognize players and could barely follow the action. I have watched AWAY Volleyball for years on the AmEast tv and the reception has always been more than adequate in every other AmEast facility! Since I am one of the rare few who attend most of the home Volleyball games; I never realized how poor and in fact pretty nearly un-watchable the UA feed is/was?? I contacted the individual listed as the associate athletic director (Volleyball) and was referred to Vince Cegles first assistant to Benson and told he would get back to me Monday 2/22--he has NOT. It is inexcusable that parents of players and out of town fans cannot watch their daughters and friends play Volleyball. I also would imagine that this would have a huge negative effect on recruiting. If you were a recruit or parent and tried to watch this past weekend games, I am sure most recruits and/or parents would NOT be very impressed. Now perhaps this past weekend was a fluke (like I said, I never tried streaming home Volleyball before); but whether you are a fan of Volleyball or not, everyone interested in UA athletics should be outraged. Another instance of UA's facilities falling behind. The camera issue @ University Gym must be addressed immediately. Zoom lens or moved or more cameras added, or upgraded software or whatever. If you read the Volleyball thread, I even offered to start a Volleyball Camera fund raiser and be the first donor; but per usual, athletic communication has NOT responded. If you have any connections or like me just an outraged fan, please get behind this. I know University Gym is scheduled for some sort or renovation; but from what little I could see on the feed, little or nothing has been done. Regardless, the camera issue cannot wait!
  16. THANKS. More reason IMHO its Benson NOT Brown who needs to go {or at least be evaluated and held accountable IMHO for the POOR job he has done since day 1.} [ps sorry about my mistake concerning getting the 3rd seed, I did not realize new hampshire and umass only played once this weekend.]
  17. Sorry to disagree; but donors and ticket buying fans absolutely have the right and in fact obligation to evaluate the AD. I won't bore you all and list ALL the reasons I feel he has done a terrible job; but I will say #1 & foremost his communication skills are NEGATIVE.
  18. Getting back to yesterdays game. That was one of the worse all around performances of a UA team in a long time; and there has been some pretty bad ones the last few years. Players, coaches et ALL did not do their jobs. I really doubt this team can make a run in the tournament. I HOPE I'm wrong. I'm not going to get into the coach go-no-go discussion; but will say IMHO you guys should be screaming for the head of the man who decides whether Brown goes or not. The state of UA athletics is bad/AWFUL across the board; not just basketball. {and please don't tell me football is back---we will see???}
  19. AD has no idea about anything if you ask me. IMHO he should be more pro-active about getting some fans in the stands; instead of sitting back and waiting to hear. Entertainment & Sports venues State & Country wide are making plans and even starting to open. Restaurants/Bars are increasing hours and %s off occupancies. Our AD is sitting on his hands, either doing nothing or at least communicating nothing like usual. Asking for money of course. Feel free to disagree with me! I have not hidden the fact that IMHO this AD is/has done a terrible job in pretty much all aspects of his job.
  20. I had the video on my Samsung smart tv; iMac and phone. The camera is/was too far away and the resolution was terrible. I have already contacted Leslie Imoore and suggested a fund raiser to get better/more video equipment. Please join me if/when this fund raiser comes to fruition and it must be earmarked for live streaming ONLY.
  21. masslo = Lowell. If they spilt or if Lowell wins two and Ua wins two, UA has the best %age of all teams with two more wins than loses and hence 3 seed
  22. Just curious 72, was this game streamed from Afrims's? Volleyball listed on AmEast network today and all on campus games for most sports show "live video."
  23. Win two & UA finishes no worse than 4th. If masslo & nh spit; nh 9-7 .5625; UA with two wins 7-5 .5833. Finish 3 and I think UA would only have to win one game in the first round. 1 & 2 get byes; 3,6,7 and 4,5,8,9 or something similar round one. Assuming, 3 seed would play winner of 6-7 and in other bracket 4-9 and 5-8. The critical thing is UA winning two would go along way in showing they belong with the elites this year. Such a screwed-up year, in so many ways; winning two would give them a boost of confidence and show fans and opponents they are something to take seriously. A split or worse just still leaves too may un-answered questions for ALL.
  24. Not that I have any say; but considering the unbalanced schedule and other covid issues etc; the Strength of schedule [i.e. wins/loses vs teams played against] absolutely should be a high factor in AmEast seeding. This is usually included in tie-breaker determinations; but usually down on the list of determinants. It should move to the top of the list and perhaps even supersede overall record.
