Found on the new LaxPower site. Does not really say anything we do not already know; but does summarize lots of question marks for new season.
  2. From Inside Lacrosse: Seems UA coaching changes NOT reported to/on???? Well no news on UA sites; so I guess IL just assumed UA going with only two coaches Marr & Merrick. Did notice UA site has somewhat updated 2018-2019 coaching page. Does lacrosse have a communications director yet?? Assistant Coach Roundup: Notre Dame, Towson, Penn, Princeton, Brown, Holy Cross, UMBC, Binghamton (Inside Lacrosse Photo: Matt Cashore)With more late summer moves happening than usual, the last round of coaching news has been finalized for the fall. Hutchinson Heads to South BendFormer UMBC offensive coordinator Neil Hutchinson has joined as an assistant on Notre Dame's staff, according to...
  3. {duplicate post from fall ball thread} It looks like the ncaa is revising the new shot clock rule. Instead of 20 sec to get across and 60 seconds to get a shot on goal; the new rule will be a straight 80 sec upon possession. Teams must still get the ball across in 20. I think this is a GOOD revision; it removes the subjective 20 sec officials manual counting and allows more time for offenses that can get the ball across faster than 20. [i.e. get it across in 10 sec and you now have 70 seconds to run your offense.] Also, after a shot on goal, reset will be 80 seconds. While perhaps not speeding the game up as much as the 20-60-60reset rule previously proposed; I think the difference will be negligible. In addition it will totally remove official subjectivity and arbitrary shot clock maintenance; and still prevent major stall tactics. From what I read, coaches are highly behind the revision and many who were against the shot clock entirely are now more on board.

  5. I did not mean to offend in any way. My issue is simple. As you say, I am NOT interested in reading about OFFERS. It seems we make offers like candy,; and like I said, I admire your research and effort to follow and post such an extensive undertaking. I for one am just not interested in reading these: but I AM EXTREMELY INTERESTED IN READING ABOUT COMMITS AND THOSE VERY CLOSE TO COMMITTING. I am in NO way degrading your efforts or those who participate in the recruiting threads. My suggestion is simply perhaps DP can subdivide the recruit TOPIC into "offers" and "commits"; for those of us who need less information. I threw this out there, not to insult you; but to gage interest in my suggestion of more specifically defining the "recruit" threads in football and in basketball.
  6. Part of the problem (for me at least) in evaluating recruiting (beside the obvious on the field results) is that I think this blog needs to separate "OFFERS" from serious recruits/commits/near commits. I know, I may make some people mad; but some posters {sorry guys, I love you and appreciate the hours you spend researching and posting about recruits} maybe posting too much information. At first, it was interesting to see how UA was raising the level of student athlete it was pursuing. But by posting every offer we make it, for me at least it has become more and more difficult to follow and evaluate. Maybe DP could set separate topic headings for "OFFERS" vs "COMMITS." The "RECRUITS" topic in football and basketball for me at least, have become too unwieldy. Maybe I am the only one who feels this way and perhaps I should have posted this somewhere else, because it does not really address the topic at hand: but I thought I'd at least get it out there.
  7. UA beats West Virginia 3-0; wins the FGCU Invitational. Even if fgcu wins tonight UA only team in invitation with 3 wins.
  8. I am at the purple level; just short of gold. I admit to playing the system a little, by using my "Priority Points Rank:" to insure Sefcu parking. If you don't mind revealing your rank or at least an approximate rank range, as I would like to get a feel if "gold level" is doing any better. Of course this is a PRIVATE matter and if if you prefer not to reveal, I fully understand. But two things that might help get you back to Sefcu are: for Basketball there are more spots available than for Football, so be sure to check again. AND TWO: when the gdac Priority Points Rank: was set up it used a history of only 5 years; Justin Brown made some manual corrections for really old timers. If you feel your rank is/was understated, you may want to contact Justin. Anyhow good luck getting back into Sefcu; and any info you can give how gold is doing would be appreciated.
  9. Nothing official. 10/6 alumni game. 10/13 fall ball tournament. Army, Hopkins (maybe????), Richmond participated in past but NOT this year. 10/20-21 open recruitment day, whatever that means (do not know if this is even legal??)
  10. plus if you already have a ticket {i.e. season ticket holder} CANNOT exchange it for "the Field Club." [Not that I would want to; but it might be fun to do once and have a beer or two If it WAS available .]
  11. Call out to the UA Volleyball team. Won their first match today 3-0 vs Western Illinois and then came back from 0-2 to beat the home team 3-2 in the Florida Gold (or Gulf?) Coast Tournament in Ft Myers. They play West Virginia tomorrow @ 1. Huge crowd in Ft Myers. UA showed a lot of boise coming back. Got significant minutes from 3 freshman. This is a Very good UA team. Be sure to come and support them when they get home to University Gym. 3 and 5 overall so far against some very good completion. Anyone know if TIANGCO,Tatiana (#1) is injured? She has not played in the last 2 or 3 matches. I only ask because the Gulf Coast announcer kept reminding us that fgcu was missing their best player. Tatiana was out 3rd best "killer " last year.
  12. I get Fox, Fs 1&2 from Verizon Fios. Fox Atlantic is an extra subscription which I do not get. Does that mean I will not get the game on Fox Sports Go or Fox Sports App?? When I looked I could not find it listed in future games on either Ap? Anyone know for sure??
  13. Weird thought? I know he is listed as a middie but what about Kyle Casey @ quarterback. At 6'4" he gets a good look @ things from behind the net; and I may have imagined it but when he did get minutes last year he seemed to be coming from behind the net. I might be wrong but I think both his goals came on wrap arounds?? The more I look at it; this years sophomore class (especially @ mid and attack) seems loaded???? I wonder if the high expectations and pressures of last year is the reason we did not see them much as freshman. Given the chance to play, this group may really shine. Here's hoping anyhow????
  14. 2018, THANKS for your thoughts and "throwing out things." Seems like that is all we can do for now with no info coming from UAlbanySports.com etc. I would keep Jakob @ the 4 where he seems most comfortable and seems to beat any shortie he is up against. Maybe pair Mitch (Laffin) with Tehoka. They played together @IMG and he did look good freshman year; even though he was a non-entity last year?? Agree, need to see more of Ron John (seemed to get at least a point or two in all of his world cup games this summer.) Noah has been an enigma since year one. Came pretty highly touted, played a lot in fall ball each year and in winter scrimmages; but disappears during the regular season. Maybe his senior year will be a break-out! Liked Schwab's toughness and attitude @ Umass last year. I was @ the game and I am pretty sure he played the role of enforcer and took the major penalty when Umass started getting chippy. Anyhow, keep sending thoughts!!!!!!!!!!
  15. I've been pretty quiet on football (a lot of Yeh's out there!); but feel compelled to support the gg haters/doubters. Like many/some I was very upset/concerned about his extension. I've gotten beyond that and am willing to "quietly" give him this year. But I feel compelled to remind bloggers I NEVER bought into the so called HUGE gap between the northeast and the caa. IMHO I have/do disagree with those who have used the "major stepup excuse" to buy gg time. So I'll try to keep my complaints/criticisms to myself; but produce this year or fire his a$$ or I may have to consider not renewing my season tickets next year (and I go back to club game 1).
  16. Starks has been awful since day one. Not to pick on him but he has a D3 leg; and well his accuracy less than that. His first year alone he cost us two or three losses almost single handedly. And I've seen only minimal improvement since. Only kicks into the end zone if strong wind at his back
  17. Back to lacrosse. I heard contact has been signed syracuse playing @ UA this season. No announcement yet??
  18. I also got to talk to Benson for a few minutes. High-lites: Casey is more than likely permanent home for men's lacrosse. Fallen Field is definitely being resurfaced, {" Too many teams are using Casey" he did not say why?} Fallen will be used for soccer [I bet woman's lacrosse & soccer, my guess.] When I asked him if Fallen Field could be covered, he looked at me like I had three heads. Coach G had been complaining that practice had to be cut short because of the weather; so I asked Benson wouldn't be nice to have an air conditioned FIELD HOUSE. He said unless I had 10 million to donate, not to count on it. But then he said something interesting that the field house would be more important in the winter because all sports practice year round and there is not enough room for all season practices/workouts. I wanted to say if the need was there/justified he should do his job and get it done; but I simply said that the STATE of NY should be responsible for the 10 million. He laughed and again mentioned I should not hold my breath. He seemed very reluctant to talk about any of this, but I got one last jab in and said we lost the NYGiants because we could not come up with an indoor year round fulll size practice facility. A little off topic; but his intro to the event included that we are playing a power 5 team for the first time (true for football but NOT true in pretty much all other sports.) Benson said, we have first class facilities, first class tailgating and season ticket holders need to all bring their "friends" so more in the community can become involved with UA. Of course he thanked season ticket holders and GDAC, while asking for more. Not to kick a dead horse, but I'm thinking what are you (Benson) doing to increase community involvement and monies; which kind of led to my conversation with him later. Sorry about the rant, but I am really starting to question if Benson is the right man for the job. Not that I love him and obviously a different animal, but if Kaloyeros was trying to build a program, he would have found a way to wrestle money from the State and Community {maybe not honestly!}
  19. But is it listed as espn, n2, n3, or nU; than free but if listed as espn+ must have subscription?? I believe?????
  20. Thanks for the post. I watched Stevie grow up. I am proud of him for speaking up on such and important issue. I wish him WELL.
  21. . I wonder if academics is the issue. Cannot possibly make that much money in the NLL???? Most players do not even make a living wage and must work a regular job. NLL is more like a second job or extra income. Anyone know the salary range for NLL players? I believe Lyle is/was the highest paid player and even he only survives on his endorsements as far as I hear?????
  22. Maloney was a two way midfielder and a GOOD one. But I remember him more for his offense. A little puzzled why he would be hired as a DEFENSIVE coach??
  23. Do we need a subscription for "Great Danes TV." I have not used it in a long time, because all other sports were/are on america east tv or espn?? Also, anyone know what UAsports are moving from espn3 to espn+?? Will AmericaEast TV still be free?
