There's literally no pressure on anyone next season. Hopefully they can all play loose and adjust as we go. Whatever happens happens. Can't get worse than a first round exit this year in the quarters.

There is the battle for who gets to sit at home and watch the playoffs on ESPN3 (err the new ESPN+) but I doubt we will sink the the Bing level.

Start Clark, Healy, Campbell, Lulka, and French. Get significant minutes from any combo of deSousa, Rizzuto, Hank, Lauderdale, Fromm, and Brooks.

It is silly to say, but the team actually looks better and deeper next year. Gotta keep the purple and gold glasses in check though because the team looked deep this year, yet only 7 played any significant minutes, and look how that turned out.

I'd love to see the America East deal with a lineup of: Healy, deSousa, Campbell, Hank, and French. (6'3", 6'6", 6'6", 6'10", 6'11") or maybe: Brooks, Clark, Fromm, deSousa, Campbell (5'9", 6'1", 6'4", 6'6", 6'6") Both would be fun to watch.

Do we count Frucio as a junior...lol

I only included scholarships. If he was given one, it would go to 4. Not that I am in any position to say so, but I wouldn't be against Brown giving him one for his junior and or senior years. He has become a big part of the personality of the team, done media exposure for the team, and is a fan favorite. Only local kid still on the team and draws some fans. Give him a ship so we don't have to deal with the Reese Williams blogs all over again in 2 years.

  3. With the team so young... as of now next year's scholarships are 1 senior, 3 juniors, 2 sophomores, and 5 freshman. I'd love to see a grad transfer that can help immediately. Especially at the 4/5. Then maybe a SG with a quick release? Team currently has 4 point guards, 3 SF, 2 PF, and 2 C on scholarship.  0 SG's. at least based on positions at verbal commits.

  4. So right now the team looks like:

    • PG: Clark, Healy, Brooks, Fruscio(WO)
    • SG: Rizzuto, Fromm
    • SF: Campbell, deSousa
    • PF: Lulka, Lauderdale
    • C: French, Hank
    • 2 Scholarships left to give

I moved Fromm from the 3 to the 2 because he is only 6'4" and I don't think that is really a 3 in the AE. I moved Rizzuto from the 1 to the 2 as the team already has 3 other scholarship PG's. I could see Healy moving to the 2 as well with his shooting.

Honestly, on paper the team looks like it is starting to come together nicely. It will take a magician Will Brown coaching job to bring them together as a team to compete, but to me this still looks like a top 3/4 team in the AE with how bad the bottom of the league is.

Clark and Campbell as captains? Campbell will be the only Senior?

I say grab a grad transfer big to help improve the young bigs, then convince Cremo to stay for his last year or give the final scholarship to Fruscio for 1 season and see what can be done for the follow year.

  5. Is kikuria Gordon Graham? I am not sure I have ever seen a post from this person that isn't about title IX, adding Crew, or taking the time to talk about how toxic and bad the athletic department culture is. It almost feels like a personal vendetta.

We get it. You are pissed that they cut tennis. We get it, you think they should put a crew team on the Hudson. Your point has been received.

    Best line from the article....

Last November, the person said, Pete Durr, director of basketball operations, had allegedly told players and aides when they were at an airport in Charleston, S.C., that they wouldn't be paid their per diems that day because the coaches had spent the money on a large bar tab.

  7. Some Louisville fans suggesting Cremo is their starting SG for next year if he were to play there.

Obviously it is just several fans, but the common wisdom has always been that the top AE players would only get mop up time in the big conferences. I think 5-10 minutes in the A10 is a comment that was thrown around.

I'll be interested to see how it plays out. Where they land, and how much play they get. I don't think either would leave if they didn't think they would be a major piece wherever they go. You don't transfer from a starring role to sit the bench unless it's for academic reasons.

Isn’t that place still a little radioactive? It would be a shame to go there and find out years after your one and done that the year has been expunged  from the record books. At least the hookers and strippers are probably off the table now.

You are probably right. I was just posting what I saw as some implied that Joe wouldn't be able to go to an ACC level school.

Without Patino, the hookers and strippers might have been the only draw left...

  9. I am sure there a plenty of offers out there the VC doesn't have, but my targets would be:

    C: Atun Maričević

    SG: Kawsnise Wilkins

    PG: Banks

2 would be Juniors next year and 1 would be a sophomore so it would kind of even out the classes. All 3 would help fill positions of need.

Then if we could fill the last 2 spots with grad transfers of our own, it would make the scholarships be at 3 Sr, 3 Jr, 2 Soph, 5 Fresh and a walk-on.

  10. Still very sad to see them both go. It saddens me to see the anger and insults thrown in this thread. One or both of them could come back still, and I would welcome them with open arms (didn't Lyles get a release last year then change his mind and came back?). If I were them reading this board, I would want to get out as soon as possible. UMBC fans begged him to stay and didn't say "Good Riddance"

    1. Shock/Denial - Was this an April Fools Joke?

    2. Pain and Guilt - Was it our fault as fans for being so critical that we drove them away?

    3. Anger and Bargaining - GOOD RIDDANCE

    4. Depression - Well this sucks. Ticket sales will go down. UVM fans will have more ammo against the program in the outbound transfer thread on the AE board. We will go from a potential favorite to competing with Maine/Bing/UML for the team that doesn't have to suffer through a playoff game.

    5. The Upward Turn - We will be ok without them. I hate that they are gone, but oh well.

    6. Reconstruction and Working Through - OK, we never won anything with them here and there always seemed to be tension. We have 5 talented freshman coming in, a new JUCO big, and 5 more scholarships to give. We will be ok. We may not win it all next year, but the team could be exciting to watch.

    7. Acceptance and Hope - I think this is where I am now. I hope they find what they are looking for, and succeed. They did a lot for the program, and they deserve happiness. My biggest hope is that they both make it to the tournament, and UA beats David in the round of 64 and beats Joe in the round of 32 en route to the UA's first Sweet 16 game!

  11. Good riddance? Seems you've already moved on to the next step of dealing with loss... Anger. Acceptance comes soon.

I would like to thank both of them for all they have contributed to the program. From their freshman year... Cremo's ROY/6th man season and although Nichols didn't play, I enjoyed watching him show off the ups in warm ups, to their sophomore and junior years of excellence. They both played hard, competed hard, practiced hard, and represented the program and the school well. I hope they both succeed wherever they go. Nichols to Loyola Chicago and Cremo to Maryland. (random guessing).

    Thank you boys. Good luck.

Now on to next season. Time to reload, not rebuild.

I heard they cremo and Nichols did not get along. Like at all. So I'm a little surprised both are leaving.  But like many have said, cant cry about it. Just need to move on.

None of us out of the program know, but I remember the news being that they were best friends and roommates. Competetive in video games.

Its Conway and Cochran as per Verbal Commits.  I'm ok with that.

If its gotta be two, then those are probably best case scenario names to list. Neither got a lot of PT. I was looking forward to seeing what Cochran could do as he healed. He looked like he could be explosive and a special player. Conway could shoot, and there was definitely minutes available for him next season, I do not know if he is built to be a power forward in D1 ball. He either had to bulk up, or move to the 3, and I am not sure if he had the ball handling skills to play the wing.

I think both could have done big things at UA and wish they weren't leaving, but I wish them both the best. Hopefully they find a spot where they will get minutes, contribute to a teams success, and enjoy using their abilities to get a great free college education.
