  1. Earlier in the year, Clark was making a trick shot during the shoot around before every game. Many videos were posted on twitter, my fave wasn't the one at Memphis that made sportscenter, but one of the ones at home where he made a shot from the SEFCU catwalk behind the basket.

I haven't seen any of these since the OOC schedule. Maybe he stopped? If so, is that the superstitious reason the team stopped playing well?

  2. I know brown still doesn't trust the bench, but I'd love to see him attempt the press from the opening whistle and rotate the guards in out for a bit. The team has 3 capable guards. Run them all for 4 minute stints giving everyone a couple minute break. Every basket the team makes run pressure. Every 2 minutes someone should be checking in. Even if it is only for the first half, it would get the blood pumping.

Brown has always been a grind it out slow it down coach, maybe he needs to inject some energy.

  3. Anyone giving any thought to the $ienaty scheduling? Bussing it out and back to Orono,

and then being back on a bus a little over a day later heading to Bing?

I mentioned that before, and it would have been a great explanation for the poor effort, if it werent for the Hartford and NH games that had the same issues without the travel. I am sure all that time on a bus didn't help, but I am not sure it can be used as an excuse at this moment.

Haters gonna hate. Doesn't change that pesky reality though.

    Go Patriots.

That reality that cheaters sometimes win, and get away with it? Get to bring home the cheerleader or model and people forget about the cheating in time? I mean it's not like they bugged opponents practices, or tried to steal signs, or do any little thing they could to get an advantage.

$iena, you must be a Jets fan. I understand.

Nope. Not even a football fan. As a Yankee Fan, the only football teams I root for are the UA Great Danes, JMU ( which will end this year as Brian Shor is a coworkers nephew and graduating this year), and whatever NFL team is playing against the Patriots.

  5. One poor game with no energy, you blame the players for taking a team for granted.

Two games with no energy, you blame the captains for not inspiring their team.

3.5 games (including the second half of the Maine game) you have to throw the blame at the coach for doing something wrong. Not connecting with the bench to get them to buy in to his system. Not finding a way to get Nichols to change his game if the wrist is affecting his shot. Not doing whatever it takes to motivate the team to play hard against an 0-3 team.

It is hard to play in Maine on Sat. then Bing on Monday, and you can blame the scheduler for that, but at least those two games were supposed to be against the bottom of the league. Something has to change. I'm afraid we just went from a 13/14 seed if they can beat UVM in the chip to being a 15/16/PIG.

All isn't lost, but it's feeling bleak.

  6. Lineup for Thursday:

    PG: Healy / Clark

    SG: Anderson / Cremo

    SF: Cochran / Campbell

PF: Foster / Charles / Conway

    C: Hank / Stire

Give Nichols a week off to rest the wrist. If we are going to beat UVM, we need him but he needs a chance to get healthy.

Edit: over reacting fan post. I don't think WB should or would burn the red shirts. Just venting. I do want to make sure David is healthy though.

  7. I started the season with a 13-3 conference prediction, which is still possible, but I'm not thinking the team has the heart for that. I'm adjusting to 11-5. A split with Vermont, and one more head scratching loss.

I'll still give Brown the edge in the conference tournament, but my hopes of watching 3 games at SEFCU in March are pretty much gone now.

Could happen if we win out, including beating UVM twice, and someone else beats them, but I'm not holding my breath. Pre season I thought NH would beat them in NH to end the conference winning streak, but I'm now thinking that the best chance for a UVM third loss would be at UMBC as UVM plays there for the opening of the new arena.

Not giving up hope yet, but confidence is definitely shaken.

  9. Nice to see him dressed. Anyone know how long he has been back on the floor after his injury? I remember reading somewhere that he should be healthy enough to start practicing again in Jan/Feb. Hopefully the three Aussies are enjoying the season so far and are getting good practice in for next season when they are off Red Shirt. I'd hate to see them, especially Healy, think about transferring because there will be another year of David/Joe in front of him. The bigs will be required to contribute LOTS of minutes next season if the team can't land another recruit.

  10. Conspiracy Theory for the day, based on a comment I heard in the ESPN3 broadcast of this game...

Something was wrong with one of the baskets in the Arena. Maine couldn't buy a bucket in the first half. Easy shots bouncing out. Balls going in and out. In the second half, when UA was shooting at that basket, they started missing shots that should have gone in. It was strange.People have been commenting on the other board on how much better of a second half team Maine has been this season, especially at home.

Maybe it is the New England tradition of cheating and deflategate catching up to them? UA just got out to too big of a first half lead for Maine to come back in the second half?

Umm, I swallowed a goldfish while at UA in the mid 90's... That wasn't the 20's LOL

Same here...easiest night of pledging. ;)

Not for me. Last night of hell week, a few hours before initiation. Put it in a beer and chug. Easy peezy. Lol

You got off lucky. Ours was on a “trust night”. Halfway through pledging. With toilet water as the shooter...

Let me guess? TKE? We weren't cruel with ours. Not sure I could do toilet water. For us, using cheap beer was the cruelest we would go.
