  1. So in the video Coach Brown says the 9 man rotation will be 3 Freshman, 4 Sophmores, 1 Junior and 1 Senior. 3 Freshman - Devlin, Puk, Watts - Surprised 3 Frosh are getting some PT? 4 Sophs - Aronhalt, Black, Metcalf - who is the 4th of Lindfors, Tartt and Iati? 1 Junior - Moore - can Allen be considered a bust? 1 Senior - Ambrose
  2. Wonder if they got a second verbal for 2011 that we don't know about yet? From Brown's website: "Technically we are done with our 2010 and 2011 class. Recruiting never ends and that is how we approach it!" http://www.coachwillbrown.com/thoughts.html
  3. This is from 6/18 so at least he confirmed recently that he is still committed to Albany. Derrick Marks, 6-2, Plainfield (Central) The Hoops Report caught up with Marks at the Oswego East Shootout last weekend. He stated he does remain committed to Albany, where the powerful guard would be an absolute steal in the America East Conference. Marks has a burst in the halfcourt and in the open floor that allows him to get to the basket, where he uses his strength and great body control to finish at the basket. He's constantly in attack mode and is one of the more underrated players in the state of Illinois who is trying to show he can also play some point guard as well. He's among the top 20 prospects in the senior class in both the Hoops Report and Chicago Hoops rankings, yet gets very little fanfare playing in the southwest suburbs. http://blogs.suntimes.com/hoopsreport/2010/06/summer_hits_always_a_certainty.html
  4. Exactly. They will not beat any decent team with these types off Face-Off and Ground Ball stats. Two parts of the game that not only require skill, but heart and desire. The fact that this team not only loses these battles every game, but gets dominted is extremely concerning. Why does it seem like this has been an on-going problem for this team for years and yet nothing changes? TODAY UA Face-offs Won 5 24% UMASS Face-offs Won 16 76% THAT IS JUST PATHETIC!!!!! SEASON UA Face-offs Won 40 36% OPP Face-offs Won 72 64% ONLY SLIGHTLY LESS PATHETIC ON THE SEASON!!!!! TODAY UA Ground Balls 25 45% OPP Ground Balls 31 55% SEASON UA Ground Balls 118 42% OPP Ground Balls 163 58%
  5. Anonymous sources indicate that there may be a related third player who has already determined the fates of the others. How is that for evasiveness? Looks like the third player is their cousin Ty Thompson. Some people on the forums are saying all three committed to Albany, but don't provide any source. Others are saying Ty committed, but the others are still between Albany and Cuse. I guess we'll have to wait for news from an official source. http://www.lacrosseforums.com/showthread.php?p=2229747#post2229747 Some people claiming in the comments section they committed to Albany, but again no source. http://blogs.insidelacrosse.com/2009/11/10/recruiting-roundup-dobyns-to-maryland-ohio-state-thompsons/
  6. Damn Alcorn State (W-L 4-24 RPI 342) and Detroit (W-L 6-23 RPI 281) really sucked last year. If they don't improve this is going to hurt the RPI moreso than playing Syracuse will help, no?
  7. The 2008-2009 high school basketball season tipped off this week around the state. The City/Suburban Hoops Report, which begins its 14th season of covering the high school basketball scene in Illinois, takes a look at the top 65 college prospects to check out in a gym this winter. 52. Mike Black, 5-11, PG, Oak Park (Fenwick) .... A player who knows what he is--a true point guard, with a good first step and ability to get into the lane and to the basket. Heading to North Florida Albany. http://blogs.suntimes.com/hoopsreport/2008...65_in_2009.html As the holiday tournaments take a one-day break before picking up again Monday, Dec. 29, one of the stories of this holiday tournament season thus far has been the play of some of the second-tier college prospects. They may not be ranked in the top 10 or 20 in the senior class, they may not be headed to high-major colleges or have even committed to a school yet. But they have shined bright so far in holiday tournament action. Here is a look at a few of those players that have lifted their teams with their stellar play. Mike Black, Fenwick. Truly one of the underrated guards in the state. Black can break an opponent down off the dribble, penetrate at will and get to the basket. Most importantly, he understands his role, doesn't try to do too much and makes good decisions. He was sensational in his team's win over Foreman, whether it was scoring 26 points or setting up teammates. Black and Fenwick did lose to in the quarterfinals but Black and Fenwick continue to surprise. http://blogs.suntimes.com/cgi-bin/mt-searc...IncludeBlogs=72
  8. http://illinoishsbasketball.com/index.php?...19&Itemid=1 6 Committed Sleepers to Watch Seth Evans 6-0 G Seneca (Wisconsin Green-Bay) Troy Snyder 6-7 F Bollingbrook (Wisconsin Green-Bay) Matt Sullivan 6-4 wing Loyola (Brown) Colin Nickerson 6-3 G Waukegan (Fairfield) Zeke Upshaw 6-5 wing (Illinois State) Mike Black 6-1 PG Fenwick (Albany) I changed the school for Black
  9. Here are a couple of articles on his previous recruiting. http://illinoishsbasketball.com/index.php?...44&Itemid=1 http://illinoishsbasketball.com/index.php?...53&Itemid=1
  10. Here is a picture of him. http://yourseason.suntimes.com/boys_basket...foreman.article
  11. TU blog has it as well directly from the kids Father. http://blogs.timesunion.com/collegesports/?cat=6
  12. Scout has him giving a verbal to UNC-Greensboro http://scouthoops.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p...amp;nid=3518344
  13. Does anyone know how UNC Greensboro compares to Albany academically? Looks to be a factor in his decision with some of the schools he is/was considering.
  14. Anyone hear anything about McRae? Is he staying? I think they were having their one on one meetings with Coach Brown last week so I would assume this has been decided. Haven't seen anything reported though. Hopefully, no news is good news and he is coming back.
  15. Saw this on the Lax Power board, thought I would pass it along here: http://network.laxpower.com/laxforum/viewt...1&start=200 Sacred Heart Scrimmage by best in show on Sun Feb 08, 2009 9:39 am The team looked pretty strong yesterday. The game was fairly tight throughout due to the play of Sacred Heart's goalies but Albany pulled away in the end to win by 3-4-5 goals. Once they put everything together in the next few weeks, they should be a very good team this year. There were some very nice goals yesterday. Just about every goal was an absolute rip (Rocky B, Caufield, Small, Brock, Pompo, Banks, and others...) FYI- Caufield started and played most of the day at attack but did venture down and take some faceoffs towards the end of the game. Kyle Crotty looks to be the one to take over the do it all middie role. He didnt leave the field too many times yesterday. BIS's goal of the day belongs to Rocky B......sick stick fake which had everyone looking the other way followed up by a crank to the top corner. veddy nice.
  16. No mention of this William Phillipy kid. Wonder why he is not included as it seems he is definitely going to Albany. http://www.pennlive.com/hssports/football/....xml&coll=1
  17. Didn't see this mentioned before, but Inside Lacrosse had the Albany incoming freshman class ranked #9 in the country. Gotta love the direction this program is headed. Some of the comments have good things to say about the Danes as well. http://blogs.insidelacrosse.com/2008/08/18...0-mens-classes/
  18. Looks like this guy might be in the fold as well: William Phillipy | OLB Hometown: Camp Hill , PA Trinity High School Position rank: OLB # 157 Ht: 6'1" Wt: 198 http://recruiting.scout.com/2/827102.html http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/...26season%3d2009
  19. That's a little extreme don't you think? You FEAR this team? Will it be a hard fought road game - yes. Does the history of this series have any relevance - no. Take it for what it is...another OOC game on the road we hope the Danes pull out. I understand the history of the series, but are we really at the point where we should fear them?...I would say no. This will actually be the first time I see the team live. Tried to get to the Columbia game, but got delayed and stuck in traffic. Maybe I'll catch some of you guys at the game. The weather could cause some problems though for people traveling.
  20. Maybe the win over Bucknell in 2006-2007. I think they had some pre-season top 25 votes that year.
  21. Does anyone else think that Blakely is going to have it a lot tougher this year if Coach Brown decides to put Will Harris on him? I mean Blakely pretty much does all his damage inside the key. You take the 6-6 240 pound Harris and stick him on 6-5 220 Blakely and I think he might struggle against the Danes. I'm not saying he gets shut down or anything, but I don't see any 20 and 10 this year for Blakely against the Danes.
  22. I went to high school at Iona Prep. Maybe I need to visit the old stomping grounds and sell him on Albany..haha
  23. If you go to this website and select the local sports videos category you can watch the interview with Will Harris. Looks like he is visiting Marist and Valpo this weekend and will make his decision either this weekend or early next week. http://www.fox23news.com/mediacenter/local.aspx
