Haven't been able to watch it, but saw an update for the Cuse game. 9-9 at half. Wish I was home watching. Seems like it is living up to the billing. So far at least. -
He signed his LOI. Brown wouldn't be able to mention him by name and the school wouldn't announce it if he didn't. http://www.ualbanysports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=15800&ATCLID=209308216

History still matters even if you choose to dismiss it. Yes, Albany can compete with Syracuse and Hopkins now, but let's not act like we are at the same level just yet. We will get there soon enough, but have some patience. -

Lacrosse Alumni Game

Here are highlights from the Yale scrimmage. Thompson's doing their thing as usual. The goal at the 4:55 mark by #45 (Connor Russell I think) was pretty sweet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmEv3HaNbyI http://www.laxmagazi...DB_OEM_ID=15800 http://www.insidelac...DB_OEM_ID=15800 http://www.insidelac...ld-2013-success -
Rivals had Odunsi as a 3* coming out of high school (ESPN and Scout had him at 2*). Signed with Utah, but had offers from Colorado St., Iowa St., Penn St. and Vanderbilt. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Anthony-Odunsi-93756

Maybe we can get this guy to donate some of his billions to Albany "So he moved upstate, took some classes at the Albany branch of the State University of New York, and started a wholesale feta cheese business called Euphrates". http://finance.yahoo...-212410183.html

He is talking about the Andrew Santillo tweet about Connor Fields. Verbal commit to Albany. -
Was interested in how to pronounce his name and found this in his Witchita State Bio - Full name is Osamuede Egharevba, but prefers Ede (Eddie e-VAC-a-baa)

Let's not overblow this. Lyle is clearly one of the best players in the country and is the catalyst for this team. With the full Thompson trio on the field Albany is still the team to beat in the AE and if they make the tourney a tough opponent for any team in the first round. -

There goes the slim chance they had of an at large bid. -

Men's Basketball PG Commitment- Mike Black
slickwilly replied to haggyland's topic in Winter Sports-Danes Hoops, Track
The 2008-2009 high school basketball season tipped off this week around the state. The City/Suburban Hoops Report, which begins its 14th season of covering the high school basketball scene in Illinois, takes a look at the top 65 college prospects to check out in a gym this winter. 52. Mike Black, 5-11, PG, Oak Park (Fenwick) .... A player who knows what he is--a true point guard, with a good first step and ability to get into the lane and to the basket. Heading to North Florida Albany. http://blogs.suntimes.com/hoopsreport/2008...65_in_2009.html As the holiday tournaments take a one-day break before picking up again Monday, Dec. 29, one of the stories of this holiday tournament season thus far has been the play of some of the second-tier college prospects. They may not be ranked in the top 10 or 20 in the senior class, they may not be headed to high-major colleges or have even committed to a school yet. But they have shined bright so far in holiday tournament action. Here is a look at a few of those players that have lifted their teams with their stellar play. Mike Black, Fenwick. Truly one of the underrated guards in the state. Black can break an opponent down off the dribble, penetrate at will and get to the basket. Most importantly, he understands his role, doesn't try to do too much and makes good decisions. He was sensational in his team's win over Foreman, whether it was scoring 26 points or setting up teammates. Black and Fenwick did lose to in the quarterfinals but Black and Fenwick continue to surprise. http://blogs.suntimes.com/cgi-bin/mt-searc...IncludeBlogs=72 -

Per alum73 in the srimmage thread the exhibition game is Nov. 3, against a much better Canadian team than last year's.

Coach Brown expects both Iati and Ross to be ready for opening day per his website. Note sure if this is wishful thinking, but he knows more about the injuries than any of us, so hopefully they aren't that serious. http://www.coachwillbrown.com/thoughts.html

The 6'2 thing got me confused also, but according to the article linked above Chauncey Gilliam who plays for LEAP is originally from Columbia, MD (which made me think that this was the same guy). Not sure though. "Gilliam, who scored 18 in the South Jersey Group 1 title game, transferred to LEAP for this school year. He was an all-county player at Hammond High School in Columbia, Md., during the 2004-05 season, according to The Washington Post. Gilliam also established residency in Pennsauken".

Is this the same guy? Why do they say he is class of 2008 here? Chauncey Gilliam, Columbia, Md.: Gilliam, another class of 2008 member, wowed onlookers throughout the camp with his highlight reel dunks and sheer athleticism. At roughly 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, he can play either guard slot, although he has a scorer's mentality. Gilliam's perimeter shot still needs some work, but if he becomes more consistent in that aspect of his game, he could be a high-major recruit. One observer noted that Gilliam's game was quite similar to that of former Georgetown standout Victor Page, an assessment with which I would completely agree. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/news?slug=ri...tory_recruiting
