  1. Let's hope Suero has a smokin game, and his alma mater is mentioned every time he scores!
  2. And now where does this leave Suero? Will he participate in any NBA team camps? Didn't hear a thing about the nba draft, and I assume nothing to note.
  3. It sounds like he was covering his arse in the AE, in case they didn't get an invite. Unfortunate for him, looks like the door was slammed in his face. No invite. Again unfortunate for him, he doesn't know better to keep his trap shut. Seems clear he wasn't happy with the AE, and just confirmed it.
  4. The University Administration has not really done anything over the past 10 years (President Hall excluded) to show it wants to compete and be successful on a CAA level of football. And if even if they want to, they've proven inept at matching resources or the bells and whistles of the CAA. I'd say its a 10% chance we're in and only if about 3 or 4 teams reject offers. Hopefully I'm wrong. The SOCON imposed deadline for its schools to make a decisioin was July 4. Somebody's got to know something. "north and south of its mid-Atlantic base... schools that will suddenly become part of a different geographic footprint..." Charleston, Davidson, App State, Elon & Furman are all mid to southern in geographic location.... There's a glimmer of hope for UAlbany football, right? Especially with Maine and UNH football programs to keep happy. Time to start a northeast football conference? Travel for Maine and UNH is going to be hell, if Albany and SBU aren't added. If we were able to draw away Maine and UNH to a new football conference, who would we need to make up the conference to make it equal to the CAA football conference, in your opinions?
  5. Thanks for the upclose shots 72. I drove through campus last Friday after my son's surgery, but didn't have time to jump out. The dirt pile is much bigger in person. Do we have any guesses on when the next phase will start? I love the dirt and all, but..
  6. Gone is one of the ANTI football voices in the AE though.... correct?
  7. Anyone know the salary of UA's AD position?
  8. So, it's been approximately 7 months since Philip announced his retirement. Just how far along are we in the process, really? http://www.albany.edu/presidentialsearch/announcements_and_reports.php
  9. Seems to me like a two edged sword. Stony brook success does bring a small amount of attention to the AE conference, and to SUNY. There is tremendous value for Stony Brook of course. But for UAlbany? Does the small amount of attention UAlbany garners from their success have any significance when evaluating the negative impact SBU's success has on our university? Our biggest opponent in many ways is Stony Brook. We compete on the field and off the field for athletes, students, and govt funds. Personally, their success makes me uneasy. I tend to route for SBU getting hammered every time it competes for anything.
  10. If it relates to UA basketball, I'm all for catching a glimpse of his tweet above. If it doesn't relate, no interest here. I'm just surprised there are SO many non-program related tweets. Not particularly refering to Brown, but for most people, it almost feels like an ego thing. The belief that people want to hear your every thought. Anyhow, my Celtics lost. I'm bummed. I expect to see the Cs split up. Fun ride.
  11. It's always an interesting conversation though... I need someone to chat with... Back on topic, he tweeted 9 or 10 times during the game, from the look of things above on DP's twitter board ?????????????????
  12. He uses twitter so much that either he has an addiction, or has no family to talk to at home.
  13. Will Brown tweeted that he's a NYer but a lifelong Celtics fan, BUT, wants the Heat to win tonight. He says James is underappreciated for his talent. Well let me say, I was Born in Boston, grew up in NY, and have always been a Celtics fan... and would never say that I wanted another team to win a game 7 in the conference final. Not a true Celtics fan.
  14. LCC football withered up and died a nasty death. As for Union or RPI, at least we'd knock some reality into some heads around the CD... I like the name recognition of Villanova or Georgetown, that would gather attention.
  15. The problem is... the time is now. Now's not the time to be stuck in neutral. I hope, truly hope, Albany is actively persuing an upgrade someway, somehow. The NEC has always struck me as a small time dead end. With their reluctance to even go to 40, I wonder what is really happening, and what change they would actually consider. My hats off to SBU. We all knew that moving to the Big South was a sign of strength and balls. They are doing what it takes to make a name for themselves. With a stadium and then adding max schollies, they knew they would grow... and with that, comes bigger and better opportunities. We're getting a first phase of a mini stadium now.... but need to address the scholarship and full rides NOW... and get there. There is no time to wait. The ship is pulling away from the dock. Are we jumping on, or not. Let's go McElroy. Time to whip out those nuts, and start making a name for yourself, and make your mark on this university
  16. What jumped out at me was: "whether we want to increase that number down the road, or whether that's a good comfortable number for us" talking about scholarships reaching 40 for the 2013 season. Sounds like they aren't dedicated to fully scholly football. Maybe they'll reach 60 by 2080
  17. Alot of good comments here. I can't see how the CAA can overlook both UAlbany and Stony Brook. Both big state universities of NY and both already affiliated with UNH and Maine. It just makes sense. It also makes sense that they expand in the north, to accomodate UNH and Maine, and keep them happy. It would also make our rivalries with those two schools, and SBU, more intense. If UAlbany's leadership is not pushing for this, then they aren't worth their salt. I'd think that UNH and Maine would also be pulling for both of our schools to be offered.
  18. Or he could be doing a 'will brown' move, and leveraging for more cash at rider
  19. You would have to think that Maine and UNH would be putting in good words for us and SBU. For many reasons.
  20. Has anyone from the UAlbany community EVER expressed publicly, in any sense, that we would be interested in the CAA? Besides us people.....?
  21. Why these two schools? Are they both publicly voicing their desire to join the CAA? I know bloggers have opinions but... I know the names have been floating around, but I haven't really paid much attention on why they'd be offered positions besides sbu & NY's media market, although it is over an hour away.. farther away than Hofstra. As for CC, which media market would be making them attractive? Charelston or Columbia aren't very close.
