Cars parked on the grass fields behind the scoreboard looked janky as hell on tv last year

After this week's storm (3" rain), the grounds between the proposed entrance and parking area are saturated. As I recall, the ground under the grass is clay.  Good luck with getting to the parking lot.

Actually Vic Ceg..... was at pratcice the other day,  They have widened to entrance/drive by the Baseball field and cars will be sent in that way,  Probably will not come as far in the fields as behind the scoreboard.  The new purple pads were installed along the berm wall as well.

So will people who park there have to walk all the way up to the main entrances, or will there be kids with scanners at the southeast corner of the field, after which if fans want to go to the main grandstand they either circle the field above the berm, or go thru the field club behind the south end zone and up that single-wide steel staircase to section 101-102?

Just read the announcement on the web site - https://ualbanysports.com/news/2024/8/21/athletics-announces-new-football-game-day-parking-setup.aspx

"In the case of inclement weather, the university will reserve the right to adjust parking prior to game day. In this event, single game parking will revert back to Dutch Lot. If an adjustment is to be made, fans will be notified 48 hours prior to game time."

see now this is silly. If you want parking near the stadium and not Dutch, pave the damn thing. It's clearly not a "practice field" anymore. It's open patch of grass with no purpose. It's gonna look like garbage not matter what post game, especially if tailgating is taking place. By end of the season the area will be a dead patch. Make it the size of SEFCU lot and call it a day.

Hard to believe it will look bad with parking 1 day a month and weather dependent.  I've been to many events where parking is on grass.

Tanglewood in Lenox and Glimmerglass in Coperstown two pretty highbrow entertainment venues,  both pretty much all grass parking. Both used extensively all summer; some spring and fall. Never hear any complaints about parking at either.

ps. the walks from the outer lots at Tanglewood make the walk from Dutch a hop skip and a jump.😉

pss. rather than spend money on paving parking lots; I would HOPE the money would go towards BETTER facilities {aka A FIELD HOUSE.}

That is such bs they should have banners for M and WLax and Football.  Championships are important and should be honored as such.  There are other places to Nickel and Dime.  Not saying it should be $10000.  But a thousand should be able to get you a nice banner that you can add too.  Please don't tell me the banners for mens and womens basketball cost 10,000.

I agree.  Not having banners for every championship is terrible.  Find a place and hand them.  Even if they are on the side of the elevator tower.  SHOW OFF!
