Congrats to Coach Mueller and Co.---America East Champions! on to the NCAA Tournament!!!! What a tournament !!!!

Ditto Purplehaze's thoughts on the tournament. I just got back from today's games and made the first game to see who UA was playing with 5 minutes to spare before first pitch. Our game was incredible. In the first game today Binghamton hit 4 Maine pitchers all over the park for a 13-4 win. In our game Binghamton had a man in scoring position in 7 of the 9 innings. Cory Warrings and the defense were great getting the third out each time without Binghamton scoring. 3rd baseman Steve Wyland made 2 good plays with runners crossing in front of him in the fifth and sixth to end those threats. Add in Sean Gregory getting out of the 7th and 8th and Alexander Beaulieu getting out of the ninth with a man on third with 2 K's including a beautiful called strike 3 to end the game.

Did the team rush the field and celebrate, etc.? What was the scene like??!!

Yes and the team was ready to rush a couple times before they actually got to rush the field as the were a couple of pitches both to the next to last batter(who ended up walking) and the last batter that looked like they should have been called strike 3 to end the game. The scene was great. The team was generally excited and got coach with the "bucket". Both teams played hard and after a short UA celebration they line upped and shook hands. Then the all tournament teams and trophy presentation , followed by pictures, etc.

I have a feeling they will be in Chappel Hill, Houston or Nashville for our regional. The team will be ranked probably one of the final 5 seeds in the field. HOWEVER, THAT COULD SPELL SUCCESS!!! WHY YOU ASK? Because you can almost guarantee that those games will be on ESPNU, CSTV or one of the live stations covering the NCAA Tournament first round, since they like to cover those high ranked teams.

Do the top-seeded teams ever get knocked off (first round) in NCAA baseball tournament action? In baseball, a team is often only as good as its starting pitcher (pitching, pitching, pitching), so a good performance---I would think---by a lower-seeded team's pitcher can at least give that lower-seeded team a shot at upsetting one of the higher-seeded teams. Or is there a disparity in college baseball that is just too much to overcome?

Since like softball and our conference tournaments these are double-elimination rounds, it's not just pitching but DEPTH of pitching that's needed, and getting to the winner's bracket is a huge advantage. With Albany's RPI of 194, we'll be against a top-ten team in the first game.

Look for the Danes to be matched up in a Regional against the likes of Vanderbilt, Rice, Arizona State or Texas. Alot depends on where they get placed. UA's RPI is 194 out of 293 D1 Baseball Programs, so a date with one of the above is a possibility.

The Myrtle Beach Regional vs. #7 Coastal Carolina is a possibility.
