1. "UAlbany Athletics"

I'm so sick of hearing some Albany posters claiming athletic dept. superiority any time this game is discussed.

If I'm not mistaken, it was a former Siena baseball player who had five major league starts this year and struck out Barry Bonds on national TV. It was the Siena women's basketball team that went on the road and beat a Big 12 school (Coloarado). It's the Siena women's volleyball team that is making their thrird straight appearance in the NCAA's. Oh, and let's not forget a men's college basketball game played at the TUC last weekend. We can also expect bigger and better things from the men's lacrosse program.

While I am not claiming athletic dept. superiority, I think Siena is doing a pretty darn good job considering our enrollment size and lack of state funding.

Bottom line, the one sport argument doesn't fly with me.

Finally, for the umpteenth time, STATE FUNDS CANNOT BE USED FOR ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIPS!

I love it!!!!! Way to go, D96!

I would also add, off the top of my head, National Division I LAX 2007 Coach of the Year ...

To just add some more heat to the fire:

With regard to track and field, "in previous USA national competitions, the Great Danes have produced five junior All-Americans, including Greene, Jessica Ortman, Jenna Ortman, Alyssa Lotmore and Ryan Gaedje." Moreover, how can we forget the incredible individual performances at NCAA Nationals of Joe Greene (4th or 5th in the 400h, correct?) and Marc Pallozzi, who finished eighth in the javelin at the NCAA championships.

And with regard to track and field and x-c, that's just the tip of the proverbial iceburg ... .

KJMAC--

Which reply? The one about the MAAC being superior that the AE.

I guess it was funny...but it IS arguable.

The MAAC is a dying league of small catholic school nobodies.
