In 99.9% of the cases, I agree but on the off chance you have slow data because you are not on an unlimited plan, etc. I could see this being an issue. However, that being said, I'd just take a screenshot of the barcode before I went to the game if I was worried about that. I do the same with my wife when we fly...I have all of the airline apps on my phone and just screenshot her boarding pass and send it to her, works just fine.
