Well Stony Brook was being Stony Brook. After a UMBC timeout in set 5 serving for the match Stony Brook served right into the net and never got another point.

Didn't happen....fought to the end. UMBC is VERY good.

Umbc looked like a total different team sets 3-5. I don’t know if their coach gave an amazing Knute Rockne speech or threatened them with death. Either way UA did not seem to believe or ready for umbc’s comeback??

I know absolutely zero about volleyball strategy. Was there a change in strategy that brought about the turnaround or was it just that UA rocked them for two sets and ran out of gas? Records say UMBC should have won and they did.  Really fine athletes on both sides.

Jimbo, I see almost all UA home games and most of the away on AETV. UMBC does have an awesome team and two of the best freshman in the league {so does UA have a couple of excellent freshman.} The teams are IMHO pretty evenly matched overall, and BC obviously handled UA 4 straight times including the title match in the Spring. I really DO NOT have any idea what happened yesterday? BC did make one starting substitution after set 2; and that sub did have a hell of 3 sets; but so did all the rest of their team. It just seemed like UA, thought they they had the match in the bag and was NOT expecting BC to rebound from sets 1 & 2 which UA dominated in every possible way. It was like night and day???????
