Fair enough, I trust Brown and his judgment.

lol @ 3k assistants behind him. I like it.

Haven't seen really much of Fruscio and I don't really know anything about his talent level,
but his energy and enthusiasm I like.  Wonder if putting him in for a few minutes here and there
to hound some of the opponents guards would be an option?  Just to harass a bit, run around
like a madman for a few.

Ummm, never mind.
Hahah. I put my hand in my heads and just laughed. That was bad.

Edit: I meant head in my hands 😂😂. My command of the English language there was as poor as Nick's handling of the ball lol.

Great effort tonight and only getting stronger as the game goes on.

Very proud of our guys for breaking through whatever was in their way and putting on a much much better showing. Still not at the level of our Louisville game but this the team I expected to see in the early part of the AE.

Nichols is stinking up the joint. IMO he's the reason we lost both AE games so far. Shooting the team out of games. I put the games squarely on him and his atrocious FG% and shot selection.

He needs to sit a game or two.

#105024 [MBB] Game #16: 1/3/18 - 7:00pm - vs Hartford

Posted by Eli on 04 January 2018 - 11:39 AM

Hopefully the team reads this board.  And I'm not talking about the coaching.

It was an embarrassment last night.  Several of the starters need to be benched for the tipoff next game.

Sorry, playing like you don't give a $iena is absolutely pathetic.

If they do read this forum I just want them to know that they are great kids and I/we love that we have them (all good students, no problems with the law, etc....our kids are great!) and not to take our ribbing too to heart (or is it to too heart? I'm an immigrant, cut me some slack!) but we're all just very passionate about the program and know they can be better, they've showed it! Just gotta have more desire than what was shown last night. That was a terrible representation of the UAlbany program.

Yep, valuing the ball would be a HUGE start. There were a few passes last night where the receiver just lazily waited for the ball to come to him instead of him going to the ball and all instances resulted in a steal or helter skelter recovery. This was a problem during the Mike Black years too...it was actually worse then if I recall. I don't remember it being as much as an issue with Singletary.

We will go as far as David and Joe take us. But that includes both ends of the floor. Sure they scored well last night and combined for 43 points but Joe let his man blow his doors off like 4-5 times. David had a couple of turnovers being lazy. Both had a few questionable shots from way beyond the arc or just after bringing the ball over the midcourt line without running ANY offense. Surprisingly, Brown only looked mad on a few of them so maybe they are *infact* set plays/decisions but most of the times they feel like ill advised 'heat checks'.

They also play a bit rough inside with that Irish kid and Attia. Clearing out with elbows, etc. That's what had me incensed when Stire was called for 3 fouls on basically one trip down the floor. On the third one he took a charge to make a point and was called for the block instead. People were LIVID at that call.

Lack of D the fist 30 minutes and our bench being completely ineffective doomed us. Joe and David did like 75% of the scoring, combining for 43.

This game is over. We are garbage in this game.

David and Joe keep chucking stupid shots. I don't care if I'm the only one who thinks so...their shot selection is garbage. Early in the clock or like Joe's shot from 4ft behind the line.

And now?

Brown STORMED off the floor. Someone is gonna get reamed out hard. Clipboards may break. I see zero effort right now...just lazily cruising along. They want it 100x more than us right now. Might be a loss if we don't play with some fire. We should be crushing them talent wise...we're playing like $iena right now.

#104915 [MBB] Game #21: 1/18/18 - 7:00pm - vs UMass-Lowell (5th Annual Coaches Cure CF)

Last Up: L (79-66) @ Binghamton

Next Up: vs UMass-Lowell (6-11, 0-4 in the AE...have lost 6 straight and 11 of their last 12 with the win being against Boston U.)
TV/Streaming: ESPN3 (link currently not available)
Local Radio: 104.5 FM

This is the 5th annual Coaches Cure Cystic Fibrosis game.

EDIT: Updated with results of Binghamton game.

We had another TERRIBLE game effort wise which led to us getting run of the floor for much of the game on the road. This team is clearly tired or simply just doesn't care. We have guys just chucking shots, not playing smart and then getting beat on D.

#104908 [MBB] Game #16: 1/3/18 - 7:00pm - vs Hartford

Posted by Eli on 02 January 2018 - 04:20 PM

Hartford has been wacky this year. They've lost to some really bad teams - LIU Brooklyn (twice) and Bryant but have some decent wins over Miami (OH) and Rutgers.

I remember the Attia kid. He's a big guy to move out of the middle - 6'10 and 270. If he could hit free throws he'd be averaging double figures but he's shooting 42% from the line which is actually an improvement from last season.

Wasn't Attia the player who tried to be excessively aggressive against UA in some game in recent years?

Yes. I was at the game last year at UA with my son and daughter. My son said he really didn't like that guy who was being mean to UA players.

I think someone in our section called him Attia the Hun lol.

It's been an amazing ride so far. Yes our OOC ended up being less than advertised on paper in the preseason, but 12-3 is 12-3. We were competitive against all teams, even our losses. Can't ask for more than that during OOC which is meant to ready you for conference play. WE READY.

EDIT: Crazy thing is...we honestly could be 15-0. Like, we had legit chances in all three losses to win those games. Can you imagine that? Imagine we go 14-1 in conference (splitting UVM) or even 15-0? A 29 or 30 win season? WOWZA. We were so close...
