  1. Announcer mentioned that Quinnipiac led the nation in rebounding last year?
  2. Side note: These are arguably the least biased announcers I've heard in quite a while.
  3. Hooley's shooting is off, but he's had about 7 would be assisted taken away by poor team shooting. I never thought I would say this, but I'd like to see us run our offense a little more or at least stop Ray and Pete from taking some of these wild shots where they are alone and drive into several guys.
  4. Big win, considering the injury to Stire and that we are still shooting the ball like crap - not so mich FTs, as that average isnt too far off of last seasons if Im correct. But we will need to be much better with 3s. NJIT is a real solid team, and if we can lose to Kentucky by a reapectable margin, be up on BU and USF late in the games, all while shootingg crappy, we should be very good as D96 points out if we can string it together. Just hope that Cremo's development doesn't come at Peter's expense. Haven't watched as many games as normal as I've been traveling. Is it shot selection ir just not hitting open shots?
  5. There's two ways to look at this: 1. Every year we start OOC crappy. Without looking back at every year in full detail, I feel like we always start 1-3, or 2-4/5 etc. If history is any indicator, we will be just fine. Yes, USF is not a great program, but they are still a big conference school. 2. As a follow up to point #1, why the heck do we always start out so poor? And what can we do to try and change this going forward? Is it scheduling or is it just that our teams start out rusty for whatever reason?
  6. I thought bu was that wake up call. Bottom line is this... You don't make shots, you don't win. Take a look at the shooting percentage of Singletary, hooley and Sanders... That's why we lost. Those all conference guards can't buy a bucket. Combined like 11 for 28 11 for 28 isnt atrocious. 40% for guards isnt terrible. With that being said, our program cannot make that pivotal jump to the high mid-major level a la VCU, for example, until we find ways to beat crappy big conference teams, or at least dominate the BUs of the world. Unfortunate to lose any game up 8 in the latter part of the game, but I'm confident we can right the ship. If history is any indicator..... I've learned to just trust CB
  7. Hard to say I would trade history for what has been a great several years of UA hoops, but would have been interesting to see how he panned out had he not declared. Curious how much more he could have developed at the collegiate level.
  8. I can't fault Sam's play one bit. He was our horse. For the past 2 years, he was the guy we ran the offense through primarily. When we couldn't do anything on offense, we gave the ball to Sam, and said make something happen. Towards the end of last year, we saw Sanders and Singeltary start to take some of the offensive load and have another level of confidence. Unfortunately, Sam's gifted athletic abilities allowed him to be very competitive and efficient in the AE, but we ran into trouble when facing teams like Oklahoma (like most teams do), given Sam being undersized at the D1 level. I will say that when Sam got the ball, I felt that the team got stagnant at times though. I think people stopped cutting and it was more of a post up iso game. Certainly that's not his fault though. With that being said, we don't need much offensively out of our bigs this year. Anything we get from them is icing on the cake in my opinion. We need tough D, rebounding, and the occasional junk yard dog offense. With Peter, Ray, Evan, and Cremo we should have a lot of offense from a guard standpoint. Also through in Dallas with another year of work under his belt. This team reminds me in many ways of our 2005-2006 team. We don't have a Jamar per se, but we do have serviceable big men, and we are fairly good and deep at the 1,2, and 3. I think it will be interesting to see how Coach plans on using the talent. Do we go small ball for stretches, given depth at guard? Does he just reduce starter minutes throughout season and get guys like Cremo more minutes? I have high expectations this year.
  9. Big news... Great for the program.. Congrats Jon!
  10. Die-hard Yank, Knicks, Rangers, and Giants fan. I've been spoiled to have seen many amazing games. This is right there. Aside from the obvious emotional connection for Peter with his shot, there's something so gratifying about standup "youngsters" (I'm 31.. lol) having their moment, especially considering the circumstances.
  11. I suspect this season will be no different than most of recent seasons. We will start out "so-so", with many new parts and start to strengthen towards the end of the year. Hoping that we can get a slightly better jump than recently though. Do think that we are probably the deepest we've been in a while.
  12. They probably do, but kids want to play outside of NY. Just look at St. Johns. I think that's more reflective of NY hoops in general, than it is an indictment of the location. SJU should be a powerhouse year in and out. They should dominate the NYC scene and be very competitive in the tri-state area. The lure of playing routinely in MSG should alone be enough. As someone who lives in Queens (and went to HS 5 blocks away from SJU), they do a terrible job at marketing. It's actually pathetic. I know sometimes we complain about sports marketing at UA, but you'd be shocked at how inept they are at SJU
  13. The part that stinks about all of this is that it's happening about 10 years too late (when I graduated).. lol.. It really is incredible seeing how our athletics program has grown, how the campus has a different feel, and the modern elements that the school has.

  15. Main SportsCenter tonight had a top plays overview (perhaps of the week?), and the Top Lax Goal went to a beautiful goal by Miles, assisted by Lyle. Lyle passed to Miles with Miles' back to the goalie. Miles shot the ball over his shoulder and in. Ridic shot. It's about a 20 second clip. They speak of Lyle being the top lax player, that he went to Albany. Also talks about how ridiculously talented they are and the contributions they are making to lacrosse - how they are changing the way the game is being played. Very neat. Glad to see they are having success for the FL Launch, and that they're being recognized for it post-college careers.
  16. Looks like it was #2. DaShawn Robinson..originally committed to UAlbany..signed with Louisiana Tech. That seems to put us at 13 scholarships. I wonder who changed their mind. Robinson is from Texas so LA Tech is much closer. They're also Conference USA and won 27 games last year. Granted Conference USA isn't what it used to be but it's still solid. Do you mean whether it was the player or CB?
  17. Thoughts? And thoughts on how this could impact AE basketball/our team? I'm a big fan of the 30 second shot clock. http://www.si.com/college-basketball/2015/06/08/college-basketball-rule-changes-30-second-shot-clock-timeouts-backcourt
  18. UK, while very talented, will not be the same team from last year. Would be a ridiculous upset (VERY low probability), but chemistry will be something for them to work on early on, and a veteran team like ours will hopefully allow us to keep it somewhat close, and then you never know..
  19. In all honesty, remove the Siena game from our schedule and what game do our local fans have to be excited about? NJIT? C'mon. Rivalries are very healthy for a program.
  20. Plus, no matter how you dice it, this game is good for the Capital region. It generates interest in basketball in the area and helps us get free promotion.
  21. Once it gets to an even split, I think it will just be expected, and won't be based upon performance, no different than most yearly agreements between rivals OOC etc.
  22. Rome wasn't built in a day. Even if it's a 2 for 1, that's a fair concession to me. We had 0 games, and they had 100% of them. It's almost a meet in the middle.
  23. Of all the schools you listed above (with offers), our program is certainly up there. Outside of Duquesne/Richmond, we are arguably better than most of those programs, imo. Plus, he's a NY kid. Maybe he wants to be somewhat near home. You never know...
  24. Uhh, hello!: http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/11/24/posterized-travis-atson-dunks-all-over-a-6-foot-11-defender-video/ Edit: Couple of other vids I found: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlXJ7aLd0gQ https://vimeo.com/112713949
  25. Looks like we should be loaded for the next year as well at guard and wing.
