Was/is everything as advertised...a POY type of talent if he sticks around. He and Neely will be nice to watch. Cant give DK props about much...he's mostly trash but can't knock getting back to back ROY. He has another chance with Robinson who I think is another up recruit. Can we find people to put around them and can he coach them.

Isn't that the kid who punched another player? What ever happened with that?

BOSTON – University at Albany men's basketball freshman Jonathan Beagle has officially been named the 2022-23 America East Rookie of the Year, the conference announced Friday morning. In addition, Beagle was also named to the Conference's All-Rookie Team.

I actually liked the roster of Brown's last season. Had it not been for the coaching change, we could have returned CJ Kelly, Horton, Rizzuto, Healy and Champion in the backcourt the following year. It's one of the reason I was annoyed. I felt like we went through the down cycle (which are inevitable with mid majors) and would have returned a good group.

I agree with D96, this Will Brown rant is milder than most. I'd always assumed you had something saved in a Google doc and then just pasted it whenever Will Brown's name came up but there's some fresh material in here.

    He's losing a step.

A little off topic question but in general how is the Albany area doing?  Is it still growing or did it turn down since the pandemic.  I live mid way between NYC and Albany.  Home values and our population has seen increases since March 2020.

I moved to Tampa in March 2021 but housing prices went way up in Albany around late 2020/early 2021. I profited about 80k on my 2018 built home in Clifton Park off of exit 8a of the Northway and sold it to a couple who moved from somewhere near or in the City (probably due to COVID restrictions if I had to guess). My taxes were around 10.5k at the time, not sure what the home is taxed at now (EDIT: Looks to be $10,742.78). NY HO insurance $550/yr. In FL, I'm at 5k in taxes but home owners insurance is 3x higher and that's only cause I have a new home (and I'm not in a flood zone/known hurricane corridor). I know people who are paying 6-10x what my NY HO was.

Not sure how the Albany market has faired since I've left but I know Tampa is boomin...traffic here is unbearable lol. Glad I work from home (have been doing so since 2015).

In what world does a new arena not come with increased ticket prices. You want a new arena with all the new amenities you are going to have to pay. If you don’t want to then you’ll stay at home. Simple as that.

My personal take isn't specific to the new arena. It has been a trend with this administration for many years, before SEFCU Reno was even a glint in anyone's eye. Things like parking prices, etc. have all increased or priced out casual fans who are now expected to drop $100+ in tough times for a family of 3 or 4 with concessions, etc. Parking for our small ass program should be free or virtually free in the far lots, not $10 or $15 a car or whatever outrageous price it is today. Charge for SEFCU sure, but Dutch? Gimme a break.

The fact that they treat the GDAC as a form of PSL is laughable too but that's my personal take.

Do they not realize that ESPN+ is an option now?  My couch is really comfortable and the beer is cheep, cold and great tasting.

IMO their thinking is the same as that of NYS. What I mean:

FL has low taxes, people are moving into the state in droves. This means the tax base if very healthy.

NY has high taxes, people are moving out in droves. This means the tax base is not very healthy. This results in the state then taxing even more. And more. And more. To make up for the lost tax base.

The people at UA don't seem to understand basic economics and price out casual fans, which results in less butts in the seats, which results in lost revenue, which results in them trying to recoup said revenue by raising prices which results in even less butts in seats. It's a vicious cycle lol. Meanwhile, they overpaid for a first time HC who happens to have zero coaching ability. Not a great combination.

    It's so simple.

ps. If you think firing DK won’t set the basketball program back at least 2-3 years, you are more an optimist than I. And don’t get me wrong, firing and taking a step backwards may ultimately prove the only course of action.

You're worried about a step backwards with a coach who can't hit the broadside of a barn with his ball of coaching skill? A coach who's won like 32.8% (19-39) of his games over 2 years? (FWIW, Will Brown had a 49.5% winning percentage at UA)

It almost literally can't get any worse, sir. DK isn't drowning (proverbially speaking) and out of his depth as an HC of a D1 program - his proverbial head coaching corpse has been floating down river for a while. The guy is completely unqualified to be a D1 HC at this time.

1 does not prove a thing; does NOT prove an incident even occurred or if it what the incident was. First of all the suspension and fine had zero to do with what the incident was. The fine and suspension were reported for the coach NOT reporting the incident.

    lolwut?

    1) You don't have to report something that didn't happen. Right? You only have to report something that happened.

    2) Clearly something happened or otherwise #1 in my list would apply.

    3) (according to you) The suspension was handed down because #1 DID happen and he failed to self-report. You admit that there was an 'incident'.

So stating that what's being shared so far does not prove that an incident occurred is insane because you also admit an incident occurred otherwise a fine and suspension would not have been issued.

TL;DR: People who believe this talentless 'mental' leader shouldn't be fired yesterday:

While clearly some feel that physical contact (not boxing out or moving a kid into position on the court) by a coach on a player is ok, it is no longer acceptable.  You can think it should or shouldn't be, but it isn't.  That's also a fact.  One side has presented their case in court and publicly (fact).  The other side continues to stonewall (fact).  Does that make them guilty in a court of law?  No.  Is it suspicious behavior to many of us?  Absolutely.  If I'm accused of this (no matter what my attorney tells me) I'm out there giving my side of the story.  I'm getting assistant coaches to tell my story too.  I'm leaking.  I'm screaming.  Yet, nothing.  Silence.  Silence from the top to the bottom.  Still not guilty in a court of law but I've seen/heard enough.  OJ wasn't found guilty in a court of law but he was guilty.

Add to it that we have 1 win in a pretty terrible conference and my scales of justice have been fully tilted.

Except it wouldn't be a silver lining.

As far as the topic at hand.

I know a couple of things.

    1) The actions were bad enough to warrant a 5 game suspension.

2)The way the suspension was handled was ridiculous. A 5 game suspension announced the off-season would generally mean the first 5 regular season games. Not let's add 2 exhibition games to the schedule instead of the normal closed scrimmages and count those for the suspension and then skip LCC from the suspension just because and end up with regular season games 1,2 and 4.

Certainly this administration has earned no benefit of the doubt here. We will see how the case proceeds and if anything changes perception.

This and what Bob said is nail on head...what a joke.

I don't need to hear or see anything else to know this whole thing has been an absolute embarrassment to the program and university. I don't care if he blew a dandelion in Luke's face...if it is against the code of conduct for anyone that is part of the program, he needs to be gone. Yesterday. All of you people quasi-defending him by 'waiting for his day in court' are crazy, if you ask me. And we know for a fact that it was bad enough to warrant a fine and suspension; literally ANY OTHER FACT presented after this is extra.

I have listened to and read newspapers articles concerning his post-game interviews.  Carm has likely unintentionally contributed to the problem because from what I have seen and heard, the blame is always on the players for one reason or another.  Carm has made his players the target.

He must have gone to the Greg Gattuso school of coaching lol.
