1. BTW, The bucknell game is now listed as a 7:30 start and the football game at 1PM that day. Should be plenty of time to tailgate.
2. Well, at this point the list is flawed. Either we are ranked below Siena at 129 which I find hard to believe or we are ranked ahead of an ACC team Miami,2 Big east teams(Seton Hall and Providence) and an SEC team(Auburn).I expect UA to be good but I don't know if we are that good to be ranked ahead of some teams in the major conferences. Well maybe those teams are expected to be relatively down.
3. I also am looking forward to the fall season and will be at many football and volleyball games. I am planning on making the trip to Lehigh on 9/2 and Cornell on 9/30 in additional to the home games.
4. Not official yet, but 12/28 and 12/30 is supposed to be our trip to UTAH. Also I have posted prvoiusly, we have a game this season at Cornell according to their local newspaper. Don't know the date.
5. Dane96 Thanks for setting them straight over at the Siena board. With the amount of nonsense over there it easily could be full time job. Siena certainly deserves those classless fans given the amount of class they have shown. The tread was classic Siena fans jumping to insults and incorrect conclusions. Get real, there is only I person in the Albany area who thinks Siena handled the KOJO situation poorly. I have stated that many times also. The fact that KOJO handled it poorly also and the fact that Siena followed NCAA rules does not make Siena's actions any less classless in my opinion. Also, I am sure I was not the only one that noticed that not one of their posters could give a factual rebuttal to the letter to the editor. The closest one came was Indian91 mentioning she emphasized the wrong points. Well no one is stopping him from writing to the TU.
6. Rumor has it UA is playing a game in Utah on December 28 and a game on December 30th. University of Utah and Utah Valley State. I don't have confirmation yet. But if true I will be there and also will be seeing games at BYU. Their schedule is confirmed. We are not playing them, but they are home in that time period. 28-30 (Th-Sat.) BYU Holiday Classic 28 (Thurs.) Oral Roberts vs. Seton Hall BYU vs. Liberty 29 (Fri.) Liberty vs. Seton Hall BYU vs. Oral Roberts 30 (Sat.) Liberty vs. Oral Roberts BYU vs. Seton Hall
7. My opinion is that if he is to get a conditional release excluding Duquesne that there ought to be more of a reason than Darg has suspicions that there was tampering and that he doesn't want Siena to be a stepping stone program. If they don't have proof Siena should shut shut up and end this mockery. If they don't have proof they shouldn't care where Kojo wants to go as long as it is not to the Maac where he could help his new team beat Siena. So the answer to your question is conditional release excluding MAAC schools and any school Siena has proof against. Yes, Kojo has helped make this a mockery and a public relations disaster. But it is not like Siena's whining and controlling ways hasn't played a big part of this. I think we are getting BS on both sides. Come on, going to Duquesne to get better shot at the NBA. That obviously is BS. I would respect Kojo more if he just said Siena sucks, I don't like the coach, it is not the school for me, I want to play with my friend or whatever. And as for Darg, if he is dragging this on only because of suspicions he is the biggest idiot in division 1 sports. If he has more, step up to the table. Lastly, I am not as upset on the timing as others. Again I feel we are not getting the whole story. We don't know what pushed Kojo over the edge to leave. The assistant leaving could have been the last straw. He could have talked to Fran before this came out in mid June. He may just want to screw Siena. I don't know. It seems to me that when Siena has nothing else they whine on the timing. Last year they were whining that McClinton left too soon without giving the new coach a chance. This year it is too late. I am not buying that as an excuse.
8. Bosiydid I said it before. If a kid wants to leave UA (and kids have left in the past as no school is immune to kids leaving) I hope we handle it much better than Siena has. To me, it is not about standing up in a similar situation. Even if the player is getting the "worst advice" in the world and has not acted well, if he wants to leave letting him go is "the lesser of the 2 evils". You can't force him to stay. The school should be "the bigger person". You can still go after the tampering school or the street agent under appropriate channels, but once the player leaves in this manner it is too late for him to stay with your school. Get over it and move on. Conditional release. End of story. Also I know that Siena is acting legally within the NCAA guidelines, but that doesn't make what they are doing with the Kojo case right in my opinion. Not all NCAA rules are logical. I don't necessarily want evil things to happen to Siena, but I do want them to suffer consequences for what I perceive to be a lack of class in this situation. That is just my opinion. And I understand those who opinion is Kojo should not get what he wants or suffer consequences for his role in this fiasco.
9. This quote absolutely kills me. "I have my suspicions," D'Argenio replied about the possibility of tampering. "I want to go over this on a school-by-school basis. The ones I have a problem with, I won't release him [to]. I won't release him to any conference school and a few others. Yeah Siena may be following the letter of the NCAA law. But morally this is extremely weak. It sounds like they got nothing on tampering other than Darg's suspicion. I really hope word gets out to potential recruits. Come to Siena and if you don't like it Darg will decide where you can or can not transfer based on his suspicions and all knowing what is best for the kid.
10. I go with Jon, Siena Sucks 5 out of 5 years. But 4 out 5 years what? Siena changed their coach or does it only seem that way. 4 out of 5 years the long established Saints underachieved. It took for them to drop to 6 wins before they could exceed expectations. 4 or 5 years under coach Brown out of 5 UA has improved to the point they made their first NCAA appearance after this past season. Good day
11. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/07/sports/n...gin&oref=slogin The saga has even made the NY times. Obvoiusly Siena is not in the best light although it is not as bad as it could be in my opinion. I respect Old Dogs opinion on timing however I don't see that as a major issue. Haven't kids transferred between semesters which is worse as far as basketball season goes but logical if you make the leap that the kids are students too. I don't see why he should have transferred in March(as some have said) when the school year ends in May. Maybe waiting until June is too much, maybe not and maybe it is not fair to assume Kojo is a real student. Just my 2 cents.
12. bosiydid I respect your opinion. But no one has answered my question as to why Kojo should submit a list to D'arg. Now someone on another board had said that is how conditional releases work. That Siena would send the release to the schools he named. But not being an insider, that would seem odd to me. As others have stated here how can one list schools when they can't even officially talk to other schools until after the release. Also if Siena was to send a release to the schools he named why wouldn't he just name all 300+ Division 1 schools and go from there. And Siena would say no maac and no Duquense or whatever. Well, there are a lot of things with the NCAA and this in particular that don't make sense to me. But enough on that. Can't wait until our basketball schedule comes out so I can start planning some basketball trips. Also 58 days until football season.
13. Why should he have to submit a list any more than those of us that are employees would have to submit a list of potential new employers to our current employer should we quit? Because D'arg said so? Give me a break! As far as UA, I would hope all our players still want to be here. If they didn't I would hope we would handle it with more class than Siena has and find someone else who wanted to be there. Look in the real world people switch jobs all the time whether it is "screws the employer" or not. You follow the procedure and move on. I think Siena should do the same and follow the procedure which would seem to be a conditional release and then move on.
14. http://timesunion.com/AspStories/story.asp...wsdate=7/6/2006 The latest on the Siena or is it Sienna soap opera including some funny quotes from D'arg. "D'Argenio said he's unconcerned that taking a hard line with Mensah will tarnish Siena's reputation among potential recruits." Yeah that probably has already happened. "He said he wants to make clear that Siena is not a stepping-stone school, where players can hone their skills for a year or two, then transfer to a major conference." He need not worry about that if he continues to damage Siena's reputation. Lastly, I am not sure what gives him the right to review a list of schools that KoJo would want to transfer to. Again block Duquesne, the maac and any other particular school as needed. Stay tuned.
15. The River Rats have priority over Siena. I haven't seen their schedule, but rumor is they are home at night after our game just like last year. We also know based on last season that the WWE also has priority to make Siena move the time of a game. And there are probably more that I don't know about. As far as the Kojo situation, I agree with Patch especially point number 4. Also it is not like they handled McClinton much better last year.
16. I think that College hoops nets has a sense of humor. Right now todays' team preview for Siena Saints is right next to today's interview with Duquesne's Ron Everhart. And with the holiday, it may stay that way an extra day. http://www.collegehoopsnet.com/
17. Not just my opinion. I was quoting the opinion of those who select the all maac teams presumably the maac coaches. Believe me, I am not worried about Haddix. I am sure the ferocious feast can get by with one fewer worker should a replacement for Haddix not be available. BTW, I don't recall seeing any of these Hasbrouck is better than Kojo opinions before KOJO left.
18. Siena's 2 best players on last seasons roster were Scoop and KOJO. Scoop was the only Siena player on the first team all maac and KoJo was the only other Siena player to make an all maac team(3rd team). Haddix is a question mark He was a good player before the injury, but my understanding is his injury is one that difficult to come back from and be the player one was before the injury.
19. Seems a little high given that they finished 128 the final Sarigan Ratings last year and lost their 2 best players. But they are also projecting the maac to be down. Last year St Peter's was projected 4th in the maac and 131 overall. This years Siena at 129 is projected 2nd in the maac. Hopefully AE can get back closer to the head to head record of 2 years ago vs the maac. Also I would think we would have to wait a couple of weeks before we see UA in the rankings.
20. I heard that too, but was getting anxoius so searched the computer for anything regarding shedules. I especially want dates for Utah confirmed so I can start looking for airfare.
21. Also if the rumored date of December 2 for the Albany- Siena is true , Siena will be coming into that game battled tested. They are at NJIT on Monday November 27th according to NJIT. http://njithighlanders.cstv.com/sports/m-b...skbl-sched.html
22. We do have a trip to cornell according to this article in the Ithaca journal. http://www.theithacajournal.com/apps/pbcs..../606210301/1006 Next season's schedule includes trips to Iowa, Binghamton and Northwestern and home games against 2006 NCAA tournament participants Bucknell and Albany, Donahue said. The Big Red will also renew its neighborhood rivalry with Ithaca College. The two schools didn't meet this past season because of scheduling conflicts. Originally published June 21, 2006
23. looks like we are hosting Sacred Heart on 12/17/06 http://sacredheartpioneers.cstv.com/sports...skbl-sched.html
24. 15195 I am not suggesting censorship. I am suggesting that the insecurity about Siena accepting us is unnecessary. Let's talk about UConn and the legit shot we have to beat that team in a rebuilding year. 15196 twballgame9 I agree with much of what you are saying. I think the day is near when Siena is irrelevant to us in Basketball like they are in all other sports especially football. However, I don't think that day is here yet. I also don't think most comments are about insecurity about Siena accepting us. Frankly, I don't really care what they think on their own(board) as long as they are not factually incorrect. But when they come over here with their nonsense I will and do shoot it down. (As do others) I also don't feel the need like some of our fans do to root for them and I have made that point known probably a little too much. Also, given their arrogance of their fans it is fun in my opinion to mock them when they mess up as they often do.
