  1. If I remember correctly the plans I've seen don't include a parking garage. The stadium would be where the RACC parking is now. There would be a new parking lot created just off to the side of the new stadium where the practice fields are now. Some of those fields would be moved in front of the PE building where the exsisting football field is. With the football games on the weekends or maybe at night during the week I don't see parking as that much of a problem. Most of the commuter students who would be taking those spots wouldn't be on campus then so there should be plenty of parking.
  2. Hard to believe this team was picked ninth in the preseason coaches poll. We'll see where they stack-up in conference but I have to think they'll do much better than ninth. Before yesterday's win over Syracuse, Coundoul was fifth in the country in goals against average. He'll probably go up since yesterday's win over Syracuse (sorry, I just like to say it) was a shutout.
  3. There's a mention in the gamenotes that Kurtz is hurt. I also see that Sam Pagano has made his way on the depth chart as a "true" freshman.
  4. You must have been reading my mind. You'll see it soon. I was at the game last night and I have to admit I almost felt sorry for $iena for a while, but I didn't.
  5. Yes. A pretty good group. Carrington went to Manhattan, Modest to Providence? and Burden to Utah and the NBA. Didn't Holle play pro baseball somewhere also? No one I showed it to knew who #55 is.
  6. I'm not sure when the photo was taken. Someone who reads the board gave it to me but I didn't think to ask him. I was sure you would get Carrington from Albany High. You're right about Holle, I've probably desicrated the board by putting a picture of him here.
  7. If it's any consolation all three local schools have gotten off to tough starts. There's a story in today's TU about it. Three's a slow-starting crowd-TU We all knew this was a possibilty when the season began. I'm surprised to see how the 0-3 start has brought out the Albany-haters on the Hansen board. I agree Reeder that things should get easier from here although Sacred Heart dismantled Iona last week and is probalby feeling pretty good about themselves. Hopefully Albany can lick their wounds and go out and get their first win. I don't remember where Wagner was picked but it wasn't very high and they are better than that. They have that transfer from UCLA at QB who is playing pretty well. There's four or five tough teams this year. I have a tough time imagining anyone will go through the conference schedule without a loss.
  8. It's more about local basketball than UA today. Can you name the guys in this photo? I only have I.D.s on 4 of them so maybe one of you will know the mystery man.
  9. I should be there tonight too. Should be a fun game. I know E-Rod has been hurt but doesn anyone know how close she is to setting the aces record? I know at the beginning of the year she wasn't far off. Setting it against $iena would be perfect.
  10. Welcome to the Board! I'm glad you found us and look forward to seeing you post. If you have any questions feel free to email me at danefan1@localnet.com Enjoy the board, DP
  11. I have to wonder if the "one tournament per town" rule doesn't apply for the women's tourney also. The MAAC holds it's men's and women's tournament at the same site so if it's in Albany that could put the nix on the women's tourney too. I could certainly live with the men's tournament in Binghamton. It should be alot better there this year than it has the past few years. As much as I enjoyed Boston if Bing does a good job I have a hard time seeing them moving it back.
  12. Arizona is #15 in the country. A win there would certainly be a monumential upset. DF2K3 is right that you have to take it one step at a time. Northeastern and New Hampshire have more less dominated the AE since the CAA-4 left a couple of years ago. Those two teams generally top out in the 50-75 range nationally which isn't too shabby. For Albany to get to where UNH and NU are would be quite an accomplishment.
  13. Story in today's paper that the MAAC is planing on having it's basketball tourney in Albany for 2006, 2008 and 2010. In the same story there was also talk about permanetly moving the MAAC tournament to Albany. Last spring when discussions were being held on where to hold the AE tourney it was mentioned that they didn't want to hold the AE tourney in Albany the same time the MAAC tourney was going on. If most members of the AE feel this way I have to wonder if our hopes of having the AE tourney in Albany have been dealt a serious blow.
  14. It's not an injury report but the depth chart on the Brown game notes says Fantell is the starter and Wilson the backup at running back. It looks like Vidal is out again this week going by that. Hopefully if he's questionable they'll hold him out another week for the conference schedule instead of risking reinjury in a non-conference game. I think it was Ruler who before the season began made the comparison of this years Albany team and last years Monmouth team. Great defense but struggles to score. It may not be as bad as it looks once the NEC teams roll into town. Last year Albany was shutout by Northeastern and nearly shutout by Brown. They really didn't have much trouble scoring against conference teams with the exception of the Monmouth game but we weren't alone there. Brown has their starting RB returning but will be debuting a new QB. Hopefully we can take advantage of that.
  15. TU has a story in today's paper on former Albany football captain and assistant coach Jack Burger. His red-letter days of the 'Xs' and 'Os'-TU
  16. Right you are Alum. I think it's a good bet on the Siena-Albany game. It's better to lose money anyway. My bet has been the loser has to wear paraphernalia of the other team the day after the game. My co-worker dug up some pretty gaudy $iena stuff for me last year.
  17. Previous to this year when was the last time Albany football opened a season with two consecutive shutout losses? Bonus: Who were the opponents in those two games?
  18. COLIN DISCH NAMED NORTHEAST CONFERENCE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK IN FOOTBALL Somerset, N.J. – University at Albany’s Colin Disch has been chosen as the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week in football, as announced on Monday, Sept. 13 by the conference office. Disch, an inside linebacker, totaled a game-high 13 tackles, including four unassisted and 1.5 for losses, and added a half sack. Disch, a redshirt freshman from North Plainfield, N.J., led a solid defensive effort in his team’s 14-0 loss to Patriot League foe Fordham. The Great Danes held the visitors to 207 total yards, including 30 through the air. Both of Fordham’s scoring drives started inside UAlbany territory. Disch, whose brother was a starting linebacker on last year’s Colgate squad that reached the Division I-AA national championship game, also had 10 tackles in the opener against Hofstra.
  19. I think grrreatdanes is referring to the catch that Walls (#40) made. Ball was really overthrown and he completely laid out to make the catch. Really big-time play and the crowd went bananas-of course Albany didn't capitalize. After watching these first two games I really like the Walls kid. He seems to play with alot of energy and from witnessing that Saturday he has very good hands. I think that was the only time he touched the ball, they need to find a way to get him more touches. Saturday was Delgado's first time out so it seems kind of early to pull the plug on him. If he struggles against teams in our league then I'd agree but to have your first start coming off an injury and against a Patriot league team it seems premature to be talkiing about taking him out. That said, if it weren't for mistakes by our offense I don't know that Fordham would have scored either. Nice crowd by the way. Box score listed it as 4400 and there were a fair amount of tailgaters in the RACC lot. I don't know if they were Fordham fans or not but hopefully it keeps up.

  21. Albany won with an overtime goal yesterday afternoon to beat $iena 1-0. Coundoul extends his shutout streak to 415 minutes. Don't know if anyone was there but it sounds like it was an exciting game with several cards and an ejection. I'm not sure how they figure out when to schedule things but this would have been a great game to have on Saturday afternoon instead of Friday. They could have done something similar to the Spring Stomp by featuring games in a couple of different sports (in this case soccer and football). I really don't know if alot of people would have gone today but I know I would have. In fact I think UA should consider scheduling more of the Albany-Siena games in various sports during times alumni can attend and promote those games. I like that Albany's volleyball game with Siena is on a Tuesday night so I can go.
  22. Great news about Delgado and I hope you're right about the win. The story in today's Times Union says Delgado will start. Danes quarterback Delgado returns-TU
  23. Nice avatars guys. I have to say when they're viewed together it looks like you're in some kind of Will Brown cult. There's a story in today Gazette about the schedule. Brown is quoted as saying the RACC has to be a tougher place to play this year. He mentioned trying to hold serve on the conference home games and then pull out some tough wins on the road. As the season gets closer it should be interesting to see where he thinks Albany will finish-the conference should easily be the toughest it's been since we joined. I assume Danefan2k3 is talking about Georgetown causing the late schedule. Syracuse is fine with me as it's a closer drive although I thought the Danes could have kept it close (relatively) with the Hoyas. Five straight road games are a tough way to start. Wagner will be a tempting road trip as it's on a Saturday and Staten Island is supposed to be beautiful in late November. Outside of the two Big East games Army, Lehigh and Dartmouth should be very winnable. Wagner was awful last year, I don't know how much better they'll be this year. I don't know how good LIU and Sacred Heart are supposed to be this year, I just remember Levi going bananas last year against LIU. I really wish Albany played UMass this year instead of last year.
  24. OOC schedule is: at Sacred Heart at Siena at Wagner at Lehigh at Army Long Island at Villanova at Syracuse Dartmouth
