  1. No sweat. I can imagine you watching the ticker now. My wife and I did it in a bar in Alaska last year while another game was on. We let out a cheer when the Albany score came across the ticker-people looked at us like we were nuts.
  2. I'll tape it for you and you can let me know tomorrow if you still want it. Hopefully you will because it will be a win. I'm not sure I have any blank tapes at home but if I don't you'll get the bonus of having it taped over the Montana game from two years ago.
  3. New look for Danes-TU. Regain their Pride-Newsday Hofstra schedule, players to watch-Newsday
  4. Yes it is VanDerveer. Very impressive Daneman I thought that question was a stumper. VanDerveer transferred after a season or two to Indiana. I don't know where she began her coaching career but I know she was at Ohio State and of course, Stanford.
  5. A story on the University website about the RACC improvements. Starting with the floor which will be changed to Robbins biochannel flooring, the same stuff we have in our front hallway. Equally important they are upgrading the sound system and wiring. Hopefully this will be the end of the random scoreboard outages and speaker hum. Maybe the upgrades will put us in a better postion for hosting the basketball tourney although I really think Bing is going to be a hard act to follow for anyone.
  6. Really a preview of Stony Brook scholarship opponents. Fiore essentially says everything but "we're moving up." Seeking upward mobility-Newsday
  7. Brian Connelly Ht: 6-8 Wt: 225 Position: PF Projected as: PF Class: 2005 Senior High School: Camden Catholic (Cherry Hill, NJ) Connelly's Hometown Paper-South Jersey Sports Forward Opts For Albany Brian Connelly Profile Brian Connelly, a 6-foot-8 power forward out of Camden (N.J.) Camden Catholic, is headed to Albany according to sources close to the player. Connelly made unofficial visits to Albany, Holy Cross, New Hampshire and Penn State. He was a first-team All-South Jersey Parochial prospect after averaging 15.5 points and 11 rebounds as a junior. His high school team finished 21-6 last season. Connelly talks about his decision 6 foot 8 Camden Catholic senior Brian Connelly made an early committment to the University of Albany last week. NJ Hoops spoke with the forward about his decision and recruiting. NJ Hoops: Why did you decide on Albany? BC: Mainly because I thought it was the right fit. When I went up there and came hiome I knew it was the right fit. NJ Hoops: When did you decide? BC: About a week ago NJ Hoops: How did you like the coaches there? BC: I liked them a lot their great guys. They were very interested in me and I wanted to go where I was wanted. NJ Hoops: Was there one coach recruiting you more than the others? Or was it a group effort? BC: Mainly Coach Chad O'Donell and the Head Coach Will Brown. NJ Hoops: Did the coaches come in for a home visit, and or school visit also? BC: No, actually I went up on an unofficial two or three weeks ago and I'm going my official this Wednesday. NJ Hoops: When did they start recruiting you? BC: I think late June or early July. NJ Hoops: When did they first see you play? BC: At the ACC Camp, one of the assistant coaches, Coach Edwards came by and saw me there. NJ Hoops: What did they say your role would be? BC: A four. A perimeter four, I can step out if I need to. My freshman year they have a returnbing starter but he'll be gone by my sophomore year. NJ Hoops: What did you do on the visit? BC: We took a tour of campus, the dorms, the classrooms. NJ Hoops: How was the campus? BC: I loved it. NJ Hoops: Was the location a factor? BC: It's about three hours away. I liked it was kind of outside a city, but still close so there will be something to do. NJ Hoops: Was the school's academic reputation a factor? BC: Yes, I'm kind of interested in business and their ranked like 65th in the country. And their a State School of New York. NJ Hoops: How does it feel to have the decision behind you? BC: Good, It took a lot of pressure off. I can play this season and know I have this to fall back on. NJ Hoops: How tall are you and how much do you weigh? BC: 6'8 220 lbs NJ Hoops: What did Coach Crawford have to say about your decision? BC: He was behind me 100% and said it was a great opportunity. NJ Hoops: What would you say are your strengths and what would you say you had to continue to improve on? BC: Strengths, probably post game and ability to step out, have to improve everything to move up to that level.
  8. I probably should have been more clear. This person is a former player at UA. As far as I know they didn't coach at UA but they've coached at other colleges. The national championships they've won do refer to NCAA titles.
  9. I honestly don't know if that's right or not UA66. I'm not sure about the national championship part for Demeo. I had someone else in mind although it would be great if there were two people who fit that decription at UA.
  10. Hofstra by 10. I'd like Albany's chances if they were returning an established QB. Being Bazan's first start and on the road and televised. Hopefully the defense will go wild and prove me wrong.
  11. What former Albany player turned Coach, led their team to two national championships and an olympic gold medal?
  12. Click on the link in Danefan2K3's post above. Then scroll down the PDF page.
  13. I'm glad to hear it. Considering the advantage the Riverboat Gambler and Bazan had by practicing in the spring it's impressive that Bocanegra can make such a good impression in such a short time. I imagine they are red-shirting the other two freshman QB's they brought it this year.
  14. The gamenotes and the depth chart are now up. Unverzagt is listed as the starting TE with the two red-shirt freshman now at FB. Bocanegra is the backup QB. I was surprised not to see Kelsey Jenks name anywhere on the depth chart.
  15. A great way to start the season. A tougher test today against the Q who was picked 5th in the NEC and got one first place vote. Given Banda's credentials it's really not a question of if this program will turn around it's only a question of when. This is a guy who was a two-time national coach of the year and got his UMass team to 5 consecutive national semi-final games.
  16. Ford may be on to something. Stony Brook looks pretty good on paper..errr..website. The best QB in the conference, returing a 1,000 yard rusher, a 1st team D-lineman and their top two tacklers. Meanwhile Albany has an all new backfield, starting a QB who's never taken a collegiate snap. Let's hope the glue-sniffers are right.
  17. Both good stories. Sounds like Bocanegra has emerged as the early leader from this years QB crop. No mention if both will play in a dual QB system until Delgado gets back or if it's just Bazan until then. I like Ford's quote "I don't think anybody who isn't sniffing glue could vote for us in first place." With our uncertin QB situation I agree. We're gonna have to win like Monmouth did last year-defense and some ugly offense at least in the beginning of the season.
  18. I was reading on the Hansen site that Dayton Football Fan doesn't like our new helmets. That's good enough for me-Thumbs up!
  19. Goods story in today's TU about the football transfers from Siena. Game departs; so do athletes-TU. Also one on Delgado's injury. Surgery to sideline Danes QB Delgado-TU.
  20. Here's a photo of him (21). I have to admit when I saw the other schools involved with him (Brown, UNH) I wasn't that excited about this commitment. The more I saw the more my initial impression was wrong. It sounds like Albany got involved with him early and he had a very good summer which is probably more telling than his high school season. This seems like the kind of PF Brown likes to bring in, guys who can shoot from outside. Pretty good size (225lb) too for just being a junior. I agree wholeheartedly about the Brown contract extention Dane96. I have to say that as good a job as Walker as done bringing Bing up from DII to DI that Brown faced a much tougher task bringing this program to respectibility.
  21. I'm pretty sure there are two scholarships open for next year. Connelly takes one and the other should go to another big guy-hopefully a center. With everyone that should be back next year they could probably red-shirt one of next years recruits.
  22. There's also a story in the TU about Warner and Coughlin addressing the team. Coughlin mentions coaching against Ford but doesn't say what his record against him is. I wonder why not? Danes get an earful-TU.
  23. I'll second or third that praise for the site. I've put a link up on the main page to Mike's Sports Caravan as well as to WCDB. There's a new show scheduled for tomorrow.
  24. I just read somewhere that Ryan Roeder will be the offensive line coach for Holy Cross this year. Congrats to him. On the Hofstra Board (CAA Zone) they are talking about their leading reciever being injured and is out for the season. They were not a very optimistic group before and they sound like they are doomed now. Hate to see somebody go down before the season even starts. Hopefully the Pride picks up the pieces and puts together a good run starting September 3rd.
  25. Dane96 if you get hired because of a tip on this board I get 10% of your first year's salary.
