  1. I'm not sure I understand that complaint. In general, part of the university experience is having people from different countries, cultures, etc. Plus, Aussie are awesome.
  2. Rough blow for Yale. Makai Mason looks like he's out for the year.
  3. Press release on the signing of the three Aussies for 2017 - http://www.ualbanysports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=70287&SPID=7999&DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=211285598&DB_OEM_ID=15800 UALBANY MEN’S BASKETBALL ANNOUNCES SIGNING OF THREE AUSTRALIAN PLAYERS FOR 2017-18 CLASS UAlbany Sports Information 11-09-2016 ALBANY, N.Y. – The UAlbany men’s basketball team has announced the addition of three players from Australia to the 2017-18 freshman class. Brent Hank, Cameron Healy and Adam Lulka will come to the Northern Hemisphere to suit up for the Great Danes starting in the 2017-18 season. “We are very excited about our 2017 recruiting class, we were able to continue the Australian pipeline that has been so good to us over the years,” said UAlbany head coach Will Brown. “Brent, Adam and Cameron are quality student-athletes from wonderful families. Brent and Adam add great size and ability to our frontcourt and Cameron will add versatility and talent to our backcourt. I am confident that all three will have a positive impact on our university, basketball program and community!” UAlbany will continue to have representatives from Australia after the graduation of Mike Rowley following this season. Former UAlbany players Peter Hooley, Sam Rowley and Luke Devlin all were former players from Australia. All three players signed National Letters of Intent to play for UAlbany during Signing Day. Brent Hank – Forward - 6-10, 245 – Port Lincoln, Australia – Trinity College Hank, coming to UAlbany from Trinity College near Adelaide, was a member of the U19 Australian Emus Team. He also competed with the combined SA Metro/Country team in the U20 Australian Championships, taking the squad to a bronze medal in February. Brown on Hank: “Brent has a great combination of size, length, and mobility. He will be able to help us immediately defensively and on the glass. He will provide us with a paint presence. His offense continues to improve and he has the work ethic that will allow him to be successful.” Cameron Healy – Guard – 6-2, 190 – Sydney, Australia – Montverde Academy (Fla.) Healy played at point guard in the U16 Australian Junior Championships in 2013, taking the New South Wales team to a second place finish. He came to the USA from Australia’s Scots College and is playing for Montverde Academy, a national championship team in Florida. Brown on Healy: “Cameron is a talented combo guard who has the ability to distribute the ball as well as score it effectively and efficiently. He is physically ready to compete at the D1 level. He can score at all 3 levels and has a very high basketball IQ.” Adam Lulka – Forward – 6-8, 240 – Sydney, Australia – The King’s School Lulka joins the Great Danes after competing at the U19 national level. He took the New South Wales All-Schools team to a national title in the School Sports Australia championships in August and is a member of the U22 Youth League Men All-Star Five Selection. Brown on Lulka: “Adam is a tough, physical power forward who can finish above the rim. He plays with great physicality and poise. He is comfortable and effective playing with his back to the basket. Adam is physically ready to compete at the college level.”
  4. I like that starting lineup. In the scrimmage Grayson seemed to be heady and under control. He reminded me of Evan Singletary and combined with Nichols is a really quick backcourt. It would seem like the trouble with Campebell might be find playing time, at least early in the season. I'd think Dallas would have the edge on the SF minutes and if Cremo starts where are the minutes going to come from?
  5. Cam Healy's Monteverde team is ranked #6 in the country. He's had 18 and 17 points in their first two games.
  6. There was a database problem this morning and we lost today's posts. Sorry about that.
  7. One week to go! This game will be on ESPN3. The good news for us: Penn State will probably be starting a freshman point guard. The bad news for us: That freshman point guard is Tony Carr, probably one of the heralded recruits they've ever had. He's starting for them tonight in their exhibition game against Lock Haven.
  8. Had a training session which made me miss the meet and greet. Just curious if anyone went and witnessed anything awesome.
  9. Ended up making a decision a couple days past his time frame..but Mack committed to Wyoming this week. His prep year apparently generated the higher offers he was hoping for. Gets to play in the Mountain West against UNLV, San Diego State and New Mexico..but that sure is a long ways from home. Will be interesting to see how his career plays out. A couple other potential recruits made commitments this week: Lat Mayen is headed to TCU and JUCO Ezekiel Charles will play for former UAlbany Associate HC Eric Eaton at Quinnipiac. Maybe not so strange of a move, he has family out west somewhere. I guess too if you've lived on the east coast and want to experience something different for college, Wyoming would certainly be different. Didn't realize Jamie Dixon was now coaching at TCU.
  10. No real change in number of posts or registrations yet.
  11. Curious about Lands since we didn't see him and CB mentions him in the playing group without much practice time. I liked Grayson and Anderson of the guards. From what I saw, I'd like to see Grayson start at PG and have Nichols play more of a scoring role as the off guard.
  12. Thanks for setting that up Godanes99. I'm not familiar with Facebook. I'm guessing it's a social networking site, something like Yik Yak, maybe?
  13. Mike Rowley, Dallas and Cremo. I believe Peter Hooley was the last soph captain before Cremo. http://www.ualbanysports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=70287&SPID=7999&DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=211252698&DB_OEM_ID=15800
  14. JG III was in for an unofficial visit this weekend.
  15. Kind of old news but CBS Sports ranked every D1 team. They have us at #139 which I'll take after losing Peter the Great and company. http://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/duke-kentucky-kansas-top-cbs-sports-1-351-college-basketball-rankings/ A few OOC Opponents rankings: Penn State #64 SMU #56 Siena #97 Cincy #30 Yale #105 Grand Canyon #109 Holy Cross #215 Brown #274 Cornell #217 Marist #255
  16. Speaking of the Texas Legends. They're also going to sign Jaleel Cousins who we played against in South Florida. Mostly unrelated, but former Jamar nemisis, JJ Barea, is going into his 11th year with the Dallas Mavericks.
  17. I was wondering if they will give them out at the Meet and Greet. I can't remember if they've done that in the past or not.
  18. Me and Boob87 go way back -- you cant talk about delusional fans bases and leave good ole Bob out. I dont even know who that name calling whack job Eli is- I'm not responsible for every post on Siena anymore than you are responsible for every off the wall posts on this board .. But I do get what you are saying DP- you run a good board and I respect that.. Tony Out... Sorry for interruption boys..see you a few days before the game for some good ole fashioned smack talk Thanks Tony. As for you and Bob, I'm familiar with the history. You guys are probably going to start getting along better in the future as you slowly make the transition from Siena fan to UAlbany season ticket holder to full-fledged UAlbany fan.
  19. Sounds like they're expecting the backup QB - http://www.timesunion.com/tuplus-sports/article/UAlbany-cornerbacks-expect-to-be-tested-by-10062028.php#photo-11569563 Coach G actually recruited their backup QB.
  20. Sounds like they are flirting with the idea of playing Nichols off the ball. After seeing him (and Grayson) in the P+G game I like the idea. Let Grayson handle the ball and run the offense and let Nichols score and Cremo do, like everything in the world.
  21. Well this stayed civil for all of three seconds or so. I'm looking forward to this game more for who IS going to be there more than who ISN'T. Yes, when the game is that the TUC there are 10,000 people there but half of them (or more) I think are pretty casual fans. The truly nutty fans for both sides are spread out over a big arena. This year's game is going to be distilled down to the most hard-core fans from both sides. The craziest fans in a smaller area, right on top of each other and the court. I think this is going to be the best atmosphere since the series started again. Maybe I'm wrong and it won't be that great but it's at least worth trying for one year. I think next year is probably going to be the blueprint for how this series will go in the future. There's a lot of money and a lot of guys in suits to figure it out. I'm sure they'll come up with something. Also, just a note Tony, you can't start out by calling someone "Booby" and then get outraged when someone else calls you "stooge." I can't believe I had to type those words to adults.
  22. A nice sign of respect for both programs. Especially the men who lose the whole starting back court from last year. It seems like every year is the year Bing is predicted to make the jump into the middle of the pack. Maybe this is the year. I'm not crazy about their guards.
  23. Imani Tate on the women's side and Joe Cremo on the men's. Tate is no surprise but I didn't expect the coaches to pick Cremo. Good news for the future of the conference, none of the selections are seniors: Joe Cremo, So., Albany Willie Rodriguez, Jr., Binghamton Jairus Lyles, Jr., UMBC Jahad Thomas, Jr., UMass Lowell Tanner Leissner, Jr., New Hampshire Trae Bell-Haynes, Jr., Vermont
  24. Villanova lost their QB in that Richmond game. I haven't seen if he'll be back against us or not.
