  1. There were a few minutes of Shengalia and Puk on the floor at the same time. Our version of the "twin towers."
  2. Back from Newark. Hats off to NJIT's coach. He's built a pretty good team without a conference in with pretty bad facilities. Workman-like win today. I thought our defense in the second half was fun to watch. Everyone seemed to be on the same page, switched when they needed to, communicated and looked pretty sharp. You can see where some of the newer players would stick out like a sore thumb when a group functions like that. NJIT had to take some tougher shots late in the shot clock and took some long, frustration threes. Great to see DJ be a little more aggressive on offense. Also, welcome back Gary Johnson! 12 points, 7 boards, 2 blocks, 2 steals and an assist.
  3. It's not BCS but I saw that New Hampshire is matched up with Maine in the FCS playoffs. That should be an awesome game.
  4. Good story on Dave Wiegmann today. Sounds like he will get the start again today although GJ should be back from his ankle injury. Odunsi has concussion-like symptoms and won't make the trip.
  5. Realtime RPI has us 1 point underdogs in this game. We'll have to play better than the game @ Sefcu to win down there. NJIT site is showing a link for video.
  6. Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving and safe travels. The new "block/charge" rule change is going to help a lot when I make my drive to the dessert table. If people get knocked down it's because they didn't establish position in time.
  7. It'll be interesting to see where the SOS ends up but you're right, I didn't think it was that tough of a schedule when it came out. Our OOC opponents have a combined record of 43-29 right now and Colgate (Colgate?) knocked off Tulane last night.
  8. WOW, just wow. Can't believe the atmosphere he created there. I wouldn't want that at Albany for championships in every sport. Bad for SBU and not so great for fellow SUNY members either. Sounds like that crap went on for quite a while too until the new president got rid of him. He may not be perfect but between Joel Thirer at Bing and Fiore at SBU I'm really, really liking Dr. McElroy right now.
  9. Nice road win. Great to see Haas get something going also and get a little scoring from the bench. We are going to get some nice production from the SF spot with GJ comes back and the way Weigmann is playing. Great to see Weigmann make the most of these last two starts. Some guys might have sulked when they didn't get much playing time last year. He seemed to go out and work harder and it's paying off for him now.
  10. Rider is only one of three teams on our OOC that a record below .500 and I think they're better than their record. They looked pretty good when I watched them play Purdue a week or so ago. Picked to finish fourth in Bob's favorite conference.
  11. Too bad that didn't work out. We very much need a big guy next year.
  12. Just have to beat Duke then! That should do it. I'll be interested to see what Shereesha Richards does against Providence. So far she's just done whatever she wants against whoever we've played.
  13. That was an amazing basketball game. If only Rusin would have pulled up for the shot at the end...
  14. On the field, no doubt about it. There were some incredible positives this year though. The new attendance record for UA football and the fact that we'll probably be the highest attended college sport in the area this year. Even when watching losing football, BFF is a good place to do it. I'm hoping in the future we can have games with the buzz of that opening night. I had to sit on the berm for several games this year because people wanted to come to UA football games and I didn't have enough tickets and couldn't buy more become the ones around me were sold out. That in itself is an achievement.
  15. I think the redshirt option went away when Devlin got injured. MR is going to need to give us minutes this year. Admittedly he hasn't had a big scoring breakout game but hopefully that'll come. He was one of our leading rebounders last night while playing just 17 minutes. One of the things I saw him do last night which I liked was back his guy down toward the basket while keeping his head up to watch for a double team.
  16. I felt the same way after this game and several others. Actually, I'd like to see him be a little selfish. He committed his second turnover of the year today - 15 assists, 2 turnovers. Crazy stat. I'd like to see him shoot more. We're a decent team right now and Bucknell is a good team. We need to develop another scoring threat if we're going to move beyond decent. Some positive signs from the Mike Rowley. A little more confidence and better judgement today. I can't remembering seeing a shooting display like the one Bucknell put on. I was shocked they actually missed 7 threes - 14 of 21. 67% and that seems lower than what I felt like I watched.
  17. I would have passed on using the press to call out players individually, and by name. I'm pretty sure this he's done something similar before. It's not my favorite tactic either. I'm sure since we all saw the scrimmage and know how good some of the guys who aren't getting off the bench are, he's going to get asked about it.
  18. Seems like a nice Albany presence at this game. That's about the only positive from the first half. Ngachie thrown out of the game when he was playing well.
  19. Wheeler Baker's first game of the season last night. There's actually video of the game. Baker is #25. His teammate, Ian Theissen, is going to San Diego or San Diego State. I think their high school team might win some games in our conference.
  20. Looking forward to this game, probably the best home game of our OOC. No game notes yet or news on Gary Johnson. I'm hoping no news is good news?
  21. Santillo posted this morning that Coach Ford could continue at UA in a fund-raising capacity.
  22. Funny thing is Rossomando has almost the exact same resume K.C. Keeler did before he was hired at Delaware. Keeler's head coaching experience before Delaware was at Rowan. If Delaware can hire a good DIII coach, we can hire a good DII coach. Also, Dane96 has season tickets in my section so if the hire doesn't work out I can blame him.
  23. Just saw the box score come up. Quite a nice night for Hooley - 21 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Great to see him be more aggressive, we're going to need more of that. Also a little better rebounding, at least on paper. DJ Evans has 12 assists this year to 1 turnover. 58% shooting from the line and 28% from three are not going to win many basketball games.
  24. Didn't see the game, I was at the women's game. Sounds like a very poor first half. That's three of four game so far this year that we've had lousy starts - Siena, NJIT and now tonight. They were talking on the post-game about Gary Johnson's ankle injury. Hopefully it doesn't keep him out long.
