  1. We haven't lost two consecutive home games since 2005 as far as I can figure. Awful time for that to change. Like Click said, we all thought this would be a tough year but I thought we'd be 3-1 or 4-0 right now and THEN get it handed to us in the CAA portion of the schedule. Really not many positives other than: the Marching Band has purple flags this time AND played a different song. Plus the Great Danes cookies at the concessions were pretty good.
  2. Not many tickets left on the home stands side. Watching the ticket website has replaced watching the web cam now that it's gone. Story in today's paper about Jake Meeks. Sounds like we may see more of him this week. While I like him and the energy he brings I don't like that we have a good group of receivers who aren't going to be involved when he's on the field.
  3. I agree that's a concern although Stire is a PF also. Rivals has us talking to JJ Nganga, a 6'10 center from Northern Oklahoma CC. We've also talked to Sem Kroon although I think he visited UNH recently.
  4. CCSU fans might make the drive just to see the awesome stadium. I'm with Danefan is wanting all the people on the berm counted towards official attendance. Most colleges INFLATE their attendance numbers and we are not counting people who were actually at the game!
  5. We offered him this week..6'2" PG. And then Siena offered him.
  6. It was actually on fourth and two. I haven't seen the replay yet, so what was that clusterf*ck just before that? Did Omar make the first down (I thought I saw the ref signal it) but they didn't change the down marker, so we hurried another dive play to make it, but it was really first down already so we ended up with second and nine? Did we think we had to catch URI flatfooted so we didn't take the time to ask what down it was or if the chains weren't right? Lol... No idea what happened there... It's almost like the red signaled first down... Linesman were asleep and didn't move the chains... It was clearly a first down, but the chains didn't move. For some reason instead of waiting for the chains to move, we hurried up and basically wasted a play. Instead of stopping the play once they realized the chains hadn't moved, they kept the play alive and essentially counted it as 1st down. Play should have been erased. Then again, we had zero reason to rush that play anyway. But if the chains weren't ready the officials shouldn't have put the ball in play. I blame it all on the curse of fireworks night.
  7. They were selling them last night at the UA store near the entrance. I don't remember if they had our logo on them or not.
  8. Yeah, but Kevin had on a nice suit, right? He did but maybe you can convince him to get a gold colored drum major uniform and one of those big, furry drum major hats.
  9. I had suspected that observations 1 and 2 were connected. It's pretty easy to watch the game from the beer garden and they have beer there. Overall, the night felt surreal to me. I walked around and saw a lot of the people I usually see at games but it was like we were at someone else's stadium. It's going to take a few games for it to sink it that this is home. Also, I don't know what the lower deck is like but the upper deck is awesome for stomping and chanting defense. I had no idea how much noise we were making until I read this morning that people on the field had trouble communicating.
  10. I would say the performance was tentative but most first steps usually are. I'm glad we had them and I'm sure they'll improve. I agree they could have gone with a more rousing musical choice but hopefully that will come. My critiques: -They didn't need to be right at midfield. Come closer to the main section of the stands so we could hear them better. -As petty as it sounds, I didn't like that the color guards flags were green.
  11. Box score says 8500. If they don't count the people on the berm, ahem the First Niagara Family Berm, it could be 10,000 or so. The FNFB was packed.
  12. Frustrating loss. Namely because I know Fiacchi is a better player than he showed tonight. In general, I thought we looked timid on a big stage. I wouldn't have minded the loss if the game had been a high quality but it wasn't. I'd hoped we give everyone who came a better show. That said, it's a pretty amazing place to watch a game. Atmosphere was fun and hey, a beer garden! Some kinks to work out but overall a win for the capital district and UAlbany tonight in a big way. There are going to be a lot of fun times on Western Ave. in the future.
  13. Do you have any other sides? Tonight I'm looking forward to: NOT walking through the old gym to get to University Field. NOT having a lamp post in front of the scoreboard. Being able to see the whole field Watching a marching band at halftime Replays!
  14. Maybe the other side with a packed house? The pictures are great! Thanks Ilko. I was thinking the same thing as Haggy (a scary thought.) After tonight we should have some pictures with a packed BoFo. A couple years ago LadyDP gave me a framed panorama of Sefcu arena during the AE Championship game. I'm hoping someone creates something similar with BoFo.
  15. Wheeler Baker will visit Wofford next weekend and then UA on 9/26.
  16. Sam Perkins from One Bid Wonders has a good column on Jucos. He lists the conference top Juco players over the past dozen years or so. Two Great Danes on his list, Suero and Jason Siggers.
  17. This may be a good idea but honestly the thought of it makes me a little sick to my stomach.
  18. Now that you mention it, the site is dated. Just realized BPF is now 10 years old!
  19. I think we might report a sell out this weekend regardless. Creative ticket counting like everyone else does. +1. It's never been used before so who knows when it's sold out, right? What I'm hoping is that UA football has the highest attendance of any college athletic event in the Capital District.
  20. He may have been. Until Click talked his mother's ear off last year and he decided to transfer
  21. The only thing that worries me about this weekend...it's fireworks night.
