  1. Here's something to chew on, or in my case, get stuck in your craw, for all you folks obsessed with your cross-town "rival."

UAlbany & Siena men's basketball are back-to-back in the latest RPI, per http://rpiratings.com . UAlbany No. 206, Siena No. 207.

BOOO!!!! One team is rebuilding off of a complete WRECK.

Save a screenshot, because it might be the last time in a while we are ahead. As much as it pains me to say so, I think Patsos will turn them around fairly quickly.

  2. This program is mediocre... It's really the worst spot to be in. Not enough contributions from to many kids, many of whom don't know the system or injured and are jucos.

This isn't a complete rebuild but need to start trying to get quick hits and build the program the right way. Really disappointing season with not much to cheer for.

They should have switched the games today so that "The Ferocious Feast" was during the men's game, with the women as the nightcap.

At least then a big crowd could have left the arena a little excited.

  3. This is a mediocre basketball program. They'll win here and there but no continual growth. The empty seats at the end of the game say it all. The city has no reason to get behind this program in a game in game out basis.

I like the recruiting of two big local talents to turn that tide, but with those coaching them, I don't expect a tidal wave of local enthusiasm

    Winners fill seats.

The first response I expect to get is "Where were you after the Stony Brook game?," but 300K a year should buy a hell of a lot more than a .500 record.

If the team can deliver when people are shaking their fists, why can't it deliver continually, to provide acclaim and pride for the program?

  4. Check that. Six points in the last 18:29! No offensive adaptation. This is your offensive game plan when you have your arch rival and your biggest crowd of the year?

    Terrible.

How the heck are you supposed to generate excitement for the program and keep cheeks in the seats when you score in the 30s?

  5. Where is the cliff party? Count me in. The phrase "lack of passion" has been mentioned several times. I have been thinking that for some time, but I was hoping I was wrong. Also, poise seems to be missing. I love the kid, but why is Hooley passing the ball out to Puk when he is in the lane and most likely would get fouled if he made a move to the rim. With the wrist injury, Sam cannot shoot or dribble, and his rebounding is suffering. Is playing hurt a sign of passion or would admitting he cannot contribute be more an inspiration? I do not know if it is the shoulder, but if I was GM I would DL or just outright release Levon.

This team needs to finish 7or8 of 9 for any chance of post season play. A five hundred record and luck in the AE tourney, to me does not a great season make. I KNOW the ultimate goal is the ncaa's, but to me (and I have said this before and have been slammed for saying so) 20-22 wins, even with a loss in the AE championship is a better season than .500 and 3 AE tourney wins. The mentality that the tourney is everything, not only leads to relying on luck but fails to promote the importance of each and EVERY game and fails to develop learning to win and a winning attitude.

I feel that for years when some of us criticized the team we were barked down and treated as misguided. (My personal delivery could have contributed to many of the responses I got!)

If anything it seems as though this latest slide has opened up the conversation to the possibility that the present is less than ideal.

  6.

Not to pour on the suffering after a(nother) tough loss, but if I was to suggest that UA is not getting a very good return on investment for the $250-300K it pays Coach Brown every year, would I still get labeled a "fair weather fan" and a "malcontent" that has to be on his best behavior if he wants to sit in the "optimist zone"?

I think everyone is malcontent after this game.

So who is the first poster to calm down? Because all kidding aside, they could still win the AE tourney! There is definitely talent there.

  7. If I looked at things correctly, by losing this game UA missed out on a chance to get back to playing .500 basketball since Jamar graduated.
