  1. I'm thinking we crush 'em. SB is no Vt. in so many ways and I think we match up better. Foul trouble would be my only variable with our short bench experience.
  2. The students get way underwhelmed at the slack play during the season. Saw us score so little, so unexciting against Vt. regular season why come out and watch that pain again? they may not be a loyal bunch but they are good consumers and give brutal feedback with lack of attendance.
  3. Our inability to split a trap and get the ball up court to our advantage (most of the time) will be noticed by SBU -hope they solve that in practice this week!
  4. That was sooooo much fun to watch. I thought the ESPN3 commentators were UVM plants. StoneyBrook HS gym isn't big enough to hold our fans much less both! They should give us a whole side of the stands 1/2 & 1/2 damnit!
  5. I was kind of at the game - Went first half but was so tired from work I snuck out at half time - it's a long drive to Toga! I think there are new matts here or coming. They got most of what they wanted with the track - believe me - no one is complaining! We'll depend on the pro's in the fund raising areas to work out details of how much and what strategy -one at a time, the whole thing ... The results board is he most "sexy" thing to dangle out there so that will lead and then we'll see.
  6. This is all unofficial at the brain storming level so ... - Minimum $300,000K but the wish list also includes an equipment storage facility and refurbished stands so $500,000. Our target date is by Spring of 2015 so it's up by the NYS High School Champs and we can then bid on larger regional and national events. Strategy may be to find 1 or 2 large donors to seed the pot and then conduct alum and community outreach. See all at the BBall game tonight!
  7. Trying to raise $ for an electronic results board. I know a lot of you feel that should take low priority but we're hoping to find a private sponsor or two. With NYS high school champs and AEast / Regional collegiate vents already scheduled the lack of that piece is embarrassing.
  8. I was waiting for your update, jali....trophy presentations just concluded. UA with two more championships. I was waiting for official results from the Armory but they seem to have moved on to the next competition without finishing up AEast results! That and can't figure out how to post a link?
  9. Watching the UMBC game - not sure why they have Megan out past the foul line on offense. Have the always run that set? Will be interested to see how few O rebounds she gets.
  10. Looks like UMass Lowell is stepping right up to the plate. The Women will have a terrific challenge and it looks like the men's depth will have to pull them through. Gotta love the HJ dominance though! Uhhhm - can't copy / paste link?!?
  11. hopefully this is a wake up call to these guys. can't point to any one thing but lack of energy an good play b UVM?
  12. Wimping out and staying in Toga tonight. Hope to catch the women tomorrow.
  13. I know you weren't knocking anybody. Still, the running styles of the two backs is different. The ground-and pound, ball control offense that UA excelled at was missing all year, young/soft O-line or not...and where the hell were the screen passes that this program has historically run so well? Comparing accomplishments of a team in the CAA to a team in the NEC is apples and oranges. Smith, a terrific back, would not have come close to those totals in the CAA even with the best O Lines we ever had. Get over the NEC glory days, no way any of those great championship teams do much better in league play as this years team did. Lest we forget that we lost to Duquesne and Central Ct state this year. And our running game did us no good against those "lowly" NEC teams either. Thus my specific reference to league play. I don't mean to say this was a better team than the NEC Champion teams, those non league losses would indicate not. But, the premise still stands in the face of those who knock this years team and coaches by comparing league competition and stats from the NEC.

  15. Would have been a great game to get a "T" - just add to the legend!
  16. Don't you think everyone at Maryland, Rutgers, every school in the MAC thought the same thing? None of them are even close to positive revenue!
  17. Are Bball and Fball making money? I didn't think so and frankly wasn't expecting it, just don't want to see deficits like those in the story. Believe me, if an Olympic caliber wresting squad can get canned, so can Mens T&F. Isn't the real problem (for balancing men & women scholies) the number allowed in Fball by the NCAA? 60, 70, 80+! That's just out of control. Reduce the number for Fball to something even remotely reasonable, say 44 (Fulls for first and second string, which is still ridiculous) and the whole problem goes away and NCAA FBall will begin to get better parity as the bigs can't warehouse the just OK guys who would be stars for us.
  18. Anyone else read this with interest? http://www.nytimes.com/2013/12/01/business/the-big-tens-bigger-footprint.html?ref=sports? "A year ago, the Rutgers athletic department’s deficit was nearly $28 million, bringing the hole it has dug since 2005 to $190 million. To offset the losses, student fees have been raised and state funds reallocated. Last summer, Maryland’s athletic department cut seven varsity sports in trying to patch a $21 million shortfall." Does the CAA have revenue to share? Anyone believe NYgov. will reallocate funds to cover an athletics deficit? Goodbye Men's T&F and Baseball - 5 years tops.
  19. And that (Dave Wiegman) is as much a part of Brown's tenure here as a few NCAA berths. Sorry off thread. How about UA beats NJIT (home), NJIT beats NH (in Durham), NH beats Duquesne (In Pitt), Duquesne beats UA and NJIT has won 4 0f last 5. Seems like a good pre league test.
