  1. It's all a matter of opinion, but mine is that you are wrong on the walking piece. A garage where the current SEFCU lot is would be an eye sore so that is not where I would put it if one were to be built. The long walk in the dark on a windy campus to get from Dutch to SEFCU most definitely hurts attendance in the winter. Something tells me all those games you mention that Bob87 has been to have just as poor attendance as we do. I can tell you for 100% certain my wife would rather go to see Siena play because the parking is closer and even when there is a walk you have things to see, it's well lit, buildings to block the wind and overall more pleasant. She will not go to SEFCU during a night game or on a real cold day. The real fans will go whenever and wherever they can, but if you want to increase attendance you need the casual fans and families buying 4-5 tickets instead of just 1 or 2. The tickets are already cheap enough. Just make it more accessible and comfortable and more casual fans will attend. More attendance turns more casual fans into super fans. First and foremost, if you want to increase the attendance, get the students involved. That's a way bigger issue to me than the community at large. Get the students involved and excited and you'll have an amazing home court advantage.
  2. and we should all be voting for this... https://www.facebook.com/AmericaEast?sk=app_403834839671843&brandloc=DISABLE&app_data=chk-54ef7b77a19c9
  3. I think I found my calling in life https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153630992867501
  4. Very sloppy. No flow on offense. UMBC is a bad, bad team. This team does not look tournament ready, except for maybe Singletary.
  5. So that's some good news. If he wanted to play it means he was probably able to play. Next game is on Tuesday.
  6. I will say this. The announcers do have great taste about saying that we should have the Great Dane at center court. Couldn't agree more. #mypetissue
  7. The announcer just said "Albany has a huge recruiting advantage in the America East...Albany athletes are treated like royalty. They're the big game in town and like a pro franchise here." Huh?
  8. It looks way more full on TV, but the crowd seems a bit dead. Someone dunk or go on a three point run. Also, is Baker in the dog house?
  9. Locked into a web contract? with who? Angelfire? altavista? It's an embarrassment.
  10. Just did a quick search, ODU's basketball attendance has gone down by almost 2500 per game over the last 3 years.
  11. So, based on his background, we know that Benson is great at getting corporate giving, but how did ODU fare on the attendance side of thing, and do we know what kind of broad plan, if there is a broad plan, he's putting in place to increase engagement?
  12. Thought you'd all get a kick out of this. http://www.midmajormadness.com/2015/2/16/8024967/top-10-sexiest-mid-major-coaches-of-2015
  13. Click. You hearing anything about a total reconstruction from folks other than comments by Benson on the broadcast the other day ?
  14. Did I just hear emphasizing the Great Dane more? And a new logo? I just plotzed! Seriously though, would love to hear more about what he said about those two topics. As you all know, my favorites!
  15. Who was the last major university with D1 sports to change its name ? I can't think of any. Only one that comes to mind is Glassboro turning into Rowan but that was a mug smaller school
  16. I almost forgot. You guys knew this one was coming..but as far as branding goes..MORE DAMIEN THE DANE! I want to see that logo at center court, at midfield, everywhere. I noticed its on the side of the legs of the mens baskeball shorts, so that's a start. Way more distinct than the multi-colored A that we see now.
  17. I wonder if replacing the @ with "Of" is part of that clearer branding. Personally, I think Albany University would be better on brand because its the most different of all the names in the past, plus sounds the least "State school" Thought we'd have to get rid of the UA Uknow chant and that would sadden me.
  18. I get a good feeling about Benson and his engagement of both community and student body. He's spoken frequently about asses in the seats and attendance
  19. Just saw a tweet that said 500 tix still available. So it will be at least over 4k. Im assuming 500 person walkup is likely?
  20. This is the SECOND story about Greg Stire's hair acumen. Was this a fed out story by the Sports Info office, or are we finally getting the attention we always felt this program deserved?
