  1. Yes we've definitely improved our recruiting in the last 4-5 years. We just changed coaches again. Not sure what happened to precipitate the change.
  2. I think our running game is pretty good. I would run the ball until someone stops us. Too many times we throw on 2nd and 5. I know you have to throw some when there's 9 or 10 in the box, but we abandon the run way too soon IMO. I'd rather throw on 3rd and 2-3 than 5-6, which happens when we throw on 2nd down. I can't remember any negative plays from the running backs. I don't think we ran enough in all the losses.
  3. I don't think the defense did well either. Our passing game was the best defense CCSU had. Kicker did better, but came up short at the end. I'm afraid It's going to be a long sad year ofr Bob and the team. We'd be in last place in the NEC.
  4. On the viewer's left if in a line with all flags the same height. Front and center if ahead of the line, or center if its pole is taller than the others. I don't know about two groupings at right angles to each other. It's nice to have instant replay, but I wish they didn't put up stupid graphics like "Great Play" RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE REPLAY. And I would've preferred using the whole screen for the game video and putting the stats up between plays, instead of both at once. We thought the same thing. The replays should be full screen.
  5. After watching the kicker at Colgate, I thought we were ok, but not quite sure now. Agree on marching band selection, totally wrong. I couldn't understand why we didn't call TO for our first FG attempt. We used up most of play clock before the FG unit went on field. the kicker was at the far end of bench ahd got there late. The whole thing was rushed. I think we needed to run more. It takes some reps to get a rhythm going. Thought Fiacchi should have run a few more times when receivers were covered. Also thought he passed up some easy yards on some throws where the TE was open shorter. As I'm an old man now, I have a lot of empathy for the kicker. Had to be tough to sleep last night.
  6. I can't believe it will be < 6000. Our first home game was always pretty well attended at the old venue. I just hope everything is ready so that the new or casual fans have a good experience.
  7. Well, it's a win. I'll watch the replay before I can say anything else about it. I'm really glad RI is our first home game.
  8. I just got home and started watching. Why do we throw at all right now. The running games hasn't been stopped except by our incomplete or intercepted passes.
  9. If they did it 10 yrs ago, Every donor would be up in arms after nothing happened for 8 yrs.
  10. by splitting off, ualbany will avoid CSNE's audits.
  11. There are federally approved ind. cost rates, which are used for recovery. You submit proposals and they are negotiated.
  12. There are different indirect cost rates for research vs. training grants and contracts. Obviously, research facilities are more costly and have more overhead so they recover more costs. If RNA grows as hoped this will increase IC cost recovery.
  13. Not in favor of Damien. If we want people to know Albany, Then the current approach is fine with me. Let's stick with the logo. Concentrate on all the other things that need much more attention.
  14. Preferred Seating The Orange Club Preferred Seating Plan was initiated when the Carrier Dome opened in 1980. Your annual contribution to the Plan entitles you to reserved season ticket seating in special areas of the Carrier Dome for either SU Football, SU Basketball or both sports. CONTRIBUTIONS FOR PREFERRED SEATING Preferred Seating contributions are made on a per seat basis for one year with options to renew in subsequent years. There are four levels depending on where the seat is located: A, B, C or D. The contribution amount differs, depending if you have Basketball seats (with or without football seats), or only football seats. A survey of preferred seating plans at other top universities around the country found SU's giving levels to be among the lowest offered. Please study the seating configuration diagrams and call the Carrier Dome Box Office concerning specific seating. Preferred Seating Donation Prices 2013-2014 (ticket price is separate) Preferred- Football Only Regular Fac/Staff A Level $630 $504 B Level $410 $328 C Level $260 $208 D Level $185 $148 Preferred- Basketball Only Regular Fac/Staff A Level $725 $580 B Level $550 $440 C Level $315 $252 D Level $225 $180 Preferred- Both Sports Regular Fac/Staff A Level $795 $636 B Level $575 $460 C Level $350 $280 D Level $260 $208 IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE PLAN Seating locations available to new Preferred Seating contributors are in the A, B, C and D level locations, as available. All upgrades are based on availability. Note that first level A and B seats require an additional donation of up to $10,000 over 5 year. Preferred Seating contributors are required to purchase season tickets for the sport(s) they have chosen according to the stated deadlines for those sports. When choosing seating for both SU Football and Basketball, the seat(s) will be in different locations for each sport because the seating configuration differs (and as seating is available). Preferred Seating contribution renewals are billed in the early part of the calendar year for that fall's SU Football and Basketball seasons. Preferred payments are part of a patrons total yearly Athletic Donation (July 1 to June 30) and are used to assign Orange Club benefits in the next fiscal year. AN EXAMPLE OF HOW THE PLAN WORKS John Smith wants to purchase three season tickets for SU Football in D level Preferred Seating and calls the Carrier Dome Box Office. A staff member talks with John, explains what is currently available and helps assign John's seating locations. John sends an Orange Club Preferred Seating contribution to the Box Office for the upcoming SU Football season. Depending on when John made his Preferred Seating contribution, he would either pay at that time or be billed for the cost of three SU Football season tickets. For the next football season, John can renew his Preferred Seating and SU Football season tickets according to the annual renewal deadlines. A year later John decides to purchase SU Basketball season tickets. His Preferred Seating contribution would change to the Preferred rate for SU Basketball and Football (instead of the SU football only rate). He calls the Carrier Dome Box Office and is assigned the three best seats currently available at the D level for SU Basketball. John would either pay at that time or be billed for the cost of three SU Basketball season tickets, as well as pay any difference in the Preferred rate. This example doesn't cover all facets of Preferred Seating but gives you a general overview of how it works. Please note that a portion of your contribution may be deductible under Section 170 (l) of the Internal Revenue Code, which generally allows a charitable contribution deduction equal to 80 percent of the amount paid to an educational institution for the right to purchase tickets for seating at an athletic event in an athletic stadium at such institution. As the University is not in a position to provide you with tax advice, you should consult with your tax advisor for the proper tax treatment of your contribution.
  15. Some AEC rep goes to the NCAAs, but it's still an AEC school. The fact we give anyone a scare just makes it harder to get home games. We're not offering money games we're trying to get them.
  16. Sure, I don't know how he survives on his 800Gs now.
  17. Scholarships usually pay out around 4% of the endowment, so you need 500,000 to fund a 20,000 scholarship. 63 20,000 is over 30 million.
  18. I'd like to see UAlbany get a piece of Harriman, or better yet all of it. Skip the bricks and Ivy though.
