  1. Excerpt from Buffalo paper: The University at Buffalo's ability to succeed in Division I sports will depend on financial support from the community, the chancellor of the State University of New York said here Monday. "If we want to do it, we're going to have to have some people out there willing to support it," Robert L. King said following a speech at a breakfast meeting of educational and community leaders. "It's an important element of the campus. Again, it's going to come down to money." King said the State Legislature is unlikely to provide sufficient funds to develop big-time Division I athletic programs at UB or other campuses in the SUNY system. Instead, he said, the individual schools should look to financial supporters, booster clubs or business partnerships. In a hopeful development, he noted, private donations to SUNY schools are up 73 percent since 1999. "If we reach out to our alumni and ask them for help, they are giving," King said. UB recently hired Gene Corrigan, former commissioner of the Atlantic Coast Conference, as a consultant to help determine the direction of the athletic program. Binghamton University and the State Universities of Albany and Stony Brook also are attempting to build successful Division I sports programs. "It has been a little bit of a difficult road," King said during his speech in the Hyatt Regency Buffalo. "I am hopeful that over time we will win our share of division championships." ------------------ I'm buying my lotto tickets religiously, my current donation levels aren't going to get it done!
  2. I'm going to Villanove, and if the game is on the Syracuse Time Warner brooadcast, I'm having someone tape it for me. I don't know if its on though. I think I'll go to Siena vs. Vermont.
  3. I noticed that Zollner always goes right, even when overplayed in that direction. There were several times he could have drop stepped left and scored but went to his right across the lane. He hasn't had much PT in his career yet, so I think he'll keep improving rapidly, at least I hope so.
  4. They called TO when they didn't have one. I guess that's why they got the ball back after the T, instead of us, which would have iced the game.
  5. I had heard that winter commencement was one of the big reasons for the floor not being finished.
  6. It was great! Thanks for the kind words soups. I wish the best for Siena the rest of the year. The better they do, the better we look.
  7. That was a very accurate recollection. I was a teammate, but not in Potter, being an old maareid commuting student. Aaaahhh youthful enthusiasms. I'm doubling my dose of Celebrex for Tuesday! I sit in a Siena season ticket section. I root for Siena, except against UA, and this year Vermont.
  8. I see Rudy Vido at the football games. I'm sure he has recollections of that night.
  9. Middle ear infection for Dyson, which affects your balance. Missed last 3 days of practice.
  10. I was there for that one. That was during the "good old days', before most of you were born. The chants of Beat St. Rose from us and Beat Albany High from the Siena faithful.
  11. Brown said at luncheon today that Q might play in small increments. Brent says he is ok, but that is still up in the air. Both practiced today. Brent's parents are going to the Sacred Heart game.
  12. Our clock and timeout management was consistently poor this year. I would freak out when nick would call time out in the beginning of the second half, on a first and ten around mid field. It happened several times and came back to bite us several times as well. I suppose if it happens to the Jets, it will happen at this level, but it's still very frustrating.
  13. If I heard correctly, Peterson is Redshirting.
  14. Q and Wlson didn't play. This bodes very well, I think.
  15. I can see Wyatt starting and Wilson finishing. Wyatt was doing a pretty good defensive job against much bigger centers last year. I don't think he'll be required to provide much offense which should come from the other 4 in your projected lineups.
  16. Here's the explanation for that. Due to a contract agreement, we are no longer using the company that sold that merchandise. We are looking to have a new link up for the holidays, hopefully in the next week or two. Please call Peter London at 442-3310 for any of your merchandise needs.
  17. Q and Dyson didn't play. They're nursing minor injuries. played 3 halves. We won.
  18. Limping in gym, after scrimmage with Colgate. Foot injury.
  19. I'm disappointed that the early games, before the RACC floor is finished, can't be played in University Gym.
  20. Crowds for VB have been pretty good and have seemed to increase as the season's progressed. I've only missed one home match. I've relly become addicted to the game. They are great to watch.
