  1. We already did - a few years ago when we shocked Vermont by a score, I think, of 45-30, in a televised game. I think "the kid" plainly angered "the master."
  2. Yes, you are correct. I was really wondering who Coach Brown meant when he mentioned Vermont actors. Perhaps the state has two Oscar nominees. It will be very interesting when Vermont visits on February 16. Maybe the Danes can hold a contest of some sort when the people from the Green Mountain State come to town in response to the reception we will have received earlier on Jan. 22. Anyway, Brennan's act is getting old, but Feb. 16 will be the last episode for the coach. Soon we will see the last installment of the Antique Road Show.
  3. I hope I am not stealing Dane Pound''s job too much. Links to tonight's game. http://www.timesunion.com/AspStories/story...date=12/30/2004 http://www.troyrecord.com/site/news.cfm?ne...id=523732&rfi=6 Wish I could be in attendance, for several reasons.
  4. The Lady Danes beat American U tonight 74-57. I know none of the details, except that UAlbany was behind at the half.
  5. The rebound stat I saw confirmed your suspicions. According to the source I saw, we were outrebounded 19-9. Is that the total number of rebounds for the game?
  6. I am very interested in hearing how you felt the game tonight went. I was unable to connect with sound for the game.
  7. Dane Pound, Keep those images of sugar plum fairies coming! Let's hope the rest of the season continues the improvement. I just want to thank you for sponsoring this board. You just posted three bits of info that keep us very well informed on UAlbany ball. Each bit of info was really helpful to understand how this team is operating this year. Have a great holiday, and please keep up the great work in the future!
  8. Statefan, Very good and humorous post. I might add that I receive my newspaper information online. And it was especially gratifying that the article on the Danes -- when they did not and will not play within 24 hours -- was placed ABOVE the article on the Saints' loss last night. Your comment on the "gift that keeps giving" was particularly gratifying. Best of luck over the holidays, and we all know that 2005 will be better than 2004.
  9. And another view of last night's game against 'Nova: http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/sports/co...10481467.htm?1c Perhaps it will be more difficult in the future to "sneak up" on other big-time opponents. Great game, Danes! Have a Merry Christmas!
  10. What a difference in offense between last year and this season, so far. UAlbany scored 72 points against a very good team. Last season we scored 72 points only twice in the whole season. One of those two games required two overtimes to bring the point total to that level. It's going to be great to see us finally at home this year and note the major difference in teams between the seasons.
  11. Make that "down by 7." It was 8-1. I was just so excited.
  12. Unbelievable! Down by eight early in the first half, UAlbany is behind Vilanova by only one point at the half: 33-32.
  13. BLAIR BUCHANAN NAMED AVCA HONORABLE MENTION ALL-AMERICAN Albany, N.Y. – UAlbany sophomore setter Blair Buchanan was named an honorable mention All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Wednesday, Dec. 15. Buchanan, the lone America East Conference player on the squad, is the first UAlbany volleyball athlete to earn Division I All-America recognition. Buchanan, the America East player and setter of the year, became the first student-athlete in conference history to capture both awards in the same season. She tallied 1,448 assists to establish the school record for a single season. Buchanan averaged a conference-best 12.59 assists per game and 2.39 digs. The tri-captain registered at least 50 assists in nine matches and set a school record with 71 helpers in a win over Stony Brook. Buchanan was recognized by the AVCA earlier this month after being selected to the All-Northeast Region team. UAlbany (27-7) captured its first-ever America East regular-season and tournament championships this season. The Great Danes became the first women’s program in school history to qualify for an NCAA Division I Tournament.
  14. Coach Marr appears to be continuing the trend of strengthening UAlbany's lacrosse team. He is especially pleased by bringing in players from the traditionally strong Central New York area. http://www.albany.edu/sports/stories.htm#mlaxearly2005 Congratulations on the early signings!

  16. Statefan, Thanks for your usual, valuable contribution.
  17. What a different game! It was refreshing! My wife and I made it to the game, and the weather was a little iffy - nothing really bad, however - as we started out. Conditions improved as we got closer to West Point. It was good to see everyone contribute and everyone feel a stake in the team. Yes, Jamar did force it sometimes. Zoellner must have been frustrated in the first half as almost perfect moves did not convert to points. He became a little more aggressive in the second half toward the hoop. Yes, I was wondering why Brandon Perry was not in the lineup. I heard nothing about it at the game. Courtney Johnson looked good, and Lucious just did his thing. He was so smooth it was a surprise to me how many points he made. It was very good to see Baumann get into the game. Man, does he look skinny, though! For once, an Army game did not go down to the last few minutes or less. I think Army has less than in past years, but we looked much, much better.
  18. I don't know whether this weather info will make anyone's decision easier or not. Good luck with your decisions. Whether you appear in person or listen on the radio, the Great Danes would appreciate your support tonight. It is critical for us to get back on the right track.
  19. Dane Pound, I may be considered a devil's advocate on the weather topic, but here is more information that may make someone's decision more difficult. I will be frank. For my wife, the distance to the Army game is the closest thing we have to a home game, and even we are debating whether the weather is good for going. I have checked a couple Internet sites on the weather, and a trip to Army from the north may be more difficult than the trip back home. The Weather Channel and Accuweather agree that the precipitation in the area around West Point will clear up within a couple hours of the end of the game. One site has the possibility for ice and slippery conditions at Kristl (no pun intended) Arena closer to the beginning of the game; the other site predicts the fun time towards the end (provided, of course, the number of overtime periods is limited). It looks like an iffy situation. Best of luck to those needing to make a decision.
  20. Dane Pound, Whew! I am forgiven. For a while, I was not sure. Nobody was exactly rushin' to post more ideas to this thread.
  21. And here's this analysis from the Troy Record. http://www.troyrecord.com/site/news.cfm?ne...id=523732&rfi=6 Good luck, Danes!
  22. An article in today's Times-Union about the effect the suspension that Levine may have on the Danes tonight. Most of us should be aware of this. http://www.timesunion.com/AspStories/story...&tacodalogin=no
  23. I apologize for my arrogant and pompous replies to this topic. But when I saw the Russian novel category, I thought I would reply with a novel Russian response. I did not mean to choke off a really good idea about participant awards. I certainly did not want to become the poster child for rude and unwanted posts on this forum. Please, let's come up with some other good awards and move this concept forward.
  24. Statefan, Excu-u-u-u-u-u-se me! I am not "Woman [жена] from Russia." I am муж из Америки [Man of America]!
  25. I should have said, "Мир и война: Новое мышление: заметки военного ученого (Человечество на пороге XVIII века)"
