  1. Someone on here was questioning the strength of the CAA a few weeks ago for only getting 3 teams in the playoffs.......well 50% of the semifinals is pretty solid evidence of that strength! FCS Semifinals: New Hampshire at North Dakota State Towson at Eastern Washington
  2. I know you weren't knocking anybody. Still, the running styles of the two backs is different. The ground-and pound, ball control offense that UA excelled at was missing all year, young/soft O-line or not...and where the hell were the screen passes that this program has historically run so well? Comparing accomplishments of a team in the CAA to a team in the NEC is apples and oranges. Smith, a terrific back, would not have come close to those totals in the CAA even with the best O Lines we ever had. Get over the NEC glory days, no way any of those great championship teams do much better in league play as this years team did. Lest we forget that we lost to Duquesne and Central Ct state this year. And our running game did us no good against those "lowly" NEC teams either.
  3. My comment is not a knock on Osbourne. He's very very good. It's on the running game and scheme. OLine was soft as pudding is year. BTW - West ended up with over 350 yards rushing and 5 TDs. Unbelievable game for him.
  4. Anyone watching the Towson vs EIU game on ESPN right now is seeing a textbook hard nosed CAA football squad winning in the playoffs. Terrance West has 265 yards rushing and 4 TDs with 1:13 left in the THIRD QUARTER!!! Keeping the best QB in the country off the field. We used to play that way. Gary Jones, David McCarty, Drew Smith....we need to get back to that.
  5. Footballscoop.com reporting that Bernard Clark Jr will join the defensive staff. He's currently Defensive Coordinator at Hampton.
  6. Director of Football Operations and the Recruiting Coordintator make the most sense to me from a transitional standpoint. Two very important roles.
  7. Santillo quoting a player tweet saying Gattuso is keeping 4 coaches.
  8. You know what I love even more than the article itself is the author....Steve Amedio....aka @MAACHoopscribe on twitter. Color commentator for Siena!
  9. That's quite honestly one of the best article ever written about UA football. It's amazing that it basically echoes what we've been saying on here for years! years!
  10. Offensive coordinator is a key hire IMO. Especially if your O-line coach doesn't have college coaching experience.
  11. Plus it's a good thing to sell to recruits. We're going to have a lot more NFL prospects coming through Albany now. His experience can only help with that.
  12. Don't know anything about him other than he played in the NFL for 16 years.
  13. Just about to post this...Greg Gattuso: "I believe we can bring a National Championship to the University at Albany." ME: It's TRUE!!!! We can do it! We have every resource now in place. Stadium, scholarships, league affiliation. WIN BABY WIN!
  14. Just about to post this...Greg Gattuso: "I believe we can bring a National Championship to the University at Albany."
  15. Much better schedule. No real No back-to-back league road games in Virginia this year!
  16. I wonder what the long term 5-10 year plan looks like...they are paying great money for a coach. Wonder if they are shooting for something more then FCS. This pay scale speaks volumes. I'd love to see whether there is anything in his contract for what happens if UA changes conferences or reclassified to FBS. Highly unlikely, but if its in his contract......
  17. This is even more proof that McElroy and Jones are committed to a major level FCS program.
  18. Official Announcement http://www.ualbanysports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=209335178&DB_OEM_ID=15800
  19. Footballscoop reporting that Jim Sweeney will join the staff as Offensive line coach. Sweeney was a high school teammate of Gattuso and played a ton of years in e NFL as a o-lineman including 10 years with the Jets.
  20. Might bode well for keeping guys like Simpson and Bannagin. I believe Simpson was on the staff when Benson was a GA.
