  1. Elon fired their coach today too. They join CAA play next year. P That's 4 open spots Albany URI JMU Elon
  2. I'm not exaggerating when I say that we probably had more fans today then Stony Brook did. Didn't give our guys any fight. looked flat from the first play. The Ngachie play was BS. It was a borderline roughing the passer. It was not an ejectable offense. Absolutely nothing else remarkable about the game. Embarrassing honestly. Priore called off the dogs in the second half. They could have put 50 up on us.
  3. The treasure trove that is that office. I'd love to see some of the things he finds in there.
  4. Good question. I suspect it would have to go through the Comptroller's office for legal review, but I don't think SUNY central would be involved.
  5. Agreed. I wasn't pointing out the 12 states to contest your point. Rather to support it. I have no concerns of Ros or a Keeler being able to recruit, but I do think their recruiting will likely be materially different in approach.
  6. Ros has players from over 12 states on his New haven roster. Heavy from NJ which is loaded with talent. Another recruiting observation at this level.....the recruiting battles are won by the assistant coaches in the trenches. A lot of kids that will end up here now in the CAA have higher ambitions to start. It takes work and time spent by assistant coaches giving them a soft cushion to fall on when their dreams of Notre Dame don't pan out. Stadium and the CAA sell themselves now. Lastly, do you think Keeler can recruit Section 2? We've had some pretty darn good ball players from Section II. We need to continue to win those battles and beat Stony Brook and Fordham out for North Jersey and Long Island.
  7. Keeler had 5 straight DIII National Championship appearances at Rowan before he got hired at Delaware.
  8. The one thing I can guarantee is that the exact same discussion is being had or was had behind closed doors about this. Do you want to win fast? Or do you have the patience to wait out a few more rough seasons? Do you want a leader that wants the limelight and to win? Or do you want a selfless behind the scenes leader? Like I've said over and over - likely the most important and the most scrutinized decision McElroy will have ever made. He hasn't really had a tough decision like this yet. Stadium - no brainer. Will Brown - why not stick with him? CAA - no brainer for football only. AD's have made and killed their entire career based on football coaching hires.......Even if this isn't the big time of football, its still one of the highest paid and arguably the highest profile job in the entire University.
  9. Before this season I wouldn't have vehemently disagreed with you. After this season, I almost agree with you.
  10. He's polarizing to say the least. He was not consistent at Delaware, true. But his highs were as high as you can get.
  11. Great great article by the Troy Record. Class act over across the river. http://www.troyrecord.com/sports/20131119/on-the-record-age-really-is-just-a-number
  12. Figured I'd start a new thread since its bound to happen in the next few weeks if not sooner: Here's a rumor some of us have heard for weeks. https://twitter.com/...170865048612864
  13. Yes it is his first year although I believe he was the QB against Villanova in their playoff win last year.
  14. Their QB is incredibly talented. Throws one of the nicest balls I've seen in a long time.
  15. Didn't a new President recently get hired down there?
  16. Scholarships are one year agreements. It is up to the school, but as click said, kids rarely lose scholarships and choose to stay on so the termination of the scholarship generally coincides with the player leaving.
  17. Quick question for all--how will a new head coach and coaching staff affect current scholarship players, if at all? Probably won't change anything in the first year. But each scholarship is a one-year contract so they could in the next years change the scholarship structure.
  18. Agreed. They actually got lucky with Saturday's game. I also think they need to do more promos early in the year. Hall of Fame weekend is not a promotion. It does not draw crowds.
  19. Imagine if the Athletic Department knew how to promote the games better. Agreed. Hopefully there will be a lot of changes next year. The stadium was great and ran a lot better than I thought it would in the first year. But there is a ton of room for improvement next year on the fan experience and promotion. For one, take the mic away from that woman with the t shirts and never give it back.
  20. So will the naysayers take notice now that UAlbany football is the #1 ticket in town? All that with a 1-9 and 0-5 home record....
