  1. So glad he touched on tackling. 2013 was the year of the missed tackle.
  2. There are definitely advantages of being FBS in NY. Some FCS schools can get the same exposure at the FCS level that they would at the FBS level due to location, etc. Montana comes to mind. The college football audience in the northeast is very limited. That audience is much more likely to be interested in an FBS school, even a low level FBS team than an FCS team. It's just fact. And don't use UMass as an example. It was a terrible plan. I am personally happy at the FCS level as currently stands because we don't have the resources to play FBS like Buffalo so why try half baked? That's what UMass did. That doesn't work. But if all of a sudden Pres Jones said he was going to dump $5m more a year into football and build the remaining 18,000 seats onto the stadium I'd be all for it.
  3. We need a professional graduate school(s). Anyone know where to find one?
  4. Interestingly I'm reading whispers about Buffalo and UMass to the AAC. Good for them if they can make it happen.
  5. The MAC is not an option IMO. We don't have the money for that. Buffalo spends $10m a year than we do.
  6. If you don't use Twitter this may mean nothing to you but... "DJ Evans" and "Albany" were top 10 trends in America during the game. Pretty cool to see them pop up as the top trends. When will the French major ever make that happen? NEVER! there I said it.
  7. This is a great article. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/albany-gives-florida-a-scare---flirts-with-being-biggest-cinderella-of-all-time-223604066.html?soc_src=mediacontentstory Take note TU.
  8. Agreed. I was watching on my iPhone under a conference room table in a meeting and I was getting texts like crazy. Coach Brown and the boys represented UAlbany very we'll today. Kudos to them.
  9. Might get some of VCU's payout from their final four appearance. The CAA teams are still getting that.
  10. They should be able to put it up on DaneZone. The more events they broadcast from Bob Ford Field, the better they'll get at them.
  11. FYI - Spring game will be held April 19th at Bob Ford Field at approx. 12:00pm. Not much else going on on campus that day (Tennis match I think) so lets make it a great turnout! You should get a good view of the new offense and defensive schemes. From Coach Gattuso's mouth - the offense will be simple but explosive. Spread it out and score a ton of points. Looking back at his Duquesne days, that was his MO then as well.
  12. Many people believe we delayed until after the AEast tourney. I suspect if we do move, they already know and will announce after the tournament game.
  13. Too bad they couldn't do bus trip to this viewing party "St. Maarten The Royal Palm Beach Resort Pool Bar"
  14. This really is a no-win situation for Buffalo especially after they almost lost to Stony Brook last year. I'm surprised they agreed to it.
  15. Confirmed by UB now and Coach Gattuso last night: We will open the 2015 season at Buffalo! http://www.ubbullrun.com/2014/3/7/5481522/buffalo-to-open-the-2015-season-versus-albany
  16. A few points of interest on the Albany Law School issue: 1. Dan Nolan is now the Albany Law School Board of Trustees Chair/President. For those of you who don't know Dan, he is a Football Alumni, donated a ridiculous amount of money to the stadium and is a super nice guy. 2. Albany law has been sending tons of emails and mailings to alumns lately explaining the issues they are having (drop in enrollment, funding, etc...). The time is right for this to happen.
  17. Next time I get a minute with president Jones I intend to ask him about Albany Law. I've had some correspondence with the Dean of Albany Law and the head of their Board of Trustees. They did not dismiss the idea and said they would explore it. That was about 6 months ago though. Big event at the Hearst Tower this Thursday. I'll ask around there too. It would be a great thing for both schools and for the SUNY system.
  18. Don't kid yourselves - this is a "merger" in name only. This is a takeover attempt. Jones would have never gone for that.

This is one of the fairest schedules we've had. I'd like to see this continue, except replace one of the Patriot League games with an FBS game. 1 FBS 1 NEC 1 Ivy 1 Patriot

  21. Sept 6th at Central Ct. http://ccsubluedevils.com/sports/fball/2013-14/releases/20140211nd3pl6 A great way to congratulate Coach Rossamondo on his new job. You better believe he'll be coming after us.
