  1. Either one is great. I like the series with Colgate though. Perhaps we found a way to schedule both and that's how we'll get to 7 home games.
  2. We have a Nike contract. Kid probably bought a hat somewhere at the mall.
  3. Thompson might be one of the best recruits in all of FCS this year. Ngachi was last year as well. Good Counsel is A LB factory apparently.
  4. Spring ball will be very interesting. Downer Harding Smith Fiacchi New offense. I believe we'll see a simpler offense this year, but that doesn't mean all run. Not sure Harding comes here if it is. Kid throws the rock.
  5. @@UAlbanyFootball has a nice list going. Isaiah Powell Anthony Paolello (St. Joseph) Julian Cox (New Castle, PA) Jamal Robinson (Dematha, MD) Sam Madaras (Good Counsel, MD) Steve Shanley (Paramus Catholic, NJ) Jack Dudzinski (Reservoir, MD) Greg Reaves (Manatee, FL) https://twitter.com/UAlbanyFootball
  6. Happy Signing Day! Good luck and welcome to all the new members of the Purple Fam!
  7. I don't believe we have an FBS game until 2015. They were shooting for 7 home games which is probably what the hold up is. Finding a home game to replace Duquesne?
  8. The other thing that everyone seems to be missing is our stadium has in actuality a very small capacity. Sure it says 8,500, but if I remember correctly, at least 3500 of that is either temporarily bleachers or berm seating. There's no way we are going to keep renting temp bleachers at $150k a year. My personal opinion is that we'll see a $10-12m expansion in 2 years. Likely to include east side permanent stands that bring total capacity to 12,000-14,000 with an end zone building housing academic support, athletic training, locker rooms and coaches offices. The building is very much needed. Our training and coaching facilities are not up to DI standards. We should be ok at 12,000-14,000 capacity for to rest of this decade unless some landscape changes happen in FBS that require us to put up or get relegated.
  9. Agreed, but I still don't think this changes anything. If Jones wants to expand the stadium, he doesn't need the TU or Svare to approve. They didn't approve the last time around. All he needs is $$$$$$. Any we've seen from the last round - the money will come when know one expects it. $20m is chump change. Especially if they sell the naming rights for a couple million and then raise a couple million more. All of a sudden its $15m or $12m. That amount could get through without any fan fare.
  10. Just continually sad that the TU manufactures stories like this. People in the know, know it's BS, but the general community who we're looking to gain support from has no idea it's manufactured. Agreed completely. And I think it's crazy that Iorizzo is saying he didn't intend for his article to be read as UA getting ready to build.
  11. I have no issue with anything that has come out of the university on this. Jones is going to do what he wants regardless of what the TU says. He's saying nothing but the truth. There are no shovels hitting the ground in the near future. We all know that.
  12. That's one of be worst things I've ever read by the TU. The actually make an argument that a new stadium will bring rape scandals. Seriously. Wow
  13. I would love to see a MLL team take up residence as well. It would be nice to have a permanent tenant in the spring and I think the community would support it.
  14. And don't forget all the extra soil compaction and drainage work they needed to do.
  15. From what I was told, the extra cost was associated with laying the groundwork for the later expansion.
  16. This scheme represented a seating capacity of about 24k so considerable construction would be required. Wondering if the design will just be a much bigger east side to compensate.
  17. My understanding is that the top of the current press box is intended to hold another level of luxury suites and club seating. I believe the overhang on the roof now is structural. Plus I assume the away side will have less amenities (no need for more press or luxury suites if you put more on the home side) and more seating then the home side because of it.
  18. That's awesome! Bowman is one of the guys referenced by Shanley in the above article that he was trying to recruit. A pipleline from Paramus Catholic, Don Bosco, St. Joes Montvale and Bergen Catholic would be awesome. All those kids know each other. Those schools are very close and each have players from the same towns.
  19. Looks like we got $28.6m new capital appropriation. No detail what it's going to be used for.
  20. Need a subscription. This might work though: http://www.timesunion.com/default/article/38M-game-plan-for-gridiron-glory-at-UAlbany-5175422.php#page-1
  21. Yes! Absolutely the idea. We can't even have graduation in the current stadium. Too small.
