UA'08
Should there be a change in the starting lineup? Edited February 10, 2013 by UA'
Clickclack
I would submit that who starts isn't all that important. The minute distribution is puzzling. DJ Evans puts up 12pts and 4ast in 24 minutes shooting 50% from the field against UMBC...he gets two minutes against Maine. Way to reward a good outing! dslyank
I kind of agree with Clack that who starts is not really all that important; but agree with him 100% about player rotation and minutes. Black and Iati [even though I love them both] GET TOO MANY MINUTES. I think 30-32 minutes for Black and 25-30 for Iati max for both. Not only would they be fresher at the end with less minutes, but the bench has shown they can play and be an asset {not just fill minutes}. I feel used more consistently they would even be MORE of an asset. I think this 10-20 minutes one game and none or only a couple the next make it difficult for the bench players to get in game shape and in the flow of the game. I know sometimes it is a match-up thing deciding who gets minutes, but I still feel overall more minutes for the bench----increases their confidence, gives the opposition more to think about and react too, and keeps the "starters" fresher for a stretch run or to hold onto a lead at the end of a close game. I know the argument is that you should always want your best players on the floor, but a fresher confident sub often makes the "best players" , play better because they themselves are fresher and they feel the "PUSH". Anyhow I am not the coach but voted YES. After all what is the blog for except to play armchair QB and for staying informed? and for having "FRIENDLY" discussions/disagreements from time to time. Win or lose, I still have to go to work the next day--OH I forgot I am retired, so it better be win or win.

UA_MA_2000
The lineup should vary depending on the team we are playing and the match-ups. Ultimately, it really doesn't matter who "starts" in the final analysis. And I'm glad Coach makes these decisions and not me. Here is one possibility: C: Puk PF: Rowley SF: G. Johnson SG: Hooley PG: Black If we're playing Vermont, and we are in a situation where Vermont is on the power play, I wouldn't mind seeing this penalty-killing unit out there: C: Puk PF: Metcalf SF: Devlin SG: Rowley PG: Hooley Edited February 12, 2013 by UA_MA_2000
Dane Pound
I was puzzled about how little time Evans got as well. He's played pretty well in a couple of games this year and then the following game got very little time. Admittedly I follow his playing time because I like him as a player and think he can do some good things for us. I don't think we need to shake up the lineup but maybe include more Evans and GJ. To me, Iati and Mike Black play well together, the same goes for the "ley" brothers. I'd like to see Evans and GJ on the court at the same time because I think they play well together. Guerrier is taking time away from both players. It's going to sound stupid but I liked Guerrier as an undersized power forward more than I do as a small forward. I'd almost like to see him get a few minutes at that spot to maybe drag a big guy out on the perimeter and create more space underneath. I thought he did a good job of that last year. Dane Pound
I guess we will be getting a lineup change but not the way we wanted it. No mention yet of who will start against BU.
