There definitely is a time and place to slide, but show me that a certain player needs to be slid too, prove to me that someone is hot with the outside shot, and show me that they can beat my goalie from outside. It just seems that we have guys out of position way too often, and it isn't like UMBC is a super athletic team. They are known for good defense and a really methodical offense.

Agree that UA has been all about giving the outside shot and protecting in close. But yesterday UA did not seem to react/change their strategy when UMBC proved the outside shot was hot.  UMBC had 10 goals from their middies (9 between Dupuis & Galloway) some from WAYOUT; 1 goal from a long stick D; and only 1 goal from an attack. I guess one could say the strategy worked; gave up only a single goal from attack and DID win the game. But it seemed me {lucky I'm NOT the coach} that we could have/should have made some adjustments to the game plan after BC started nailing those long ones? Also, it seems to me Donnelly is better @ making the spectacular close saves than almost anything from outside {but as I say, lucky I'm not the coach.}

I believe UMBC plan was simply...take what UAlbany gives us .... if UAlbany extends their defense ... then go inside .... UAlbany defense plan was simple do not overextend the defense.... on offense...  the plan just outscore UMBC .... in bunches.... seems so three runs of 7, then 3, then 2.... all with relative little time off the clock ..... some of the turnovers drove me crazy .... then I remembered.... the UAlbany players are just trying to win a game....things happen ... in the end UAlbany played great keep away ....

UMBC doesn't have explosive attack men. The slides today, and for the last number of years have been hard to understand and we created much of their offense. Kunz was sliding to guys 15-20 yards out, and when we make those slides it causes the the defense to start chasing. I have never understood what is going on back there. Overall just way, way too sloppy.

AGREE!!

WHY is Ron John EVER in there as a middie on Defense.  He is slow afoot and gets beat a LOT for goals!

Two goals allowed by Ron John -
