Golden State Warriors forward Anthony Lamb sexually assaulted a fellow student when he was at the University of Vermont, according to allegations in a lawsuit filed by three women against the school. The plaintiffs, in the suit, stated they were suing the university because “deliberate indifference to student-on-student harassment, sexual assault, and drugging created a discriminatory and sexually hostile environment in which female students faced a heightened risk of sexual assault and, once assaulted, lacked any meaningful avenue of redress.”

Lamb was not named as a defendant in the suit.

“The allegations made against me in 2019 that have recently resurfaced are patently false,” he said in a statement. “I have always been fully cooperative regarding the alleged incident, and have welcomed any investigation into the matter. Simply put, I have never committed sexual assault.”

The Warriors also released a statement on the matter.

“Anthony is not a defendant in this recent lawsuit and, to our knowledge, he has never been charged with any wrongdoing in any legal case,” Golden State said. “Prior to signing Anthony in September, we did our due diligence with the NBA and his prior teams, as we do with all players.   If any new information comes to light, we will certainly evaluate it and act accordingly.

Drafted out of Vermont in 2021, the 6-foot-6 forward is averaging 5.8 points, and 3.4 rebounds a game this season for the Warriors.

What the heck are they talking about? He was named and accused of rape. Saying Lamb is not involved in this civil suit, when his name is prominently displayed in the headline, is just NBA cover your a$$ bull sheet,

I would like to know the reasons why the criminal charges have not been filed against the athletes involved and will the plaintiffs in the civil case eventually seek a criminal outcome in the matter?

Probably because of what happened at Duke with (IIRC) the LAX team? Might be precedent. So better to just settle in civil court since he's got at least some sort of $$$ now.

This case has nothing to do with Lamb. It does not matter if Lamb did it or not. Rape is hard to prove in court. This case is about the schools response to the complaints the student made. The school essentially told her to keep quiet and not rock the boat of the basketball teams success. They failed her when she needed help. Even if it wasn't really rape.... You know it was consensual at first and became non consensual after it was over, or went from consensual to non consensual in the middle. Yes I know those are both still rape, but it's much hard to convict in those cases.... Even if he is 100% innocent and it never happened: the school still should have taken the accusations and pleas for help seriously instead of telling her to zip it. This is where it becomes a potential title IX violation and a black eye on the campus.

Lamb is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. If she does not have enough evidence and/or the case is one of those consensual non-consensual situations then she would never bring the case against him until she could prove it. Until that happens, Lamb's job is probably safe until it becomes bad PR for the team. As of now the story is fairly buried.
