Game #12: 11/18/23 - 1:00PM vs Monmouth (Regular Season Finale)

Recommended Posts

Per my understanding, if things hold, Albany, Nova, and Richmond all finish in first and 7-1.

Since none of the three faced each other and all three beat their only common opponents, Albany will get the autobid due to their win over 'Nova and with Richmond only having a +62 point differential in CAA games with Albany having a +136 point differential.  My point differential might be SLIGHLY off.

If Albany gets the autobid, I'd be highly surprised if the committee doesn't seed UA as the #7 or #8 team, particularly with some scores around the FCS (Southern).

If I have this right...

Here are the pt differentials right now:

Nova 96+21 = 117
UA 92+21 = 113

Need a garbage time TD by Delaware.

The Delaware score is irrelevant.  We finish ahead of 'Nova due to head to head.  It comes down to us and Richmond if Richmond holds.  We dominate them in that scenario.

Albany absolutely mauls Monmouth...finishes 5-0 at home overall, 4-0 in the CAA at home, 7-1 in the CAA.

Per my understanding of how things will work out based on the Richmond-W&M scores and 'Nova-UD, the Spiders, Danes, and Wildcats are (at the time of typing) co-champs however, Albany receives the autobid due to our win over 'Nova and a massive point differential advantage over the Spiders in CAA scoring.

Congrats to the Danes...and credit where it is due, Coach Gatttuso and his staff...who many of us have been hard on...have put together an incredibly close-knit and great football team.  First CAA title for Albany and did it with 6 early season starters out for the season, staggered from Game 1-4.

According to the announcement pasted above I don't think that is the case.  If there is a three way tie with Richmond, Albany and Nova, the win against Nova means nothing since they didn't all play each other and they go to pt differential.  And with the max of 21 pts per game in differential, Albany can only get to a +113.

Ahhh...interesting...also not how it was explained to me by someone in the CAA office.  That would be absolute crap.

I really hope you are right because Delaware was driving for a garbage time TD to give UA the points differential and their third string freshman QB threw a pick 6.

Knowing the CAA, I think you are right...since the league is a cluster.  Would be awful.  I just don't know how that is logically right if three teams are tied but two played each other...then that other team should be out.
