We need more energy from our players

nice image from days of old ... but, it looks like Mike Black, John Puk, and Sam Rowley in the middle of the action ... certainly would be open to a few blue collar scrappers in the mold of Sam ... kid was a package

Maybe some posters of photos like this put up around the locker room and some inspirational video collages would pump up our guys. Or a pre-season guest lecture by the likes of Brian Lillis or Levi Levine. Need to set the bar somehow so that players know what’s expected of them. Sports psychologist couldn’t hurt either. Clearly, this year’s tactics didn’t work.

Do we really need another thread about this? Let’s blame the players for their lack of energy, but god forbid we start one about the coaching staff not getting the most out of their players, people on this board lose their sh*t. 

This years team went far as the 15-16 team. Did they lack energy too? That 12-13 team had plenty of issues as well if I remember correctly.

Lack of energy is what was blamed for the loss to Hartford that season...

I'm with you...it's the coaches job to get the most out of the talent. They didn't...I think if you were to ask Will Brown or any of the other coaches they would tell you the same thing (I hope).

They didn't get it done collectively and the bench was never developed or poorly constructed. There's no denying it...that's on the coaching staff as well.

Two former first team guards and an all defensive team player. Expectations should be high next year when I think about it, now that the season is almost a month over.

Hopefully Lulka and Hanks can contribute and we can grab 2 solid bigs.

No reason we shouldn't be good the question is how good can we be.

It's David & Joe's last shot at the NCAAs, every freshman that has stayed 4years over the last 8 or 9 years has had at least 1 NCAA appearance.

Not to mention losses across the AE at UVM, UNH, UMBC are staggering. Consider what talent has left the AE.

- TBH, Henson, Urquhart, Ward

- Jahad, Leissner

 

4 out of 5 1st team guys are gone with Cremo the only remaining 1st teamer. Granted, Vermont returns Lamb and Duncan brothers. Other kids will step up but a lot of proven talent and winners are gone.

What happened last year is on everyone, no reason to point fingers anymore. Whatever was going on behind the scenes never worked itself out. At this point either everyone gets on the same page, or we're back in the same exact position in 2018-19. On the players to understand what the coaches want from them and get on board. On the coaches to maximize their players abilities and sit anyone who isn't doing their job.  Despite all of the talent we ended up with a pretty flawed offensive team last year beyond the behind the scenes issues. Generally had three guys on the floor who weren't going to step out beyond the arc, paint got very crowded.
