  1. Those are so nice. I stopped buying $100+ Nike's a while ago, but I'd drop $110 on a pair or two of UA ones.
  2. Did you mean defense? Cause I see plenty of offense lol. These are the two top offenses in the CAA. If JMU put up 42 on us, most of it in the 2nd half, and Richmond dropped 59 on JMU...I don't even want to venture a guess what Richmond is going to do to us. My guess for next weekend is 63-7. I think after a bye we are bound to have one or two plays that will help us score at least one TD lol.
  3. I have us losing by a touchdown and a fieldgoal. Man, new season low. We suck.
  4. But they didn't. Because he missed gimme FT's, which is my point. He will get his, of course, he's a good player. But I worry less about him (especially since I think Evan is on his level) than I would about Warney destroying our entire big man core. I guess we can agree to disagree. I'd rather give Purifoy 25pts than I would Warney. Why? Because more than likely, half of those 25 Warney points will come on And-1 shots meaning our guys like Stire, Rowley, Peters are in foul trouble. He takes much higher percentage shots (right under the basket), than Purifoy. That's basketball 101. Make the ball go out to the perimeter and make them make tougher shots. I have enough faith in our guards (Evan and Hooley) to not worry about him as much. I have less faith in our bigs (especially with Sam gone) so we need to shut him down as best we can (should have added best we can earlier - obviously no one can shut him down and keep him to 5pts). Warney going for 25 and 15 is DEVASTATING and will = a likely loss for us. Purifoy going for 25 with 2 assists and 6 TO's is far less devastating. Based on the stats of the last two games. Here are Warney's numbers, for S&Gs: 35 MPG 52% FG 0% 3PT (no attempts) 67% FT 11.5 RPG 1 APG 0 SPG 2 BPG 2 TPG 2.5 PFG 16 PPG Now look at this way. He shoots a higher percentage, closer to the basket = more chances to score. He rebounds the ball exponentially better = second opportunities for himself or his teammates. He blocks shots = not allowing US to score. And he turns the ball over less than Purifoy...based on those two games. Warney is the killer, we all know that. But if we can limit Warney at least a little? We raise our chances of winning considerably. Purifoy will NEVER beat us by himself. If you let Warney get 25/15 or 30/12...we WILL lose. like you said, we can agree to disagree....haha....Purifoy will dominantly have the ball in his hands for distribution, scoring and even turning it over....once Warney gets it in the block..essentially the play will most likely be over good or bad...until he gets the ball...Purifoy will be 100% in charge and if we control him we control the SeaWolves...IMO That is a good point, I can understand that point of view.
  5. Man I missed basketball talk . So happy the season is pretty much upon us. But they didn't. Because he missed gimme FT's, which is my point. He will get his, of course, he's a good player. 6. Yeah I think we're pretty deep too. However, I hope this time we have kids who are willing to be patient instead of being me-first like Baker. It's hard to give players time when you can go 9 or 10 deep. Baker could have ran this team next year since Sanders, Peter, etc. are graduating. He'd be one of the top if not THE top guards on the team next year. Say what you want, and tell me I'm ridiculous, but that was a bonehead decision on his part. Almost as dumb as Suerro declaring for the NBA draft. Can you imagine him and Cremo when they are Sr/Jr respectively? YIKES. Sucks he couldn't deal with one more year of being 6th man.
  7. I wouldn't be surprised if someone said that he lost the locker room. Just look at the sideline during games...#dead.
  8. I called him a poorman's Sam. Very consistent down low, good footwork. Not as crafty as Sam, but very tough just like him. I am definitely a fan of Stire.
  9. While true, it is a team game, you cannot dispute the fact that when a team has to gameplan for one player it will create opportunities for other players who don't have the 'spotlight' on them. That was the case with our other players when Gontarek was on the field. That's all we are saying. We are not saying Gontarek is the only reason we suck so bad...but it sure as hell is one of them and that is a FACT. Teams now key on Roberson and don't really care about anyone else (in terms of sending 2 guys, etc.). They just single coverage us to death now because they rest of our receivers (aside from obviously Roberson and maybe Harris) aren't that great.
  10. We were LIGHT YEARS ahead of where we are now against Buffalo and even JMU. We played (so far) our two toughest opponents 100x better than we've played everyone else. Makes no sense.
  11. Okay, I just took a look at the stat sheets... In the last two AE Championship games, this is his average line: 37.5 MPG 44% FG 46% 3PT 57% FT 4 RPG 1.5 APG 2 SPG 4.5 TPG 3 PFG 18 PPG IMO, I'd hardly call him a killer. That's why I said shut down Warney, make that the priority. If Purifoy gets his, he gets his...but he's less likely to dominate than Warney. Warney can kill you in many ways...getting your bigs in FT, getting and-1's in the process, high percentage shots, etc. etc. As for Purifoy, I was right, he misses FT's in pressure situations and his A/T ratio is HORRIFIC for a starting PG...not to mention supposedly the best PG in the conference. I'd take Evan over him ALL DAY and twice on Sunday. Purifoy can shoot though...
  12. Hasn't Purifoy choked in the last few AE tournaments at the end of games with missed fts and shots? I don't remember him being a major factor in any game of consequence lately but maybe I'm just blind or forgetful. Not saying he's not good, but I wouldn't worry about him. Shut down Warney and do the best you can with everyone else. Purifoy won't beat us himself, Warney can.
  13. And I do agree that the two new guards at times showed flashes of being just as good as Peter or Evan.
  14. This team should be able to win 20 games and be top 2 in the conference. We have to be the favorites to go to the championship game again, but not necessarily win it.
  15. I'm sure he plays a huge role in just opening up the offense so they can't double team Harris or pack the box against Croskey. He's arguably our biggest offensive weapon.
  16. I'm hoping Roger or someone asks him that hard question. Losing cause of injuries is one thing. I don't even care that we're losing as much as I care HOW we are losing (getting shutout repeatedly).
  17. My take on the scrimmage: We are an athletic team. Should be fun to watch. I didn't watch the upper classmen too much cause we know what they can do, although I will say that Peters has a nice touch around the basket and although Rowley still can't make a basket he has bulked up considerably. For the new faces, Cremo was timid on offense to start but by the end of the game he was trying to do stuff. He had like 4 or 5 rebounds in the first half. Clearly an athlete, but he's a freshman. I saw good things from him. Chas Brown is athletic. Looks like a guy that can crash the glass pretty good. McKinley is VERY thin and I don't see him playing much but if he is patient and doesn't leave the program I see him being our future big. He's very tall and lanky...will be good down low in a couple years. Sanders was all over the place as was Peter (making plays everywhere). Those two plus Evan are easily our 'big 3' and we will go as far as they take us. The new guards (Andrews and Nichols) showed flashes of being real good guards. Andrews has a decent midrange shot while Nichols reminds me a bit of Ambrose. Both can GET UP. Richard Peters got out jumped for two rebounds by either one or both of them (don't remember exactly who it was I just know it was one of them). What else...Greg is our next version of Sam. Very heady down low and tough as nails. Doesn't have the same post moves but he's a poor man's Sam.
  18. I said the same thing about the coaching staff when they were announced. Some of you may remember. I won't even go to that last game if it's an amazing day weather wise. If anything, it'll be my lack of attendance hopefully speaking volumes as a season ticket holder. I'm fed up. We should all boycott that game and someone should send an anonymous email to someone on the athletic department staff (unless someone is already reading this). I don't care, as a fan, if a kid is not his recruit or not. If he is better than his kid, then he needs to play. The fact that a few players have left due to being relegated to the bench for no reason other than that is asinine and grounds for punishment IMO from Benson. If we were winning, it would be a slightly different story. But we're not and he's sticking to his kids no matter what.
  19. Truth. I'm dying for basketball to start. I'm probably not coming to the last game given that it's a 7pm game at the end of the year. Will be freezing.
  20. Nevermind, last week's Crook has arrived lol. WTF was that? Did he even target a receiver? Seems like he just launched it while yelling 'good luck!'
  21. What is that compared too!!!! They are inept! ZERO points on the board again!!!! Last week lol. At least they are making some plays and moving the ball. Problem is we are stalling in the red zone. Last week we didn't even get to the red zone cause everything was 3 and out.
