I don't think that the attendance gain is something we should applaud though - in all sincerity, it's only a 3% increase in attendance over the course of 8-9 years. We've consistently been a winning program and have 4 appearances in the NCAAs in the last 8 years. That's abysmal. It starts at the top. How much more can this program do from a winning standpoint? Aside from an upset of a power conference team in the tournament, the program has been highly competitive and made leaps.

Were you at the games earlier this year? Towards the end of the year, our crowds were significantly bigger. I have to really try to be heard in the arena...when in the first few games I had no problem getting my voice to the sidelines lol.

Lots of over the backs, that's how it happened. The reffing was ATROCIOUS. There was one play, Click will confirm, where a VT guy literally JUMPED OVER our guy to get a board. I mean, COME ON. I'm still mad about the reffing.

The one ref named Robert Adams, today, one of the worst...followed by that old short guy with REALLY white hair who occasionally does games here. If we run through the AE tourney, we'll have an RPI somewhere in the 110 range. That coupled with the fact that we would be in it for the third time in a row which always gets some love from the panel means probably a 15 seed.

 

I don't see a way to get 14 unless there are some massive upsets in other conference tourneys that they can then take those teams and slot under us.

I'd give a little more credit/benefit to a team that dealt with injuries/absences and still won 20 games vs say a team that won 20 games and had every player all year long. Why wouldn't you? It's a good chance that a team not missing it's best player for a handful of games could have won more games than the other team, thus, being better.

(hypothetical scenario where UA is being looked at against another mid-major with similar record who was healthy/intact more of the year than us)

How much of our student body lives in the dorms and how much is off campus housing? As has been stated in other threads, it seems like much of our student body isn't all that into athletics...so we technically might not see a drop off. As you say, those that care will make the effort.

Believe they sent emails regarding post season to season ticket holders..right? Heard they mentioned a 2/27 date maybe. Someone who gets the email can confirm...I just chatted with someone at the last game who mentioned that date.

 

Yes, our regular seats are up for purchase by us (we aren't getting moved it we buy them). I believe they are $20/game. Myself and my brother both got ours. Parking passes are also $10/car.

Cold aside, it's probably a beautiful place to live. It seems to always be highly ranked in world rankings.
