  1. Great crowd. Not just large but noisy. The place was buzzing during some of those runs in the second half and it was clear that the players felt it too. Terrific to have that kind of energy in the building. Made for a fun experience. We were talking on the way home that people in our section who usually yell about the officials didn't do it last night. Apparently they did but we couldn't hear them a couple of seats away. I'm not sure how many people went to the feast. I enjoyed that part as well. The food was very good-I had the ribs which were great. The Earthtones did a couple of songs, games for the kids, it really has seemed to improve every year.
  2. Danes show some bite-TU Danes fall back to 5th-TU A performer of note-TU Danes impressive on Purple Growl night-Troy Record
  3. If you're taking donations I'll bring candy to the game.
  4. A bit of photo retouch magic. You can have it if you want it since you are a founding Rowdy. Congrats! You guys were mentioned by Brown again in today's Troy Record. You're on your way to being famous in Albany and infamous throughout the AE!
  5. Danes thinking payback-TU The Rowdies get a mention in the Record. Ready to Growl: UAlbany ready for rowdy fan-fest-Troy Record
  6. A trip to Florida may be in order next November. UAlbany plans on tourney-TU Danes planning road trip to Floirda-Troy Record
  7. You're probably right Statefan and guess what? "As of now they're on Double SECRET Probation! "
  8. No harm, no foul Patch. You're not on Dean Wormer's double secret probation list.
  9. I'm not a rowdy but I couldn't agree more. Good chance for the women to move up if they keep winning. One game out of third and all three teams ahead of them have tough games on their remaining schedules.
  10. I'm really not disappointed with Patch as you'll notice I posted a picture of Janev also. Just my attempt to take both the high and the low road at the same time. I do think this part of the college game has changed since I was an undergrad or maybe it's just part of Division 1. For the most part every school that has an active student section does something like this. Antione Johnson got it alot on the road when he was at UA, maybe just because his name is so yellable. Annntwan.......Annnntwan...... Annntwan. We were at Dartmouth his sophmore year the students there were giving him the buisness as did the Northeastern students one year. I know from listening to the Lehigh game that Levi was getting it pretty good from the student section there so fair is fair. For the most part I think they're just chanting his name, trying to throw him off his game and is all in good fun. I haven't heard anything really personal but then again I'm far enough away that maybe I wouldn't which might be for the best.
  11. "The time has come for someone to put his foot down. And that foot is me."
  12. There will be flyers at the games. The posters didn't work out as well as I hoped last year. As I found out it's pretty tough to fasten anything to concrete. The gallery idea is great. There isn't enough space to store pictures on the site. You can post them here but they have to be stored somewhere else on the web. I know I saw someone with a camera in the rowdy section the other night. There has to be some pictures somewhere.
  13. I don't know that UA is recruiting him for sure but I saw it mentioned. His name is Brian Hoff and he was on ESPN2 last night. He nailed a couple of 3s and was in double digits the last I heard against one of the better prep schools in the country. The announcers talked about what a great student he is.
  14. From Fox News: UAlbany Working On Preseason NIT At Florida The UAlbany Great Danes are close to playing in the preseason NIT next season at Florida. A contract is under review that would pit the Danes, the Gators and two other teams in a tournament that lands the winner at Madison Square Garden. Albany hopes to finalize the deal in the next month. Also, UAlbany is planning a bid to host the America East Championships in 2006. The deadline for bids is April. This season, the tournament is being held at Binghamton.
  15. From today's paper "Camden Catholic raced to a 39-20 halftime lead and then coasted past Bishop Eustace 63-46 in a National Division game as Brian Connelly scored 17 points."
  16. Another Macarchuk magic moment last night. McCalum got called for the tech after hanging on the rim (I belive the Rowdies were chanting "10 point lead" at that point.) Macarchuk calls timeout and goes right after Poppoko for some reason. I think he yelled at him for the whole timeout while McCalum stood off to the side. As an aside to Patch. I'm really disappointed you'd single out an opposing player for mockery. Really unsportsmanlike and beneath you. BTW here's Janev's picture so you'll know what he looks like.
  17. They were talking about Hall's "inaguration" on the radio this morning. He's donated the cost of a formal inaguaration to scholarships instead and added some money of his own. New UAlbany chief makes early impression-TU
  18. Big second half helps Danes drown Seawolves-Troy Record UAlbany women prevail-Times Union Danes' good half barely enough-TU
  19. ...Kermit, Kermit, Kermit.... Excellent work. When you can get the president to wave the flag you've earned the shirts. I hope you get them by the Growl. You guys really added alot of fun and I agree it should be like that every game. As an extra bonus Maine lost to BU tonight so Albany is in sole possession of fourth place in the AE. Also the women slid by Stony Brook and are now in a fourth place tie with UNH who they play on Saturday. I haven't seen any stats on the game yet but I suspect Lillis had his best offensive game. Levi came up with alot of boards, especially offensive and really played well. I guess games with SBU are alway tough but I was impressed with the Seawolves, they looked better than their record. Another excellent game by Jamar who had alot of assists.
  20. It's kind of funny that therea are a fair amount of Siena fans who covet and on-campus facility. We have one and are talking about playing at the Pepsi. The demand is not nearly enough to hold games at the Pepsi and I hope they never do unless it's some huge draw from a power conference. I'd much rather see the RACC expanded by 1,000 or 2,000 seats if it ever came to that.
  21. There's a story today about some local kids who signed and maybe even bigger those who didn't. Jason Diehl of Troy and Zack Luke of Cambridge. There was some talk about Diehl being recruiting by Albany, he is absolutetly huge. Don't know if these two or others will go to higher 1AA.
  22. Hopefully him seeing his shadow means six more weeks of winning.
  23. There is a small note on Covington in today's TU. Brown of course can't comment until the signing period. Covington is listed as 6'7 and 245 lbs. Similar in size to Cori Spencer of SBU who we'll see tonight.
  24. Good news, bad news for UAlbany-Troy Record Danes want to be cooking at home-Times Union
  25. Irish defeat Wilson again Wednesday, February 2, 2005 Camden Catholic pushes streak vs. Tigers to 28 By WALT BURROWS Courier-Post Staff CHERRY HILL It was a test of which team had the most desire and resilience to bounce back from a loss in its previous game. Camden Catholic High School had lost to Camden 68-62 Thursday, and Woodrow Wilson had been spanked by nationally ranked St. Patrick of Elizabeth 90-65 Saturday. So Tuesday was bounce-back day, but only one team celebrated it - Camden Catholic. The Irish led from start to finish in the Olympic Conference National Division game and wound up with a 79-66 victory over the Tigers. Adding insult to injury, it was the 28th consecutive victory over Woodrow Wilson for the Irish, 12-3 and ranked No. 6 in the Courier-Post Top 20. "The last time we lost to Camden, we came back with a seven-game winning streak," said Camden Catholic coach Jim Crawford, wearing a wide grin and probably inwardly hoping for a repeat occurrence. "Fortunately, the kids didn't let the loss to Camden disturb them. They played hard - a sign of a team that cares. I'm sure they were a little disappointed with the Camden outcome." Catholic has one game remaining before Saturday's cutoff date for the state tournament - Bishop Eustace on Thursday. The Irish could finish 13-3 and wind up seeded third or fourth and maybe earn a home game. A loss against the Crusaders might put them on the road in the first round of the Non-Public A bracket. Brian Connelly was the biggest weapon against No. 7 Woodrow Wilson, pouring in 34 points. He scored 17 in each half and also came up with a strong game off the boards. "It was a tough loss to Camden," Connelly said. "We knew we had to come out strong. It worked for me. Everybody did their job. Scoring, rebounding, setting picks, dishing off and running the floor. I thought we stepped up in every phase." Guards Tim Smith and Anthony Matera earned special mention from Crawford for their performances in backcourt. "Those two kids stepped up today," he said. "They handled the pressure real well and that was important in helping us get off to a good start." Connelly also complemented the backcourt duo. "In the beginning, teams put pressure on us and created turnovers," Connelly said. "Tim was new but he has come along to a point where he is helping us offensively and defensively." Smith finished with 14 points and Matera eight - all in the first half when Camden Catholic raced out to a 40-26 lead. Smith had 10 of his points in the second half. Connor Crawford had 13 for the Irish. Wilson, which fell behind early and stayed there, was sparked by Semaj Inge's 27 points - 20 coming in the second half. Asa Houston scored 10 points in the first quarter and finished with 14. James Inge chipped in with 12 points but the Tigers got little else in the way of sustained scoring. Camden Catholic's domination didn't bring out the best of the 9-5 Tigers. "Oh, these kids know about the losing streak to Catholic," said Wilson coach Bob Green. "I think it's even become a mental thing. We certainly can play better than we did today." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
