1. So am I, other than football the CAA does nothing for me over the AEast, and travel to away games is tougher, but there's not much question it's a higher-attendance, higher-paying league for basketball coaches. 13359 I'm also happy to be in the AE right now. As great as this season has been, we all need to put it into perspective. It's only been ONE year, now is not the time to move to a better league yet. Lets grow the program.
2. Coach is on Murph, he said that he was on the phone right after the game calling some kids (recruits) and that they have allot of kids in the mix for that last scholarship. It sure looks like they will be using that last scholarship this year. When asked the question, when will we hear word of a new contract. He stated that hopefully something will be completed within the next week. Will stated that he will be gone over the next few days on the recruiting trail. I bet we hear something beggining of next week.
3. Brown vowed to say at UA???? Does anyone have the exact quote?
4. IMHO I can see Will being a lifer. Look at what the school has done with athletics over the last decade, everything from Volleyball to LAX the new football stadium and now UA Basketball. This university is investing allot of money and time into the athletic program and it’s starting to pay off. As they gain more national recognition you’ll see more donors, more ad money etc. This institution has some very big advantages; it’s a state school no different I believe then the likes of Ohio St. etc. Its academic program is growing by leaps and bounds with all the SemiTech and all the research grants etc. This will make them truly a multi faceted institution, one that people in this state will want to support. Will Brown is well aware of what’s going on here and the growth of the institution in all aspects and I think that he has as much to do with the success of the athletic program as any other coach or even the AD. I think he feels pride and looks at his job almost as a father figure who has shepherded this program and wants to make it into something special year in and year out. I heard him today on Wyland and I definitely think that we will see him at the RACC for at least the next 5-10 years. He just seems like a guy who really appreciates the opportunity. When Wyland asked him about his contract situation he stated that the university has been very good to him and loyal, and he let on that he is prepared to do likewise. Infect he stated several times that he is looking to be here for a long time. Not to mention that all he talked about was the future and next year and years to come. Doesn’t sound like a guy who is ready to jump on the next bigger contract to come around. If the RACC does a decent job of packing 3500 - 4000 people game in and game out this year. And close to selling out every game next year I can see them seriously considering either expending it or building a larger facility. If we are packing that many people into the RACC this would mean that the team is doing great, meaning that they are making decent money from tickets and with that many people coming to the game you’ll see an up tic of revenue. With more money coming in I can see them throwing more at Brown and him in turn feeling like this is his program and he stays. The gap between the majors and mid-majors is closing, look at the teams that are in the sweet 16. In my opinion there is more parity in the college basketball world then ever before. If the AE improves or the Danes move to a better conference I can see Will being a lifer. With that being said, there are allot of if’s here. We only had one GREAT season; it still remains to be seen if the University is committed to keeping this going, and if Will Brown is capable of sustaining this momentum. I wouldn’t bet against him.
5. Very, very, very, very glad to hear that!!!!! 13332 Will also said that he is looking to be here "for a long time" I was overjoyed to hear him say that. I really think that he might be a lifer!
6. I’m back! I was at the in-laws in VA over the weekend so I haven’t had the chance to congratulate the TEAM! I’m so very proud to cheer for them. What an awesome game! My in-laws TV broke so I had to go to the campus of JMU and watch the game in the campus center, even though I don’t attend the school. There were probably about 30 people watching the game with me. The whole place was going crazy; they couldn’t believe what UA was doing. Not a single person knew where UA was or even where Albany is located. Not a single person in that room ever heard of us. But they were all jumping and cheering for our team. After the game I was leaving and people were walking out with me and I could overhear the disbelief. People were like “what was that” and where did that team come from? It was awesome! Made me even more proud to be a UA fan. I can’t wait for next season!
7. With all due respect, UCONN is no New Hampshire, Main, UMBC, Stony Brook or Bing. They shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same sentence. There is no comparison! With that being said, we shouldn't just roll over. Let's give them hell!
8. I'm seriously considering throwing $10 down on UA. What if?
9. Hell no!!! I have been chuckling all morning while reading the Siena board. I thought they turned a corner with all of their praise this week re: UA, and then I read the Duell threads. Soon, the story will be that Duell transferred because he wanted better competition and playing against weak ass post players like B. Wilson just wasnt going to help his NBA aspirations. Then it will go something like "Please, even if the AD's signed off on Duell sitting out for a year instead of two, Duell would never go to UA. What has UA done, won one Conference title. Big deal, the AE was weak this year. Fantastic, boast you are the best team from a Conference whose RPI is 34." D96 or Bob87 replying: "Hey, morons, get your facts straight, we have a 119 RPI and a conference rating of 27. So what, the conference had a down year...but you cant deny that UA and Brown are on the way up. Dont let those facts dampen your argument." Gorvy replies: "GO KILL YOURSELF, LOSERS. Albany coudlnt beat Lansingburgh's girls team. Mari Warner would give you the game plan and you'd still lose. SIENA IS THE GREATEST. WE DESTROYED YOU AT THE PEPSI...and we were having a down year. We OWN YOU!" Patch replies: "OWNED...you guys beat us in OT. Plus, look at all the solid recruits coming in the AE." SienaARCtech replies: "TONY, ban Patch...he is stating fact...I dont like it, and my skirt is too tight. TONY Replies: "I refer you all to the top of the message board. Remember, unless you can find my 20k bucks, I will ban you if you say anything to the contrary of "SIENA and G-D have a close relationship. We are the best. DUELL is going to light up UA like Gallup did to us." Gotta question the degree from Loudonville C.C. Disclaimer: All events are fictional, however names are real. Though fictional, the author best tried to incapsulate (sp?) the attitude of the masses. Josh Duell, though represented here in a light to further the author's disdain for certain fans, is a fantastic Capital District product. 13106 Actually a pretty funny post As far as Josh Duell goes, I don’t think any Siena fans are under any illusions that Josh will be some sort of ALL MAAC player, but he does have some size and can shoot, he should be a solid role player for Siena ( if he comes to Siena) I’m kind of surprised he didn’t choose Albany, at your level you would have got more minutes, probably the two year waiting period, or maybe he just likes the Pepsi 13117 SienaTony, Since I’m kind of new here and you don’t post that often, I just wanted to say, good to see you here. I enjoy the Siena board that you run, so as far as I’m concerned you are welcome here anytime to stir up some fun.
10. Oh!!!! Did anyone watch the incident where Allen got pocked in the eye. Man, I almost lost my breakfest!!!

I don't want him!
12. Would Duell transferring to Loundonville be dependent on Fran staying there 13075 Comeon, this one is a no brainer! Close to home, he could actually live at home. In-state tuition, no room and board. Granted, he is on a schol. at UVM but they could offer him one for his senior year. Financing doesn't make sence, but logistically it would be a great move. Local fan base, on and on and on.......I see no way he comes to UA, I'm not even sure I want him. He would have to give up at least a year and most likelly two years of eligibility. His AD in UVM would find it easier to sign a waiver if he was going to the MAAC rather then AU (AE team). Not to mention they guy had a pretty serious injury, he had a down year. His specialty is 3-point shooting and he only hit for 31%. Isn't terribly mobile or agile. I'd rather spend the scholorship somewhere else, rather then have a guy sit on the bench at least a year and possibly more. If he was a real blue chipper then perhaps, but not on Josh. Just my 2 cents!!
13. 1) I agree with your assessment that we don’t really have a real arena. The RACC is nice, but its no Pepsi or even Event Center in Bing. I think this point hinges squarely on the fan support. If we start to consistently sell out the RACC then perhaps the administration will consider throwing their support behind a new building. 2) As the program continues to be solid from year to year, I agree this will take care of itself. 3) I don’t know much about the Administration running UA, so I can’t really speak on this point. But I am perplexed at the long time it is taking to lock up Brown. What is the wait?? 4) I really think that the SUNY schools are sleeping giants in the AE. Bing has a very bright future as does UA. I also think that SB will be the most improved team next year. Not to mention the non-SUNY schools like UVM and BU have been solid for a very long time, and will be back in the coming years. The AE as a whole should improve over the next few years, and be a stronger overall conference.
14. Thanks for the link to the graphs. It looks like the budget for athletics has been growing at a healthy clip. Basketball income should substantially increase this year. How much will the school pocket for playing in the NCAA's?
15. I’m always wondering about the finances at UAlabany and the limiting factors that would prevent this program from growing even larger. What would be some limiting factors that would prevent UA to grow into a “true” powerhouse? How big of an issue is money/financing? Where does the athletic program get its money? How is the budget distributed etc. Is the biggest limiting factor the AD???? Lets discuss what we think will be the factors that will limit the growth of this program or let it blossom.
16. Awsome pic's. I saved one to use as my desktop.
17. As much as I wish it to be so! There is no way we get past UCONN, if they even play at 60 percent we are dead. They are just to big, to fast and to deep for us to compete with. I'm looking for this to be a way to advertise our program on another nationally televised game. And bring some more great recruits in here. Go Danes...
18. When are the first games going to be played? And when would AU play? Is the schedule out, if not, when? Thanks guys!
19. Does anyone know what he's talking about???
20. It is nice to be ahead of the crowd. 12802 Guys, I hear you, but I'm not an alum nor did I ever go to the school. When they were bad a few years back I didn't even know they existed. Started following them the end of last season and then this year it just took of. I wish I had my season tix to....now I have to compete with everyone else to get them.....But I'm a life'r from this point on!!! Hey, if you've been following them this year your ahead of the game too. Seats will be tougher, but you'll have no problem getting chairbacks. And in my opinion you want to be up a little bit anyway. Better view of the whole court. 12829 Today's game was my 8th or 9th of the season, I intend to be one of the first people inline to get my season tix for next year. Just like I was the 4th person inline last Tuesday to get my tix for this game. Go Danes!!!!!!
