  1. I pretty much agree with everything. But doubtful about your comment that UA probably has enough offense to compete? Tonight they scored 83 pts because umbc's defensive is/was almost as bad as UA's. Against good defensive teams, IMHO UA will revert to NOT scoring enough. I am afraid UA is just as bad offensively as defensively. Pick a reason: low basketball IQ on BOTH ends of the court; BAD coaching; lack of talent; and more. Probably all of the above and more. Not sure I'd include effort as a reason UA is SO bad; for the most part I think the kids are really trying hard {maybe trying too hard??}.
  2. Bingo beats Nhamp by 18. Maine loses to umassL by only 2. UA in a lot of trouble. Looking directly in the eye of a 9th place finish in league. I know it’s early, but guessing winless on the road; maybe sneak a couple wins at HVCC???
  3. I know it’s early; but I’d wager neither of these teams will have a representation on the AMEAST all defensive team
  4. Unless of course being "UP" and having the talent to perform SO does not equate.🙄
  5. Agree 100%. Plus, IMHO shooting is and has been a major issue {maybe the major issue} with this team and also last year. It was IMHO also an issue the last few years in the Brown era. Not to resurrect a dead horse, but Brown's teams could overcome poor shooting with hard defense and at least some semblance of an offensive strategy and they alway/usually had a time out play in their arsenal to stop a run, or get a few points at a crucial time. DK's teams do not appear to be able to play "D" at all and have no offensive way of overcoming bad shooting [ike attack the boards for instance.] Now, I am definitely NOT trying to compare an experienced Brown with DK who basically has 1+ years as a head coach. So back to my original point, and that I am just aghast how bad this team shoots the ball from behind the arc, in the paint, and even lay-ups. Sure the other team is going to exploit good outside shooting by pressing out and collapsing in against bigs and a strong inside game. This team seems to have neither and seems to miss TOO many open shots. Early in the year someone disputed a poor shooting comment I made, by showing statistically UA was pretty average. I wonder if that is still true, but doubt it. And if the #s do contradict my opinion that poor shooting is a major issue, I do not think anyone can argue with the fact that UA simply does NOT score enough points.
  6. 72, Thanks for filling in the blanks and helping my old grey cells as Hercule Poirot would say. Layton with the Catalon connection and yes Temple; and Parker were/are exactly who I was remembering. Forgot about Coleman. As you say, probably not drafted; but definitely Fordie's that played in the NFL
  7. Total embarrassment today. DK needs to re-evaluate "something". It may already be too late????????????????????????
  8. Cannot remember his name; but I recall a tight end under Ford who played a couple of games in the NFL. Not Sure if he was drafted or one of those after draft signees? Maybe I'm wrong? Also punter (sister was a news reporter for CH13) transferred to Tennessee I think; pretty sure he was drafted, not sure if he ever played in a NFL game. Also, a number of others from Ford era had invites to NFL camps; not sure if you want to count these or not?
  9. Reddish among the missing again. No points. OPINIONS: is/has he been over rated on this blog; just in a slump; or just giving up on UA???
  10. Roster now up. Gash is listed. DU transfer from Denver (thought you meant Duke) TJ Sheehan #1, listed as sophomore from Rockville CTR. Only noticeable cuts of note Pessimetti & Tanner Hay (but brother Camden is ON the Roster.) Palandjian is BACK. Did not look that close, might have missed some.
  11. When was the last time Reddish scored? I’m probably wrong, but seems to be averaging 2-3 per game for the last several, including a zero or two?
  12. Got pretty close; up by 13. Went a good 4-5 with nothing. Probably can live with that, but you are right 8-10 is a killer.
  13. Well I watched on ESPN. I thought UA competed hard. But IMHO they really just do not have the horses to compete at Mid+Major level. Perhaps when they get to conference play they will be more in their element & be respectful???? Loyola was by no means a power; but have/had enough to hold UA at bay. Maybe the lessons learned with UA’s tough OOC schedule will prepare them for the AmEast; but even though I’m Trying to stay optimistic, the bottom line is Got to have the talent. Really NOT convinced that they do?
  14. Davis played 6 minutes, missed a lay-up; a short jumper was blocked the full length of the court, that led to dunk; and with 1.1 seconds on the shot clock passed the ball back behind himself, instead of throwing up something or trying to get fouled? Box score had him 0 for 2 shooting; not sure what the other miss was, unless the blocked shot counted as a miss. He is playing himself out of the rotation. Not sure if he is trying too hard, or just too nervous; but seems totally lost out there??
  15. Nice summary! I also am trying not to get too excited; but I agree there were some impressive moments yesterday, albeit vs a terrible LI
  16. Not sure the moving of Wadsworth to Harriman means UA assuming control. TU article this AM did not mention Wadsworth. I know it has been speculated. Have you seen anything official that UA is assuming control of Wadsworth? The tweet above mentions the 750 mil move to Harriman; but nothing about Wadsworth UA merger??
  17. OK. We still have a coach; how about a roster & schedule?? TU article mentioned 10 home games?? Usually rotates from year to year 6 to 8 home games. Not sure how you get 10 in a schedule that is usually 14-16 total games; but I like it, if true. Some information about the team, recruits and who they are would be nice. Also, by now season ticket prices and deadlines would have been out for a while??
  18. As long as I am ranting about Benson doing NOTHING for Lacrosse; let me go one further & give an example where he actually impeded & even embarrassed the program. HEADstrong Foundation Nick Colleluori Classic is a fall ball scrimmage which has been held for many years. It consist of 8 men’s & I think 8 women teams split over 2 weekends. Hofstra & John Hopkins are sponsors & the tournament raises money in support of a Hofstra alumni. UA participated in this event on several occasions. The fall after UA’s final four appearance (& the beginning of UA fall from power), UA was awarded as a site host. It was suppose to be in Casey stadium with Hopkins, Vermont & Army. Not sure the exact timing but at some point Benson said the games could not be played at Casey because there was a football game @ 3pm. The lacrosse games were scheduled for 10 & 12 with a brief ceremony to follow. Benson said he could not delay the football game & would not be able to get the field ready. Fellon Field was supposedly getting new turf & also un-available. The games were played in the mud on make shift fields to right (looking north) of Casey. Little or no seating for fans with awful sight lines. Attendance & monies raised were diminished. UA has NOT been invited back to this prestigious event since, even though they had been involved several times previously. IMHO, Scott, UA Lacrosse, & the University overall were embarrassed by Bensons refusal to accommodate the event. When, I complained bitterly I was told to back-off & even was threatened be blocked. Know what, I don’t care anymore.
  19. Sorry I'm with those who have been/are tough on Ketner. As I recall he did not even start playing BB, until a Sophomore & Junior in High School. While I certainly respect your opinion, he has been a project since day 1. Was a walk-on last year and only offered a scholie at the end of the year [after the fiasco with Fizaluch NOT getting his promised scholie {not that I'm saying these have anything to do with each other.}] But IMHO Ketner did not show me anything last year and I've seen every home game including scrimmages & P&G scrimmage; and still am un-impressed. But to answer your question, he did not dress yesterday--part of the mysterious "illness" going around UA BB.
