  1. Agree on both points; but must take note missed free throws down the stretch costly.
  2. Good effort. But it came down to missed foul shots and some missed 3’s down the stretch
  3. Who is Evans? Are you talking about Evans from a few years back?
  4. UA had 7 TO’s in first 10 minutes; only 2 in second qtr.
  5. Another reason I’m against joining CAA. As far as I know only midmajor in country not on ESPN family. $9 a month or less depending on package with Disney. Pretty much can watch all/most UA games home & away with ESPN. CAA games pretty much only exception.
  6. UA Volleyball has their backs to the wall. Must beat both New Hamp. and UMBC (not likely) and hope New Hamp. loses at home to NJIT (not likely.) Even if somehow UA wins both & NJIT pulls an upset, not sure of tie breaker; UA lost @ NH earlier. When was the last time UA did NOT even make the AmEast tournament in Volleyball. This year could be the first time ever? Just another UA sport under Benson that has tanked???
  7. My report on game 2 is basically the same as game1; and pretty much concurs with most everything said here. I will add this: this team scraps and plays hard and so far, seems to find a way to win. It is way early and UA's short comings are very obvious {as many here have pointed out}, and a lot of work/improvements are needed; but IMHO this team has a real chance to be good and may very well surprise a lot of people. May be it's just my wishful thinking and being that I'm an eternal optimist??
  8. Not to contradict the experts @ the TU; but my observations from the game are: for the most part IMHO I was very impressed with the defensive intensity. Yes at times UA lost a man and the skids got an easy basket. But overall UA defense was quick, got a lot of steals, taps, and deflections. Sometimes these get into the wrong hands and result in easy baskets. It is the nature of aggressive defense, it happens. But still IMHO was very impressed by the defense overall. Also, skidmore shot the ball well and as mentioned had a big height advantage on UA. Offense was in my opinion the issue yesterday. Many of the same issues as last year: poor outside shooting and not finishing around the hoop {especially in the first half, got better in the second}, and POOR FOUL SHOOTING. The stats don't lie 12 for 23 from the foul line. Davis was UA top scorer @ 20 pts; on 6 for 17 {2 for 5 from 3, 6 for 10 from line.} Drumgold was next with 19 points on 8 for 15 [I think ] with 3 3's. My stats might be off as I saw a box score on the skidmore site after the game, but could not find it again this am; and UA did not even have an article on their web site. I also would have liked to check how many steals UA had; which I recall as very good and turnovers which I recall as NOT awful. So in summary, IMHO UA played well defensively, shot poorly offensively, against a quality DIII team that was bigger than UA and shot the ball well. Also as the TU mentioned UA played with 3½ men down. What it all means at this point probably nothing, but that is the report as I saw it. All WELCOME to correct, contradict, add.
  9. Pretty sure AmEast games will be ESPN+,3 or U. OOC games on network of home team or "host" league if a tournament. I do not follow soccer but did watch Volleyball and occasionally field hockey this fall. AmEast games where on the AE tv network when no announcers provided. When play by play audio provided games were picked up by ESPN also [for instance volleyball @ New Hampshire was on espn+ and @ Bryant was on espn3.] Home matches were on AETv only as UA does not provide announcer/audio for volleyball. Do not know anything official; but this was consistent with previous years. So pretty sure AE basketball which always has announcers/audio will once again be on some ESPN site each game. If anyone knows or heard definitively please reply. THANKS. ps. Have no idea if UA/Siena "neutral site" game will be streamed????
  10. For what it is worth comments from the alumni game: First why does the thing have to be such a big secret? I got there about 5 of 4, the score was 14-4, obviously started early. Overheard a couple of parents, also commenting that they got there late. I only live 7 miles away and it is no big deal; but who knows how long or far some parents traveled to see their sons, whether current members or alumni participate? Also, it irks me to no end that Scott or his staff, never print a roster so the people/fans KNOW who the alumni are and to HONOR them. Also overheard two parents saying the game was going to be 4 -- 20 minute time running quarters. When Scott stopped the game with about 2 minutes left in qtr3, everyone was kind of confused. Must have had dinner reservations or only reserved the field for an hour?? When places like Hopkins have an alumni event, there are banners & parades etc😛 {probably NOT, but still annoyed how poorly UA's alumni games is presented and advertised.} The final was 19-8 in favor of current team. Cannot tell you much, since like alumni, current roster/participants not printed or available anywhere. It has been said UA/Scott(?) does not like to print the roster too early due to possible cuts and to encourage those competing for spots to hustle and to work hard. I'm not a coach, nor an expert, but seems kind of ridiculous?? It has also been mentioned that due to the extra covid year, UA's roster has swelled. From a very unofficial count, I made yesterday 35-40 suited-up for the scrimmage. Could be many reasons why the number was so small, but at least for yesterday there was no evidence of a swollen roster. Also, VERY unofficially I tried to compile a list of players that I expected back but could not locate in the game or on the sidelines; and players that I did see who were questionable. Again, many reasons why a player was absent or NOT noticed; and please take note the accuracy of all of this very suspect: did NOT notice F/O Regan Enders; speaking of Victor players--did NOT notice Tanner Hay and only moderately sure that I DID see Camden Hay; did NOT notice #24 Jack Pucci--top junior college recruit from last year; DID see #77 Palandjian and pretty sure #91 Elijah Gash was there; did not see a #0 Pezzementi--might have been wearing #1?; #41 a 6'5 tall thin freshman Parker Winkky who saw limited action last year, appears to really have bulked up. Again this very limited list presented with no definitive accuracy or reason; please treat it accordingly or IGNORE completely if you prefer.
  11. Anyone think Brook second guessing their jump to CAA? 😂 IMHO glad UA did not join them!
  12. Still THINK the suspension was BS in the first place. IMHO do not believe DK "assaulted" a player or accidentally knocked him down in a circle jerk {I mean warm-up😉.} Then the whole incident or non-incident [pick one] get's washed under the rug for ½+ a season and then gets resurrected after the kid's parents find out DK "supposedly" rescinds a scholarship offer {again very UN-DK like.} The whole thing smelled then and now like "BS". I"m sure we will never know or get the full story; but IMHO I have no issue with DK picking his own "penalty"; especially since in my assessment he was INNOCENT of any wrong doings. As for DK's boss--Don't get me started 🤮.
  13. Old Timers help me out. Recall playing a game @ UMass a number of years ago. Might have been before we were DI?? Recall we put a scare into them. Maybe I dreamt the whole thing, after 50+ years of watching UA sports, a lot of games to remember/recall/dreamed?? Anyone remember this game??
  14. IMHO do not agree he is "too small" to play UP. He was recruited by Old Dominion and IMHO he may just be the best QB in the "powerful" CAA right now. He is accurate, he mobile, and he is poised. From what I've seen [confess I do not subscribe to "FLO", thus have only seen home games & some highlights], he can through the deep pass and the deep down and out [two demonstrations of arm strength.] Again, I confess I'm NOT an expert but IMHO he can most definitely play up a conference, including low FBS. And IMHO unless this UA team doesn't start winning "some" games, it would not surprise me if he bolted.
  15. Thanks for the update. Do you know if it is alumni vs alumni or vs current "roster?" And if you catch a time, I would go over to watch. Speaking of roster, I know you mentioned the cuts before; but I am still surprised. Not really Scotts style. Always seemed the type of coach who felt the more the merrier. Also, last years roster - "some" departing seniors + this years recruits (about 10-12) does NOT seem out of order with other schools?? If anything the # of 2022 recruits listed on inside lacrosse is low compared to most. ps speaking of seniors who WANT to return, I definitely was able to identify one playing in the Canada Scrimmage; but I guess that does not mean he is a lock for the roster?? Anyhow, thanks and appreciate your continued input/insights.
  16. AGREE 100% with Jimbo's post above. Would like to add; except for football, it ALWAYS has been only a mediocre {at best} conference for ALL other sports. IMHO Glad UA has resisted joining fully.
  17. To steal a line but not an election from a famous actor on the "Apprentice": "You're Fired" -- Gattuso & Benson both.
  18. "Watched" some of the UA-St.Bonnie game on You Tube. Watched in quotes as camera was so far from the action and quality was so poor; pretty hard to to see/identify anything. Also no sound that I could get to work. When I discovered someone was running a chat alongside the video, I figured out UA took an early 6-0 or 5-1 lead that went to 6-4 and eventually 7-4 by the ½ time. Final 16-7. But can not report much about who did what? I did not participate in the chat but did recognize a couple player parents, complaining about the poor production, camera angle/distance and sound or lack of. I also watched some of the Canada Red vs Bonnie game and at one point Canada was shutting them out them 9 or 10 to 0. Did not see a final; but either Bonnie pretty bad or Canada National pretty good. Missed UA vs Canada White, got home from church too late. If anyone has any information how that game went and wouldn't mind reporting, it would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise I guess that is it for me until late winter/spring. Have a great fall/winter Lax diehards. And of course feel free to rouse me from my fall/winter hibernation with any news/info you like to share about UA Lacrosse. THANKS. Have a GOOD ONE.
  19. First of all. I was SURPRISED how few people attended. Like I said above, thought seating etc would be an issue. Not even close. Has interest in UA Basketball tanked that much??????? Anyhow, my report is similar to 1882's, only I would not go so far to make prediction. Definitely a fast team. Outside shooting like last year appears to still be suspect. Neely did not play a minute, even though he was dressed and was on the floor for shoot arounds, etc. but no game minutes. Raddish missed a number of open shots [some 3's some inside the arc] but did heat-up a little near the end. Hutch was either 3 of 5 or 4 of 6 from 3; sort of lost count; but his makes were all while planted and both misses were coming off screens [pretty much his MO last year.] Dk Davis was the only other player to make a 3 [2 out of x attempts--not sure how many he tried.] I was impressed with all three big men; Kettner is a beast and can score around the basket, Beagle is smooth and can make foul shots, and Kellogg looked solid on both ends of the floor. Speaking of making foul shots, I do not know if it was some sort of practice gimmick/strategy, but only 1 shot was awarded even if in the act of shooting; and as a team/teams, I do not think there was more than one or two misses all game. While, impressed with the 3 bigs playing around the basket the small forwards and shooting guards were all fast and could get to the rim; but mostly could NOT finish. Maybe because they all know each other and the DEFENSE was intense by ALL, all game. This could be a very good/excellent defensive team? Fast with many steals back in forth {or just sloppy play??} In summary hard to tell much from a scrimmage: but shooting woes [like last year] appear to an issue, should be much improved scoring and defense by bigs, even with no true center; definitely fast both defensively and on attack.
  20. found the answer this am: They’ll show a lot in an ambitious fall weekend that includes intrasquad scrimmages plus games vs. Saint Joseph’s, Denver, St. Bonaventure and UAlbany. Luckily, it’s been announced that the games will be streamed on YouTube. Did not say if a subscription required? And did not say if all games being streamed? or only those involving Team Canada? Interesting Graydon Hogg listed on Team Canada White . Conceivably he could play in 3 games Sunday, plus 2 Saturday depending if he suits up for UA also: Sunday, Oct. 16 Canada White vs. UAlbany, 9 a.m. Sunday Canada Red vs. St. Bonaventure, 11 a.m. Sunday UAlbany vs. St. Bonaventure, 1 p.m. Sunday Canada Red vs. Canada White, 3 p.m. Sunday
  21. I got an email. Assuming many others did also?? With homecoming & a lot of people milling around & tailgating etc; could get pretty crowded in there?
  22. Open practice/scrimmage in “Practice Court. PE Building” 12:30 -2:00. Where the heck are they planning to put people??? Estimate from past P&G scrimmages 200-300 attend. Even if estimate off; even if only ½ that amount; from what I hear about court above old pool barely regulation. Pool use to have 2 rows of seats ¾ way around if I remember correct? Are they still there?
  23. Anyone know if this will be streamed? Will 2023 roster be posted soon [aka before this event]? Anyone going? I'd love a report--THANKS.
