  1. Stop Please. Everyone on this blog has his right to their opinion; but calling vt. mid major is like calling $iena mid major. Vt is a ONE sport school. OK they are a mid pack in Hockey East but rarely a playoff team. How many ae conference championships, how many commissioner cups (O is the answer for cups and champs other than bb pretty near 0.) Their basketball has what 10 champs to our 5 and they have been D1 at least twice as long as UA. When your resources are NOT spread around multiple sports, especially when football involved, much easier to excel at ONE sport. And for those who keep praising vt. attendance; anyone attend either UA volleyball game @ UA Friday or Saturday. Even with only one side open the noise and excitement in UA gym is vt like. The old timers on this blog can tell what 2000 to 2500 sounded like in the old DIII days. Keep hearing how well vt. draws; but bingo who never wins anything usually leads the ae in attendance and as bad as UA attendance; when winning we far out draw vt and even in losing years we are right their with them in attendance. Let's see what happens and see what happens when their 2500 "super faithful" sit in their new larger stadium. Hugh increases NOT guaranteed. Anyhow, calling them mid major, IMHO way OFF base.
  2. I go to most games and often watch road games on aetv. Fun Sport for fans! Unfortunately missed today--@ Radio City for Christmas Show. Kept track Stat Cast on bus ride home. CONGRATS TO LADIES VOLLEYBALL.
  3. 3 home games in February. Hope Santa brings me some new long johns for Christmas. Better yet maybe Santa will but a dome over Fallon.
  4. 100% agree! Anyone know what happened to Carter? As "72" said, coach commented he may be out for the year. Was NOT listed on the program yesterday and I do not recall seeing him on the bench during the Manhattan game. Also, Coach said Carter could have helped us at Manhattan; but did not say why he appears to be mia??
  5. I know coach want's the team to attack the zone and I know he was not happy with 30 3 attempts game one. But shooters need to shoot; and sometimes the best way to defeat a zone is set screens and shoot over it. If your team's strength is the 3 and your inside games is not great, sometimes just got to live or die with the 3 ball.
  6. You are right this is a weird post; maybe I'm being a little paranoid how the ncaa will find a way to screu UA again. To clarify, last year UA beats brook on a last second field goal, supposedly knocking brook out of the playoffs. brook gets the bid anyhow, as if the UA victory mattered not. The first year under G, UA beats hampshire on the last game of the year {and if I remember correctly, beats them handily.} Both teams finish 7-4 hampshire gets a bid {along with 3 other caa's} and UA NOT. Weird post sure, but I could go on and on with ncaa slights against UA teams over the years in all levels and all sports. Don't even get me started I was at the DIII ncaa opening round in LeMoyne when UA got killed in the first game (I forget by whom) and the LeMoyne coach who was on the selection committee said it was a mistake even putting UA in the tournament. Never even got an apology when UA upset LeMoyne in the consolation game. (yes in DIII days 1973ish, actually played consolation games in ncaa events and above is true as my memory allows.) Not to be too weird and ramble but many similar UA slights over the years.
  7. Tale of two halves. Clark was outstanding in the first half; 6 or 7 assists no TO's in first half I think. The second half Clark and the TEAM reverted to old ways. If Jojo is not the answer to spell Clark when in foul trouble, in a funk, or just plain tired, this team is in trouble. Healy, Rizzuto, and Malachi [and I love them all] are NOT POINT GUARDS! Not even close, it is unfair to even put any of them in that position for more than a couple minutes .If Jojo can't be minimally a reliable back-up then, I guess it is wait until next year when the stud from West Genesse arrives. In the P&G scrimmage, Carter the walk-on from Rochester looked very good. IMHO give him a chance, because Clark is Clark and will be GOOD & BAD; and no one I've seen in the past two seasons can be a competent backup. For those saying, its early, don't panic, don't light my pants unfire; I say tell me someone on this team who besides Clark {when he ON} can play the point.
  8. Except we beat them and brook still got a bid. Same thing a few years ago, we beat hampshire and they got a bid and UA did not. Can not trust committee and IMHO caa administrators do nothing to promote UA. If brook upsets UA [and they WILL NOT] caa would be very happy to see UA not get a bid. Make them look bad if team predicted to finish last gets a bid. Tell me I'm wrong OK; I've never had any love for the move to the caa. Anyhow, we win next week, and my argument is mute; cannot keep us out then.
  9. Wyland said Fox had strong interest from maryland & hopkins.
  10. Don't need them to score. Like 99 said: box out, set screens, rebound. Always liked Fench's hustle and even if Hanks fouls out in 10-15 minutes at least he may inflict some inside damage physically. What we gave up inside to what is supposedly an outside shooting team on Saturday was I don't know what word to use-----BAD I guess. Not to mention offensively we did nothing inside; so it seems like French and Hanks can't be "much" worse.
  11. Agreed. Was very surprised Saturday how much time Hansen played out front, both offensively and on defense. I know he his not a wide body, but IMHO we do not need another shooter and need help down low defensively. So if Hansen can't help the inside game, absolutely play French and/or Hanks.
  12. Maybe I am over reacting; but Saturday was so much like LAST year that I was truly, lets say disappointed rather than over reacting. Started last year 0-2; ultimately 4-11 ooc [5-11 if you count DIII win]; started 0-5 conference; need I continue. And as the losses piled up, we all/most at least said don't over react, have reasonable expectations. Not to lay blame, but Saturday I saw the same Clark, No Defense from anyone pretty much, poor to bad shooting by all, missed layups, lack luster efforts, and NO leadership. I know it is only one game, but with 5 games in Canada and a month of practice, it would have been nice to see some of last years deficiencies corrected.
  13. SOS within and outside of conference could hurt UA. Did not have to play JMU, Nova, or Elon. Lost to Richmond and Maine. Towson only quality win.
  14. DP. I think you nailed it. Agree on all points. Got very nervous when I saw Healy and the guitar thing. Freshman seemed more mature than the vets. Hopefully first game jitters and over confidence out of the way. Got a feeling it is going to be a rough few days of practice before Wednesday. Hope coach does not run them to death, but may be exactly what they need?????
  15. Agree on all counts. Missed a lot of lay-ins; plus Lehigh had 7 blocks. I was also confused why we did not get he ball after the T. Also, a lot of to's. Looked like a deja vu; last year all over again as Yogi would say.
  16. Charlie was the play by play man before Roger. Also has done football, lacrosse and women's BB over the years; both on tv and radio. Is much better than Roger. Hope he is a regular now!
  17. Even with the win on Tuesday UA got out rebounded by +10. Left yesterday after the third and were again being out rebounded by double digits (did not see the final stats.) Both games were POOR shooting performances. Could easily be 0 & 2. I am definitely NOT an expert, especially about defense scheme; but IMHO if their shooting and rebounding do not improve, it could be a long season for the lady Danes.
  18. I LIKE the line-up. Malachi and Lulka can hold their own on the boards. Malachi will not get beat by most teams 4's; unless they are extremely physical and Rizzuto is as tough as they come and can help with a double when necessary. Bring Hansen & Lauderdale off the bench for some muscle. I'm sure Brown is going to be doing a lot of experimenting with starters and rotation; but I like this early listing [who knows if it is actually what happens?] Cannot wait to find out.
  19. The Victor shuttle continues. Gives us 3 top kids in 2020 rated 78,83.85. Love the Rochester Area connection.
  20. Good article, well done. Informative. Don't really know much about "impact transferrs" in the ameast; but based on who/what is returning thought brook & mbc ahead of UA a stretch?? Thoughts Opinions??
  21. "It was a rough year for Tehoka Nanticoke and UAlbany. But all indications from summer and fall show that Nanticoke is in great shape and ready to return to the form we saw from him his freshman season."
