While I absolutely respect your rights to privacy and considerations in protecting your sources; but after this much time wouldn't a little more detail explaining your loss of respect be appropriate. Otherwise why bring it up again at all? No disrespect intended, but everyone knows there is more to the story than meets the eye. So why make the above statements now without at least being a little more specific? -

I assume Cam Hay is a "research" error? I think he is a 2020 recruit and hence first year playing 2021? I still like Casey at midfield (his stated position coming into the program), rather than attack. -
19-20 MBB Pre-Season articles and Expectations

Not sure I agree with this. Doherty should see a lot of playing time. either splits time with Lulka or they play small and use both together. Also, Jojo Anderson true point guard (which was sorely lacking the last couple of years) with power 5 experience should see a lot of time if as good as advertised. But as you say, very early to make such predictions. -
Two previously Grad transfers: Miller a total bust; Foster mostly a bust (a disappointment at best.). IMHO unless you can nail a "sure thing", better off spending the money on a project freshman??

2019 Schedule posted. Curious---No Umass Lowell. Did they drop woman's Volleyball? If so they must be comfortable with their Title IX situation {no football to offset.} -
New Premier League IGT
dslyank replied to GreatDanes06's topic in Spring Sports-Baseball, Lacrosse, Softball, Track + Golf
Got to disagree with you on this one. WWF on major networks and pay per view, does not make it a legitimate sport. For that matter; "Survivor", "Ninja Warriors" and other reality based nonsense on major networks pretty much every night of the week. I guess you can call these competitions, but "sports" NOT (IMHO). And not to insult horse racing fans especially with Saratoga in my back yard (I've never been there), got to question calling horse racing "sport." Each to their own I guess. Anyhow, not saying PLL falls in these categories; only saying I hope it does NOT. One owner, no home allegiances, NBC contracts with no real live reliable revenue base (i.e. home fans) scares me a lot. -

PLL Week 3: Tensions Flare in Another Pair of OT Games. About ½ way through the highlites; Blaze Riordan and Troy Rae from the Chaos team fighting team Redwoods. Looked like WWF--scripted and fake. Still have my doubts about this league---one owner, no home cities/attachments--smells of exhibitionism. ps Connor had 4 goals and I think 1 assist, Miles also played well. -
Agree 99% with your post. 1% off; "some" blame to AD always {that is his job.} Of course HOW MUCH blame we can all asses on our own? Anyhow nice post State.

Anyone know why he is leaving SIU and what is his reason for applying for hardship status and what are the chances he gets accepted to play 2019-20???

Excellent assessment Jimbo. Agree on all counts. I think Marr and company will get last year rectified quickly; and I definitely do NOT think the clock struck midnight. I truly believe Marr has built a legit contending program. To predict UA will someday win a national championship is pretty hard; there is just so much that has to go right and so many thing that have to fall into place. However, unless Scott goes somewhere else, I feel UA will be a POWER and top 20 team pretty much every year. Last year was a blip, not a step backwards. So speaking of the "blip year," let me throw something else out there that might have contributed. In addition to all the graduation loses, TD's transfer, and losing our assistant head coach and defensive coordinator; I wonder if Scott being away with the FIL World Lacrosse tournament for a large part of the summer is/was a contributing factor. I am not being critical of Scott because what he gained and what UA gained by this exposure is/will be a great benefit in the long run. But perhaps his long absence is one of the reasons the team never seemed to come together and one of the reasons so much player experimentation and rotation was going on pretty much ALL year [fall and into spring.] THOUGHTS /OPINIONS??

I did not see the game; but officials IMHO should call the game consistently ALL year and NOT differently for play-offs or championships. If they did allow excessive aggressive behavior (and I did not see the game as I said) and I was Yale I would protest to the ncaa and also seek the dismissal of the officials involved. But then again the ncaa as far as I am concerned as a sports governing body is as corrupt and inept as they come. They make the Olympic governing board look like saints.

Has UA made any progress at all in leveling the playing field and living up to their voluntary agreement?????? Also, as I recall, the agreement specified 3 years to comply; seems to me 3 years has expired?

Jimbo, I agree only to an extent. A number of years back (maybe Lyle's first year,) there was a heated discussion on this blog whether UA could compete with the blue chips in Lax for talent & results. Using 1882's 2014 to present, UA has certainly shown they can compete with the chips with results. The question or discussion whether we are doing it with equal talent or with a few generational pieces only, is probably still up to debate. The discussion at the time was could or can UA become a Lax "destination." IMHO UA definitely HAS, but "maybe" still a notch below the chips [very interested if anyone remembers the discussion & see what they think now and has their opinion changed.] Whether or not you believe UA is now a DESTINATION or not, the problem now has become a little more complicated. With the expansion of LAX in college and high schools over the past few years an interesting conundrum occurs. Talent is simultaneously spread too thin and too concentrated. I think you will find this in all sports, go back and look at the MLB, NFL and maybe most recently NHL. IMHO, while the major talent becomes more spread out when the number of teams grow, the A-, B+ talent grows with more and better feeder programs and with experience. At the same time due to the #s needed to support MORE teams, there will also be players of sub bar talent around. As the talent gets more spread around in a good way and bad, rules changes (i.e. shot clock) are instituted & designed to make the sport more interesting & COMPETITIVE. All this contributes to newbies being able to compete with the chips. IMH and unscientific opinion is where college Lax is now and why there were so many "upsets" this year and why more and more blue chips are being left out of the ncaa's or at least no longer guaranteed a spot. Whether or not you feel this is good for the sport or not and whether or not you feel UA can/is one of the chips or one of the chip breakers is up to each's own opinion.

Obviously losing TD was/is big; but there was/is much more to the poor season than that. For instance, about 65 All-Americans (1st, sec, third & honorable mention) just named. NOT one UA player. Tehoka went from #1 recruit in the country to not even honorable. Team went from final 4 to nowhere. Are we just not getting the talent anymore or are players not playing to their potential??? Are the coaches not recruiting well or just not coaching well??? I DON'T KNOW! May be just unlucky this year, ball NOT bouncing our way, may be just normal college down cycle, may be UA was just a marked team this year & everyone just gave us their best game. Whatever the reason/s, hopeful Scott and staff get it turned around quickly. Incoming class "looks" strong. Recruiting videos posted by HOF {thanks Hof}, were awesome. But like someone said in another thread, don't ALL recruit videos look amazing? Anyhow lets hope the recruits are as good as they LOOK.

Disagree 100%. We did NOT get crushed by Yale this year and in spite of UA's issues this year I do not believe Georgetown would have crushed UA had they played. UA was NOT crushed by Maryland or Cornell. Without rehashing all the reasons why UA had a bad season (& who really knows why for sure); the only two teams to "crush" UA were mass and cuse (& cuse was really one bad ½). You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but I feel if UA played Georgetown today , UA would win and if we played Yale , may be not a win but certainly NOT get crushed.
